I am giving this book 5 stars. This is the first book I have read from Rosanna Ley, and I look forward to reading more. The Lemon Tree Hotel is a story that covers three generations and the incredible way Rosanna Ley has of describing the setting really drew me in and I felt as if I was actually in Vernazza enjoying the beauty of the Italian Riviera; wishing that The Lemon Tree Hotel was a real destination to travel to and see in person. This book was a wonderful read with history, multi generational characters, mystery and an emotional connection that the women from these three generations unknowingly share and as the past and secrets of the heart are discovered it will strengthen their bond in a way they never imagined. This book is available in print, kindle and Audible on amazon at the link below. I have purchased the audible after reading the ARC, I can't to hear the audible preformance as well.

Perfect setting for the summer and I was instantly transported to the beautiful Italian Riviera. It's not the light read you might expect from the cover and I really enjoyed the multi generational aspect, with historical aspects. If you love family sagas, this will be right up your street!

When a handsome face from the past arrives at the beautiful Lemon Tree Hotel, the owner, Chiara, is faced with a dilemma as the guest, Dante Rossi, rekindles memories which Chiara has kept hidden for over forty years. The beautiful Lemon Tree Hotel, once a convent during the tumultuous years of WW2 also has its secrets and another mysterious guest at the hotel seems determined to uncover the hotel's hidden past.

The author is the queen of the multi-generational novels and writes about the places and the people which so much love and attention to detail that they very soon become as familiar as friends. I loved spending time with this family, getting to know those people who calls this lovely place home. Chiara, although quite the matriarch, has an air of sadness around her, and then there's her tempestuous daughter, Elene, who manages the kitchen and produces the most wonderful meals, and Chaira's granddaughter, the lovely Isabella, who is about to discover some dark secrets about the hotel she loves.

The Lemon Tree Hotel is a wonderful summer read and one that soon grabs your attention making it absolutely perfect for a long, hot afternoon in the garden, or lazing poolside with an ice-cold drink. Filled with all the beauty of the Italian Riveria, the sunshine of the olive groves and the delicious citrus aroma of the lemon trees, the story envelops you in a glorious story of lost love and mysterious secrets.

I thought this would be an ‘easy light’ read of the chick lit variety but I couldn’t have been more wrong. It’s a family saga spanning three generations of strong Italian women. It’s a complicated mix of so much emotion, love and heartbreak. A must read if you love family sagas.

I really loved this and became so involved with the characters. I was suspicious of Chiara's husband all along and those lengthy stays in Pisa! I was pleased with the ending as I wanted mother and daughter to "sort themselves out" as running the Lemon Tree Hotel was so time consuming, they had forgotten how to appreciate each other.

I can recommend this book, I read it on holiday in the Canary Islands but was taken back to the Cinque Terra where I once visited an old school friend and absolutely loved it.

Lovely story of three generations of women, all centered on the family business, the Lemon Tree Hotel. The arrival of Dante throws things off, as Chiara, the grandmother must now revisit her past. Her daughter Elene and granddaughter Isabelle have their own stories to deal with. This is for fans of family sagas- and it's in a terrific setting. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. What a refreshing tale. Firstly I was completely drawn in by the cover, and then the synopsis sounded really intriguing so knew I had to give it a read. It was a lovely, relaxing and enjoyable summery read with an interesting storyline and I really enjoyed it.

A funny thing happened while I was reading this book: I talked about it at dinner time and my family was discussing about the story as somehow it reminded us of people we knew and their stories.
This is the kind of story an Italian love: it's full of drama, twist and turns, passion, love lost and secrets.
It's engrossing and entertaining and you cannot help rooting for the characters hoping they will solve their issues and love will win.
My grandma would have love it as she used to say "I had so much time, I cried all the time" and I loved it
The three strong women at the center of the story are strong willed, passionate and realistic, I loved how they were developed and how you cannot help caring for their life.
On comparing the male characters are well written but a bit less interesting than their female counterpart.
I loved the descriptions of the Cinque Terre, the are where Vernazza is, as it's realistic but also dreamy. I was craving to be there and spend some time at the Lemon Tree Hotel.
This was the first book I read by this author but it won't surely be the last.

The Lemon Tree Hotel tells the story of three generations of women who are all dealing with their own issues of love, loss, sacrifice, and hope. Not as light of an easy, summer read as I had first thought it to be, but still a very enjoyable story.

Rosanna is one of my favourite authors so The Lemon Tree Hotel was always going to be a pleasure. The story wraps itself around the lives of four Italian women; a grandmother, mother, daughter and close family friend, and although there are secrets and love and a few surprises along the way, it is the bonds that unite – and divide – them, which give the story its impetus.

The relationships between the women in The Lemon Tree Hotel are real, not saccharine in any way. The issues that arise within families, the conflicting loyalties, the misunderstandings but overall the love, whether easily expressed or not. All these and more play out between the generations as change creeps into the beautiful village of Vernazza.

The women stand centre stage across the generations and the skilful way their lives are played out is what keeps you reading to the end.

The Lemon Tree Hotel is such a great novel. It's well researched, has complex characters and an interesting plot. The author writes great descriptions, which makes you feel like you're there and I would love to try some of Elena's cooking.

What a lovely read the lemon tree hotel is, chiaras tale of unrequited love over decades, whilst continuing her life as a wife , mother, grandmother and hotel owner. The descriptions of vernazza and the delicious food served by elene in the hotel transports you there and you can almost taste the food and imagine the scenery!loved how the book spanned from Italy to west bay in Dorset which is a favourite holiday destination for me.

I love Rosanna Ley's books as they are well researched and feature beautiful locations. This book is no exception, the location is stunning, and makes you wish that the Lemon Tree Hotel was real, so that you could stay there.
This book is not a lighthearted book, I found it hard to follow at times, and slow to get into. It was worth reading, as it is a good book.

A book to escape into. The descriptions of Italy take you there and make it sound stunning. A full on family saga covering many generations. The story has many twists and turns and a few secrets hidden away.

Chiara didn't marry for love but married the man who was the choice of her parents...... so what will happen when the love of her life reappears? Elene is married to Silvio, he was her choice but she married for security rather than love...... will that love ever grow? Isabella is very attracted a German guest but she is sure that he is keeping secrets from her..... can she really trust him?

A great story about three generations of women, who all have great strength in their own ways but also their problems.... can they work everything out and pull together as a family? The descriptions of the hotel and the area are lovely, really making you want to go there. I have read all of the books by this author and loved them all

This is one of those books that grabs from the picture of the book and the brilliant location..
It's one of my new authors so I dodnt know what to expect... your put right into the middle of an Italian holiday with friends, what more can happen???

You could feel the sun, taste the food and a gritty storyline with secrets to keep you gripped and not close the book.a fantastic read by a great author.

Having read most of this ladies FANTASTIC books this one I think has out done the rest it's a full on jam packed book that keeps you totally captivated from beginning to end I have nothing but praise for this 5 star read and can highly recommend

This not one of those lighter books of this genre, and has a lot more packed into it than I expected. After finishing the book, the first thing that I could think of was the fact that it would have worked better as three separate books. A trilogy, one for each of the women that we have the privilege of following around and listening to the thoughts of. 

There is a lot happening at the Lemon Tree hotel. It was once a convent that the current owners' family took up in an effort to preserve it and also to build a business. There are three generations of the family who are living together under one roof.

We have the grandmother, Chiara. She has a past which seems to have come calling and threatens to change her present. 
Her daughter Elene who is insecure about her life and position as co-owner of the hotel and very strangely behaved in the first half but the second knocks some sense into her.
Lastly, we have the granddaughter Isabella who currently runs the day-to-day things in the hotel and she is very curious about their latest guest.
Now, each of their problems is pretty emotionally heavy and are independent of the other's issues. This had me jumping from one person to another without actually becoming fully invested in any of their lives. The love they feel for their home and the role they play in society is clear enough but even their resolutions did not satisfy me because of the aforementioned reason.

The book paints a very interesting picture of the small town, how the war changed it and how economies are codependent. I liked the read but would have loved it if I 'felt' more individually.

Once the warm weather arrives, I start thinking about summer fiction; for me, that means the books that will provide me with escape. The Lemon Tree Hotel is a good read in this category; the setting in the Cinque Terre region of Italy comes to life and I would certainly love to spend some time at a hotel like The Lemon Tree.

The story is about a grandmother, Chiara, who runs the hotel that her parents ran and loved after WWII. She did not marry her childhood sweetheart, Dante, and is in a marriage that lacks warmth. When Dante returns, what happens?

Chiara's daughter, Elene, runs the food side of the hotel. I most definitely wanted to sit on the terrace and eat anything that she prepared. Elene is one of those characters who is seemingly set in her ways from a young age. How will she grow, if at all?

Elene's daughter, Isabella is at the hotel desk. She has a warm relationship with Chiara but not so much with her mother. Isabella gets to know a visitor to the Lemon Tree from Germany. What is he doing there? Is it related to WWII? Will he and Isabella find love?
