The Day we Meet Again by Miranda Dickinson. I thoroughly enjoyed the development of the romance between Phoebe snd Sam. This was not a difficult read so is perfect for the beach or an indoor day. It’s lovely to switch settings as Phoebe (and to a lesser extent Sam) travels and we get glimpses of life at their locations. This was a lovely addition to the light romance of the storyline. I also love the support of their respective friends and the truth of how we all let those friendships slip as li fe and geography mean we have to make a concentrated effort to stay connected. There are some great aspects to this wee read .... I won’t spoil the ending Definitely one that would be on my holiday list

The Day We Meet Again is a beautiful love story courtesy of Miranda Dickinson. It starts at St Pancras station. Phoebe is heading off on a year’s adventures to Europe. Sam is also at the station about to head in the opposite direction to Scotland. Due to train delays they meet by chance and spend a wonderful few hours together. Neither of them expected to meet the love of their lives at the station but agree to meet back there in exactly a year’s time if they still feel the same about each other. But life is never that simple, is it?

Beautifully written, it’s a tale of adventure, of will they or won’t they and it’s guaranteed to keep you entertained to the very end.

Thank you to NetGalley, HQ and the author for the chance ti review.

Have not read this author before. This novel was not for me, sadly. But thank you for the opportunity to read it.

This was a very enjoyable and easy to relax into read. Sam and Phoebe are both well written characters who meet by chance when there is a delay at the train station where both are headed in different directions for a year, book loving Phoebe to follow in the footsteps of her favourite authors and Sam to track down the father who deserted him when he was nine. The spark between them compels them to keep in touch and agree to meet up in one years time. The story follows them over the next year and beyond and I think Miranda Dickinson told it in a believable manner, the characters develop well but both are flawed and very real and the story is well thought out. I really liked the direction this went in but don’t want to say too much and spoil the story!

From the first chapter I was hooked. When Sam and Phoebe meet after their respective trains are delayed it feels like fate yet they are going in opposite directions. They agree to meet in one year. Sam heads to Scotland And phoebe crisscrosses Europe - Paris, Florence, Rome...
Whilst Sam is looking for answers and Phoebe finds herself. It's hard not to will the couple together, but life and love are never that simple. A truly heartfelt story.

I absolutely loved this book.

Thank you so much the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a complimentary electronic copy in return for an honest review.

The Day We Meet Again is Miranda Dickinson’s tenth novel. And Wow, what a novel it is!

The Day We Meet Again is a wonderful romantic novel about self discovery, a journey to finding out what is important and what you value in your life. It also focuses on connecting with loved family and friends - Making true friendships, discovering sometimes it’s the little things that matter.

The Day We Meet Again focuses around the wonderful characters of Phoebe and Sam who meet by chance at the Betjeman statue at St Pancras International Station – their two lives are going in completely separate ways but after falling in love after being with each for a few hours while their are delayed they decide they will meet up in a years time at exactly the same time, same place - 11am on the 14th June, one year later – and continue their lives together.

During their year full of wonderful adventures, new meanings in both their lives and new beginnings, do Phoebe and Sam meet up with their true loves at the end of the year? A must read, to find out!

Sometimes in life, you have to take a chance and see where it leads – make the jump, take the chance and follow your dreams.

An absolutely beautiful love story which I enjoyed reading from start to finish. I loved reading about all the different places that Phoebe and Sam visited during their travels and about their journeys made – not only geographically but emotionally too.

Fantastic book, its been a long time since I last read anything by Miranda Dickinson, perhaps I should start reading more of her books again based on this.

I was really excited to be approved for this one, because it sounded lovely. Two people meet in a train station, hit it off really well, but both are heading off on year-long adventures. Over the next twelve months, they keep their relationship going through texts, emails, and postcards, making a promise to meet back at the same statue in St Pancras if they still want to keep it going. Both are on journeys of self-discovery, and discovering who they want to be, and who they were. I can see where this book was going, and lots of it was really interesting, but it just didn't hit the right notes for me.
Told in alternating sections between the two characters, it was great to be inside both characters' heads as they discovered themselves and their roots, and tried to keep in contact with the other party. But their relationship over the year is quite fractious, as they struggle with miscommunications and hidden developments. I understand and appreciate the difficulties of this, but what I found really difficult to enjoy and understand was the fact that neither of the characters really articulated what they were doing or why they were doing it. Every time something went wrong in their relationship, I, as the reader, was utterly bewildered as to why these things were happening. And, honestly, my confusion could easily have been avoided by simply not getting in the head of the person doing the confusing thing, and experiencing the confusion of the other half. But the narrative jumped into the head of the person and the person didn't know either, and I felt like this was a character development flaw - if the characters can't articulate to themselves how they're feeling when we're inside their head, how do we as readers feel that this is realistic and relatable?

That was my main difficulty with the book, and the only thing I really disliked about it. Plotwise I did like the book, and it was very realistic about how a relationship founded on a single day's experience together can feel like it's absolutely meant to be, but still hit rocky waters - especially when it's low-contact and long-distance.
Lots to really like here, but it didn't quite hit the right notes for me.

Another great book from Miranda. I haven’t shouted at a book for a long time. Just when you thought it was going one way it went in a different direction but I won’t give the story away. Her characters on the whole were loveable and humorous which is always great. I would highly recommend this book. Thanks Miranda and NetGallery

This book seems to have gained a lot of positive feedback so I must be missing something. Sam and Phoebe are just too contrived to care much about and the way they breeze through life becomes irritating. Phoebe just happens to have glamorous contacts all over Europe and Sam has a successful music career that never involves any effort, rehearsal or auditions. Their constant self-obsessed introspection is tiresome after a while and the plot ‘twist’ when they are due to meet just doesn’t make sense. I slogged my way through this out of a sense of obligation as I didn’t care at all how it ended.

A love story unlike any other with some adventure thrown in. I really felt like I was travelling with both Sam and Phoebe and felt the emotions they both experienced.

This book shows how 2 random people can meet in a random place just as their lives are going to change but are helped along their journeys by meeting each other. The ups and downs and the misunderstandings but it all comes good in the end. Amazing book

Phoebe and Sam get thrown together and torn apart again by forces outside their control. So they make a pact to meet again, one year from today at St Pancras station. They each take turns to voice a chapter and deliver a fully rounded tale. It has a bit of a “sliding doors “ vibe about it

I started off really enjoying tbis book, I loved the atory of Sam and Phoebe meeting at St Pancras and looked forward to their return a year later. But, all of a sudden, on the day, Phoebe throws a spanner in the works (sorry, don’t want to spoil!) and from that point on I lost interest. Phoebe seemed to have not much reason to be so dramatic and I’m afraid I realised I didnt care. The book then just seemed to drag for me unfortunately.

Struggled to get into it as I found the beginning a little odd, but enjoyed it once I did. Changing from one character to another in each chapter is not my favourite way of reading, but great characters and nice story.

Headline : Should I Go Or Should I Stay?
Testing a relationship with a break of a year can be fraught with the potential for complications and misunderstandings. Having such a break after having only known what may be the love of your life for a matter of hours multiplies the complexity and risk by a factor of 100.
Sam and Phoebe are thrown together by circumstances and then just as quickly torn apart by their different plans. Ships in the night and all that….
Both go on separate journeys both physical and mental with their own demons and insecurities adding to the difficulties.
It was hard not to like both characters and wish they could somehow resolve the issues that unfortunately arise and conspire to keep them apart. Miranda Dickinson has produced and excellent novel and I for one will be searching out her previous books.

I intend to provide the above on Amazon when the book is released on 5 Sept 2019

"It's not you, it's me"

I picked this book up but it just didn't grab me in the way I wanted. Maybe I'm too cynical and jaded? I left it for a few weeks and tried again, but it was a real chore to finish it. I found everything (the characters, the plot, the scenery) just too naive and lacking any depth or substance. Unfortunately, just too much fluff to charm a blackened heart like mine.

My thanks go to the publishers and Net Galley for the advanced copy in return for an honest review.

The summary of this sounded quite bizarre, and I've got to admit that the book was too! The premise was interesting and unique, but I couldn't understand a lot of the decisions that characters made - why such little contact? Why not just have a long distance relationship? They both seemed to feel so obsessed with their own sense of self that it didn't make for much of an enjoyable read at times.

It's a shame though, as the writing was wonderful, and I can really see how much talent Dickinson has. I just couldn't quite click with at first. It did pick up as it went on, but I must say it might have been better if it had been a little shorter and a bit more thought put into the logic of the premise.

It didn't put me off her work though, and I will definitely try more of her work.

The day we meet again centres around two characters who meet at St Pancreas station when their trains are delayed. There is an connection between the two, but they are going in different directions so they decide to meet again in a years time if they feel the same way.
The writing was lovely and you could really see the scenes that she was trying to create but I did feel like this was a little too drawn out. Its a nice summer read but could have been slightly shorter.
