Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
"The Honeymoon" by Rona Halsall was a nicely paced psychological thriller with some unexpected twists & turns.
I would read another book by this author.

If you want a gripping read, that is also both a warning of and deterrent to the perils of rapid marriage, then this is the one for you. As always with Halsall a quick read, that once you start, you won't want to put down.

Gah! What a cover! Great job on that one. Loved the pace of this psychological thriller, with some unexpected twists and turns. Is too months long enough to know who someone really is or can you even ever really know someone? Great characters and great thrill ride for this one!

Chloe and Dan meet and marry in a couple of months. When they head off to a honeymoon and Chloe notices that Dan changed the destination without telling her, and then refused to let her leave, things take a turn.

Initially I found it to be a fast paced psychology thriller. I actually really enjoyed the writing in the beginning even if there was a lot of repetition and back and forth. At some point the characters’ actions, particularly Chloe’s, just made no sense. There were too many unrealistic, and frankly stupid, decisions.

Still, I read this quickly and was never bored. I’ll definitely read this author again.

This book gave me a Behind Closed Doors vibe. The setup was similar with naive women steamrolled into bad marriages. I liked the plot and it definitely kept me guessing. The pacing was excellent too and finished in just a few sittings. My main complaint was Chloe, I just didn’t find her likable enough. However, I still enjoyed and would read another book by author

How much do we ever know anyone???? Once married things take a very dark turn in this title, culminating in an excellent thriller!

Devoured this book in a day! It’s so twisty and fast paced. It’s exactly the kind of book I needed in between some historical fiction reads.
The Honeymoon is the kind of story that you could put down (if you HAD to) and pick right back up and feel like you never left. The characters are so flawed and realistic. At some points I was yelling…. no don’t do it! Run the other way….are you mental?
Rona Halsall is a talented author and I enjoy reading and reviewing her books! Can’t wait for the new one!

I seem to have a thing for thrillers involving creepy island honeymoons, so based on the premise, this one should have been a good bet.

Chloe marries Dan after two months of knowing each other. They go on their honeymoon. She realizes that maybe she didn’t know him so well after all.

Unfortunately, it was not for me. I really disliked every single character in this book and found myself perpetually frustrated with Chloe’s thoughts and actions. For most of the book, it felt like nothing much was happening beyond Chloe’s indecisiveness and poor judgement. I will say that the ending was decent and I wasn’t expecting it, but that wasn’t enough to salvage my enjoyment of the story. It was a quick, easy read, but not one that I would recommend.

The idea behind this book was good, and aspects of it were good, but the execution wasn't very good.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

This #netgalley thriller was a little odd, but a fast read. It just felt a little cliche, even with an unusual twist. It wasn’t a bad way to spend a few hours reading, but I wouldn’t pick it up again or gush over it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Honestly not one of my favorites I was excited to read this based on the description but had a hard time with the storyline. Not a believable story and was not impressed with character development.

A proper twisty turny story. Moral: don’t marry someone you’ve known for 8 weeks!! This is a story of control and madness and has so many shocks and turns it’ll keep you awake wanting to know more!!

To quote my pal Kristoff, You can’t marry a man you’ve just met! Ok ok, When you know, you know but the main character, Chloe completely ignores all the red flags and gets her self in a world of trouble marring Dan after only 2 months.

This book had a good premise but I don’t think it was executed well. I thought the story became more unrealistic as it went, and I lost interest pretty quickly. Chloe had an interesting back story but it seemed to mean nothing in the end. I did think it wrapped up nicely but it took a lot for me to finish it.

I'm a massive fan of Rona Halsall and this one didn't disappoint. Well-rounded characters and plenty of tension. I couldn't put it down and was genuinely scared for Chloe for large parts of the book. Very cleverly done and I can't wait for more!

The premise of the book was intriguing but in the end, the book just didn't live up to my expectations. I just couldn't understand why Chloe, the new wife, kept returning to her new husband despite all the red flags. I probably would have only given 2 stars but the ending was unexpected. I probably wouldn't recommend any of my friends reading the book though.

I devoured this book, developed theory after theory that the author set up and then knocked away masterfully. I couldn’t put it down, couldn’t walk away, and couldn’t get out of this world until I had answers.

Great book. Read it in one sitting. Fast paced psychological thriller. Even though parts of it were unbelievable in the real world if you allow yourself to get swept along then you will love it! I loved the characters and it made for a great read.
