I liked the premise of this book but felt the execution fell short from my expectations.
The first half was really good and kept me invested in the story of a newly weds whose honeymoon turns into a nightmare when the husband starts behaving oddly.

My problem is with the second half where it was more or less a roller coaster of contradictions and unrealistic behavior that I found it hard to relate to.

3.5 rounded to 4 as I cared enough to finish the book.
Thanks Netgalley, Bookouture, and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

The Honeymoon is a hard one for me to review. I loved the first have of the book, but the last half of the book was a bit of a struggle to finish. I felt like the ending was thrown together and some parts didn't make sense. This could have been a great book of the second half was like the first.

The Honeymoon by Rona Halsall is a twisty thriller that had me hooked from the very first page. This is a crafty and cautionary tale that conjures up the old adage, "marry in haste, repent at leisure".

Chloe believes that she has finally met the love of her life in Dan, and the two marry after a whirlwind courtship of only a few months. Chloe has become more or less estranged from her family, blaming herself for the death of her mother, and is thrilled that she has, at last, found someone who will love her unconditionally. But when Dan promises Chloe the honeymoon of her dreams in the Maldives, and then whisks her off to Menora instead with nary an explanation, Chloe begins to question just how well she really knows the man she has vowed to love forever.

As Dan's odd behaviour in Menorca continues to escalate, Chloe's actions, or inactions, are almost impossible to fathom but, for me, this all contributed to ensuring the full emotional involvement of the reader. I had no inkling how this one would end, and I was kept fully engaged throughout.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

I thought this was definitely a five star read. However, the second half of the book got more and more ridiculous, She love him, she loves him not. He's not abusive. Then he is. He's holding her hostage, then she escapes, and is sorry she did. Absolutely befuddling. No one coukd possibly be that stupid! And if they were, who wants to read about it anyway! Nonsensical premise, overall these waters are so muddy you can't see clearly. Not really recommended. Had promise, therefore the three stars, but dwindled to a literal mess.

The beginning of this book had promise. Seemed like it took too long to get to what was going on, and parts of it just were like it didn't fit with the story line. Sorry not one of my best reads. Though i did finish it only a 3 star from me.
Disappointed as loved loved you gone was hoping i would love this one too.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC for this book.

I’m terribly sorry to leave negative feedback but I could not finish as the two main characters were awful. Chloe just went along with anything Dan said when it wa so obvious he was no good. Sorry. Not for me

How well do you know the person you sleep next to every night? Chloe thinks Dan is her perfect match, they had a beautiful wedding and now they are enjoying a honeymoon on a lush island far away from everyone and everything. And while Chloe would like their time in paradise to last a little longer, Dan is determined that it won’t end – ever. As my mother used to say – marry in haste, repent at leisure

This was a weird one.

I massively enjoyed the first two thirds of the book. In fact I was hooked. I could barely put it down. I was flipping through the pages as fast as I could!
But then the reveal happens... and it wasn’t great. And following it we’re reveals... reveals... and more reveals. The last few chapters felt rushed, almost as if they had been put on the end as an after thought because it needed more twists.

I don’t know if it was just my ARC, but there were loads of punctuation mistakes which really annoyed me. I was struggling at times to follow bits of dialogue because of the punctuation errors.

I liked the premise a lot. The whole idea intrigued me. And I really enjoyed the tension in the first half of the book.

I would happily read more from the author, it wasn’t a bad book, just not the thriller I expected it to be.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.
