Chloe and Dan marry shortly after meeting and plan to go to the Maldives for their honeymoon. Chloe is beyond shocked when, while boarding the plane, she discovers that they are not going to the Maldives but to Menorca instead. Soon Chloe learns that Dan has been to the same place and the same house before. When he tells her that they are not going back home but are going to make their home in Menorca, Chloe tries to figure out why that is and who she married.

This book had a super plot line. It was an awesome idea to have newlyweds begin their marriage by with a mystery about who each of them is and what secrets they are hiding. In the end, this was a good book with many twists.

However, to be honest, I almost stopped reading halfway in. I hated Chloe’s character and she was the protagonist. She was very irritating. One moment she believed Dan and then in the same paragraph doubted him. For example, in chapter 4, Dan tells Chloe that his car was damaged. In a few paragraphs, she says she wants to stay to wait for the tow because it could be just an excuse; that she had been deceived before; that something felt off and then she tells him she loves him. What!? They have only been dating two weeks. Where is her internal BS meter? Chloe is just as indecisive throughout. In the plane, she jumps from he is lying to he is telling the truth and from he is wonderful and I shouldn’t have married him. Sometimes opposing thoughts are in the same paragraph!

Stick with this book. Readers should enjoy the second half which then will leave you liking the book.

Chloe was a physiotherapist. She tried to care for her Gran, who constantly berated her for past misdeeds. Her brother & sister are always belittling her. So when Dan brings his mother for an appointment, she can't believe this handsome man is interested in her. Within a very short time they are married & on their way to the Maldives for her dream honeymoon. When Dan steers her onto the plane for Minorca she is hurt and upset. Things don't improve much when, instead of the luxury hotel, they arrive at a self catering villa a long way from anywhere.

The loving devoted Dan, suddenly seems to ignore her wishes. He is her husband. He loves her. It is his job to make sure she is safe. But safe from what? Why can't they even have a window open at night? And where is her phone? Chloe begins to realise she really doesn't know the man she's married! The old saying "Marry in haste:Repent at Leisure" seemed very apt!

Although I found Chloe to be a bit irritating, with her background I suppose I could understand why she fell so hard fro Dan & why she struggled to give him the benefit of the doubt.

All in all this was a great read. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

I have enjoyed this author’s previous books and this one didn’t disappoint. It had me hooked from the opening chapter when we meet up with Chloe and Dan at the airport jetting off on their honeymoon. We learn that Dan has swept Chloe off her feet after a whirlwind romance of only two months. Chloe is desperate for someone to love her. Her mother’s death has left Chloe with a feeling of guilt, as her grandmother, sister and brother blame her. So she can’t believe her luck in meeting and marrying Dan. He seems the perfect man, wanting to spend all his time with her and the perfect considerate son looking after his mother’s needs. Nothing can go wrong can it? But warning bells start to ring when they check in at the airport and Chloe finds that instead of booking the honeymoon she had always dreamed of to the Maldives, Dan has changed it without consulting her and they are flying to Majorca. This is the start of a nightmare for Chloe. She realises that Dan is keeping lots of secrets from her as he virtually keeps her a prisoner in the villa as he says their lives are in danger, Chloe eventually discovers that the danger is from events in Dan’s past which are gradually revealed. This is a cleverly written book, full of lies and deceit and plenty of twists and turns. Would make a brilliant holiday read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Rona has definitely become one of my favourite authors. The Honeymoon is yet another stunning thriller that will leave you guessing after every chapter. If you have enjoyed her other books, then this one sure does not disappoint and continues the paranoia and guessing games from page to page as you try to come to terms with the wonderful twists.

The Honeymoon is filled with secrets and unpredictable events that leave thinking...what if this was me, what would I do? I find Rona creates characters that could easily be believable with situations that aren't too far fetched, yet the mystery of the environment she creates pulls you in page after page.

This is a fast-paced thriller that blurs the lines between love and trust. The Honeymoon is everything but the climax to a dream wedding. A great novel and I can't wait to read more from this wonderful author.

I really enjoyed this. It was a quick read that had me guessing with a fabulous ending, interesting plot and believable characters

Can we have a moment of silence in appreciation of that absolutely stunning cover?! Take me there! Actually, maybe not because Chloe’s dream honeymoon may not actually be as picturesque as that cover depicts. People often joke that they wish they could stay on their vacation indefinitely but what if you wanted to go home to your life and your new spouse wouldn’t allow you to leave? That’s exactly what happens to Chloe and is just the tip of the iceberg of what turns out to be a nightmare.

This was one of those books that had my full attention immediately, it was fast paced, things moved along almost as quickly as Chloe and Dan’s whirlwind engagement and marriage. Both Chloe and Dan hiding things from each other and I was desperate to know what their secrets were. There was a great sense of paranoia and doubt running throughout and I found this to be highly unpredictable, which is truly difficult to pull off lately. I was totally wrapped up in the story and read it in two sittings, I would’ve read it in just one but my family needed my attention. (How rude!)

Definitely recommended by me, it was a great read and full of surprises, the twists just kept coming and they were all well executed! Add this one to your summer TBR but maybe don’t read it if you yourself are involved in a whirlwind courtship 🤪

The Honeymoon by Rona Halsall is a thriller that totally should be marketed as a handbook on why you don’t rush into marriage. Sure, there’s the rare occasion a whirlwind romance may work out but how often is that really? Rush to the alter and what you get is what we have in this thriller, two people who do not know one another at all.

Chloe was at a place in her life that romance was not on her radar at all. After some bad relationships combined with the death of her mother, who Chloe, herself and her family blamed for her mother’s death, Chloe had settled into her career as a physical therapist and taking care of her own ailing grandmother.

One day however when going out to great her next patient Chloe comes across Dan who had come with his own mother for treatment. The two of them hit it off right away so when Dan asks Chloe out she of course accepts. What come next is spending every moment they can together for a month when Dan pops the question and a short month later they are married and off to start their honeymoon.

The Honeymoon was a fairly fast paced thriller that drew me in right away not waiting any time at all to start the doubts and suspicion. I couldn’t help but think how crazy are you to marry this guy when we find Chloe harbors her own secrets and lies but with each twist and turn I couldn’t put the book down until finding out how it would all tie together in the end.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Chloe and Dan have got married and are jetting off on their honeymoon. They are so in love and Dan is Chloe’s perfect man. The fact that they have only known each other a couple of months doesn’t really come into it for Chloe, until she realises that Dan may not be the man she thinks he is. When he changes the honeymoon destination to Menorca instead of the Maldives only telling Chloe when they are at the departure gate, this is just the start of everything going wrong…

I did really enjoy this book, but for the first half of the book I really didn’t like Chloe! Chloe and Dan’s story of how they met was lovely! It was love at first sight over the treatment table when physiotherapist Chloe is treating Dan’s mother. If they were to marry a year down the line after getting to know each other better, this would be a completely different book! As it was I initially found myself getting irritated with Chloe for being so naïve and needy, marrying Dan after only two months. I mean, let’s face it, she knew nothing about him, and him about her. Alarm bells should have started clanging really loudly when he announces the change in honeymoon destination just as they are about to board the plane! Personally, I would have left him stood there clutching the boarding passes, but Chloe obviously felt differently.

From there on the book continues to take a much darker route. Whilst I could have given Chloe’s character a good slap for being so trusting, the story had me hooked as I just couldn’t work out what Dan’s agenda was! He was such a controlling character and when he begins to hide Chloe’s phone and bag, my view on how irritating Chloe was turned a full 360 degrees and I actually started to feel sorry for her (I did still want to slap her though for letting herself get in that situation in the first place!).

The storyline was filled with suspense and tension throughout and it kept me the pages furiously! It also kept me guessing all the way through and despite it seeming like everything was being explained, it then carried on giving me more and more. This book had me hooked right from the beginning, the characters were well written (even if they weren’t always likeable) and it had a great ending!! I’m glad I eventually got to like Chloe’s character though as the storyline really turned her character around! It was a deliciously dark thriller, with lies and mistrust galore! Would definitely recommend!!

So, I am back sitting here trying to figure out how to write this review. Do I talk about serene and beautiful the setting of Menorca (no it’s not a typo!) is? How completely crazy the events in the book are? How I just do not know what and who to trust? About how amazing and bizarre the situation itself was but so damn deliciously fun to read? How satisfying the ending is? Or most importantly how secrets do not stay secret?

Chloe meets Dan, the “man of her dreams” and we meet them two months later as they are running through the airport to go to the Maldives on their honeymoon. All happy and smiles until Chloe notices that they are in fact boarding a plane to Menorca… wait what??? Backtrack a minute, married after two months and not going to the Maldives…in my head, all I could hear in my head was dun dun dun.

Was I wrong? Well, what do you think? lol. However, I am not going to spoil it to for you. One niggle I had was the plot twist, it did feel a bit left field…however….there was a reason for this and those final sentences by Ms Halsall well you sent the chills down my spine and again you completely played me! You threw so many things at me and left my head spinning for sure, but I can not get over those final chilling sentences! You will haunt me with that!

This is the second book I have read by Ms Halsall after she threw curveballs at me in Love You Gone, I knew I would be in for a treat and I truly was not let down. I already have one author who sends me to crazy town, I find that Halsall has characters that will be trying to steal my straight jacket. *Spoiler Alert* it’s my jacket and I am not sharing.

The Honeymoon is one addictive reading, it is pure escapism and when you are not marvelling at the scenery in front of you, you are marvelling at how these people allowed themselves to get in these situations. It has certainly kept my head spinning, never quite sure what was going to happen next. I love books that allow you the opportunity to lose yourself in, to completely immerse yourself in all of its glory. This one does not cease to fail in that for sure, one to read around the poolside….unless you are on your honeymoon, then maybe go and get a plane ticket and go home NOW!

This was my first book by this author. Some very nice twists.........my issue with that is, I had to plow through roughly the first half to get there. I just had a LOT of issues with Chloe. SERIOUSLY! What an idiot! Who marries a guy with no job or plans of any sort for the future AND is also a huge liar?? Granted, she did not realize the liar part til afterwards, but still...... Sheesh!! I am still glad that I stuck with it though, as the second half picked up and was actually pretty fun! I will give Ms. Halsall another chance. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

Newlywed Chloe can't believe her luck in finding Dan, her extremely kind, compassionate and handsome husband. While on her honeymoon on a remote island they talk about how they would love to stay like this forever. Dan decides that they should, and will and Chloe doesn't have a choice. This is so suspenseful that it almost made me claustrophobic and I found myself reading it at a break neck pace.

A lesson is not marrying someone you dont know!!
Chloe falls head over heels with Dan and they get married within weeks, both have secrets but Dan seems especially sneeky and when they get to the airport he has changed the honeymoon from the Maldives to Menorca!! ( could have been worse I guess and been Morecombe 😎 ), things really go from bad to worse from that point and Chloe after unburdening herself of her ‘secret’ realises Dan isent going to and plans her escape.....the story then continues with the aftermath of this and Dan’s secret is exposed and all the choas it brings, I enjoyed more the first 50% of the book and the last 25% of the book but all of it kept me wanting to go back and find out what, why, how and when!!
Chloe was at times annoying, do these lead girls not read any books and realise NEVER get involved with someone who has no friends, its a giveaway that all is not well, am kinda joking but.....she kept forgiving things most of us would have ‘jumped on’ immediately and known all was not well!
Dan was controlling and I didnt warm to him at all
I liked Chloe’s miserable Gran although her sharp retorts had me wincing ( and smiling )
The ending was three fold and imo well done
The writing was easy style and all in all a perfectly reasonable psychological thriller that maybe you had to take some things that happened with a pinch of salt but I did enjoy it
8/10 4 Stars

It’s not often I read a full novel in a few hours but I could not put this down!

I was enthralled by the end of the first chapter, that is always a good sign that I’ll enjoy the book.

The storyline kept me reading more and I found I was time watching to finish work so I could get back to reading again.

The start caused me to have deja vu! That didn’t put me off though! It sucked me in more as I could fully connect with Chloe’s anxieties.

This novel was an amazing story, fully of intrigue, packed with shocks and an ending that pleased.

I’ll be looking up this authors other novels due to the standard of storytelling in this one!

Perfect psychological thriller! It moved at a fast pace with twists and turns throughout! I couldn’t put it down! Highly recommend!

The Honeymoon is a book I have given to my eighteen year old daughter to read in case she gets swept off her feet like Chloe did.
The book starts off at a fast pace, Chloe meets Dan, Chloe is swept off her feet by the most perfect guy she could ever hope to meet, married in 2 months, yes 2 months!! To then go and have the honeymoon from hell!! Dan changes whilst on honeymoon going overly protective, hiding Chloe’s bag, money and phone telling her it’s because he wants to keep her safe, she can’t go back home as it’s not safe, Dan sleepwalks and is violent in them. What is the truth, who is she in danger from and why can’t she go back home.
This was a fast paced, twisty and scary ride, the plot is helped by the well written characters and a really, really good ending that I didn’t guess.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

I wanted to read this book as the premise really intrigued me, but sadly I was disappointed, I found it to be rather far- fetched and the character of Chloe was a bit too feeble. I have seen other reviews from people who have enjoyed it but it wasn't for me.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to.

I have never read a book filled with so many question marks. Chloe brings new meaning to the word indecisive. In the blurb it says he won't let her leave when in fact she does leave but then....she goes back. It is definitely a wild and unpredictable ride.

The Honeymoon by Rona Halsall. My opinion is objective and received this book by Net Galley for review. While the story is easy reading I did find myself “skipping” sentences because the main character kept doubting herself. It was starting to repeat itself. The story is a thriller and very interesting how the author had all the answers.
