Would you marry someone after 2 months of knowing them? Chloe is besotted with the new love of her life and that’s exactly what she does. However, from the moment they reach the airport to travel to their romantic honeymoon destination she begins to wonder as to whether or not this is all a big mistake. With each revelation bigger than the one before the tangle of lies and truths leaves Chloe very vulnerable. I really enjoyed this plot and the cork screw chain of events that’s build up to a very shocking ending.

So this book had such a mysterious element to it. It really kept me guessing the whole way through. I actually spent the entire book teetering between Dan being the bad guy and Dan not being the bad guy. I was wrong on my predictions because like all great thrillers there was a massive game changing twist at the end which I loved!
I really loved the setting of this book, it was set in a sleepy town in Spain The description was so great that I actually felt like I was reading the book in the sun by the beach.

Dan's character was written well too, he was so charming and really seemed to care for Chloe, I really couldn't decide if I trusted him or not. I actually started putting myself in Chloe's shoes and I really don't know what I would have done if I was her.
Chloe's character started off a little annoying, she seemed to let the world walk all over her, yet by the end I'd got to see her transform into a strong woman who wouldn't take any stick from anybody. It was great to see her transition.
Overall I absolutely loved this book, it was a real page turner, it was bursting with mystery and deeply buried secrets. I am so glad I requested this one!

I chose this book based on the title, since I'm currently engaged and have been drawn to everything and anything wedding related. I also had been craving an edge on your seat thriller. Unfortunately, this wasn't that for me. The writing is great and it's a well structured book, but plot wise it just wasn't as wild and crazy as I was hoping. I had it figured out pretty much from the beginning, and then there was a glimmer of hope that there was a giant twist, only to be disappointed by it at the end. I had completely guessed the outcome.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy this book, I obviously kept reading and finished it. I think i just went into it with the expectation that it was something else. It's enjoyable and a great beach read for the summer time, but it wasn't the edge of you seat thriller I was hoping for.

I don't like to give a negative review. I read only for fun and usually a description of a book is good enough for me to know if I'll enjoy it. This book is very much reminiscent of Fifty Shades of Gray without the sex. What is left is a story about two vapid people who have no redeeming qualities and a story that's pretty flat. I kept waiting and waiting for something interesting to happen but the way it's told is like watching an independent movie with a very low budget.

Originally the cover and plot really drew me in, but overall this book was just okay for me. The twists felt a bit surface level and overall I couldn't wait for the book to be over. Disappointing to say the least.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

I absolutely 100% loved this book! A 5 star read....wish I could say the same for that vacation destination LOL. I don't think that island will be getting any 5 star reviews...BAD things happen there AHAHA! :-)
The Honeymoon had it all...twists, turns, a beautiful setting, characters we want to hate and ones we want to love, paranoia, and a sense of something bad about to happen.
I really like Rona Halsall's writing and the way her mind works. She made a picture perfect love on a picture perfect tropical island into all things CRAZY AND TWISTED! Yet, I knew I would love this book from the description which was probably the most enticing description I have ever read. And the cover is just amazing. It has a 3D feel to it and as beautiful as it is, something ominous is rolling in with that tide...

Thank you to #NetGalley, the author and the publisher #bookcouture for this 5 star ARC book!!

Marry in Haste and Repent at Leisure

This just about sums up The Honeymoon.

When Chloe and Dan get married very quickly after meeting and things starting going wrong at the airport , you want to say don't get on that plane.

Dan does not wish to return from their honeymoon and suddenly , or is it, he has become a very controlling man.

You want to yell at Chloe , please just run for your life.

The Honeymoon is a good quick read, the pages will fly by , you want to find out what happens to Chloe because you know she just couldn't be that naive. Could she ???

Thanks to Net Galley and Bookouture for the opportunity to sit down and read The Honeymoon.

An addictive read to begin with. Dan changes the honeymoon destination for Chloe who has always dreamed of going to the Maldives. She's only known him two months and has married him. I was initially hooked and there were good qualities that drew me in. However I felt there were too many signposts to the reader given by the author. I also didn't like the fact that Chloe blamed herself for her mum's death for so many years and when Dan says it wasn't her fault she just accepts this and the guilt is gone and she doesn't think she's a killer anymore. I guess it is part of the genre being a psychological thriller but I felt that some of the character's reasons were convenient to the plot line rather than a truth to the story being told and this is where the book let me down. Therefore I would give a 3 and a half because I did want to read this book but, to me, some actions and thoughts felt implausible and left me thinking, really. Thank you to Neutrally and the publisher for letting me review this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

After a short and whirlwind of a romance, newlyweds, Chloe and Daniel, are off on their honeymoon. Whilst Chloe dreamt of a honeymoon at Maldives, her husband decided to whisk her off to Menorca, one of Spain’s Balearic islands in the Mediterranean Sea. She shouldn’t have agreed to board that plane – because she would eventually land up in the midst of her worst possible nightmare.

Soon after boarding, Chloe began to feel that Dan wasn’t himself. And this wasn’t the man she had fallen in love with. Things start to go even more awry when Dan slowly starts watching and controlling her every movement. He says it is to “keep her safe” – but safe from what?
The icing on the cake is when he announces that he would like them to stay in Menorca – forever. Chloe is a physiotherapist – she has a job back in Brighton and her grandma to take care off. She possibly couldn’t give everything up and settle in Menorca.
However, Dan doesn’t leave her with any options. He has ensured that Chloe would not be able to go back to her previous life – it’s as if her existence in Brighton has been wiped off.

What is Dan hiding? Why the need to be so secretive and remain in seclusion?

Told alternatively between the then and the now, this is a gripping and twisty read which will keep you hooked till the end. The twists keep coming – and just when you think you have it sorted, something else will happen.
This book also shows you how little you can know of someone. We only see what they want us to see. Is it ever possible to know someone completely? Most importantly, no matter how much you love someone, getting married within two months of meeting them, is perhaps not the smartest thing to do!

The Honeymoon tries so hard to be a psychological thriller but it is basically a beach read with a twist. The plot is engaging but only on a superficial level and while there are many questions asked of the reader throughout the book, it is very hard to care enough to wonder about the answers.
The main plot of the female lead left me feeling disappointed, as she was weak and manipulated by everyone in her life and she didn't learn from her mistakes. I wanted to shake her and she frustrated me, because I wanted to ask her 'How did you think you could agree to spend the rest of your life with someone you only met?' I'm a firm believer in love at first sight and romance, but the signs were there while they were dating and I just thought 'REALLY?' Too unbelievable.

This book had such a strong start - I was desperate to find out exactly what was going on, what Chloe had done and what Dan was up to. I was sucked in by the pacing and the suspense was building with each page, but then the ending really let me down. It had so much promise and I flew through the first two-thirds, only to be disappointed by how it turned out. Chloe had been such a strong character throughout, but it felt like she turned into a pushover overnight. It's a shame as I thoroughly enjoyed the first part of the book, but the ending felt rushed in comparison. I'm excited to read some more of Rona Halsall's work regardless as she has a style I really respond to!

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a good premise that I thought I would really enjoy but it ended up being generally pretty boring. Chloe marries Dan after only knowing him for 2 months. He is late for the wedding and then when they get to their honeymoon destination, he has switched it from a beach resort in the Maldives, her dream honeymoon, to a house in Menorca. Dan lies and acts weird throughout, telling Chloe they are in danger but he can’t tell her why. Chloe behaves like a fool continually forgiving him and not confronting him about why the hell they are in danger. She was too stupid for me to deal with. I was pretty bored until end where there were some reveals and mild surprises but I just wanted it to be over by then.

Chloe really wanted to get married and have a family. And then the man of her dreams came along and swept her off her feet. They were married in just a few months. On their honeymoon, Chloe saw an entirely different side to her new husband. He became very controlling. She realized then that she really didn't much know this man at all. What ensued was a nightmare of trying to get out of his grasp. Great suspenseful read!

This is a very good idea and it works. There are a few cliches but it was so multi-layered that they didn't spoil anything.  I have read all three of Rona Halsall's books now and each one just gets better, stronger and more tightly written.

The story begins as newly wed Chloe is racing through the airport with husband Dan who is everything she wanted and never thought she'd find; caring,  protective, strong, what could possibly go wrong?

With a past that won't go away for either of them, family problems snaking through Chloe's reactions and reasoning and an idyllic location spread out before them the scene is set very quickly and expertly. Gradually the tension increases, little things racking up the pressure and changing everything. None of this is totally new but the difference in this psychological thriller is the way Chloe internalises and analyses everything and that cuts out any chances of there being disbelief in her situation.

There was a need to keep reading, to find out what happens next with the main characters, all of whom worked, alone and as a group, and the whole story was, once completed, a very satisfying experience.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review and would recommend it to any fan of this ever improving author or fans of very good British psychological thrillers.

This is a classic example of a marriage in haste! Dan and Chloe meet and are engaged in a month and married only two months after meeting each other.

Most of Chloe's expectations are not met, however. This, due to a controlling new husband. Honeymoon in the Maldives? Nope. Menorca. And the little villa is already chosen by Dan - and it is locked tight a drum at all times.

Dan's controlling attitude has Chloe thinking that he is hiding something from her. In my opinion, Chloe does not handle the changes in her honeymoon plans well. She also is derogatory about any and every little thing. If she had learned to "pick her battles" with Dan, and maybe kept some of her thoughts to herself, Chloe wouldn't be in the predicament she ultimately finds herself in. Eventually, she "escapes" back to Brighton and finds out her Gran doesn't need her there. In fact, she feels completely alone.

After a few days, Chloe returns to Menorca and to Dan. Now the fun REALLY begins...

A winner in my opinion!

Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for a great read!

Chloe meets Dan, and they have a quick, exciting courtship. Before Chloe knows it, they are getting married and off on the honeymoon of her dreams. Except, not quite.

First off, the cover of this books is gorgeous. It’s what drew me to it initially.
The story inside is delightful. Vivid and captivating, it’ll keep you in your toes.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book!!

Thank you Netgalley for the advanced copy of "The Honeymoon".
I am not familiar with the author Rona Halsall, but the cover and description of the book had me wanting to read on and see what would unfold.
As with all very good Physcological Thrillers, The Honeymoon had me hooked when i started it early on Friday evening, I woke Saturday morning replaying the events in my head as you would with a good TV series... I decided today -Saturday- would be spent at home finishing this storyline, I was so intrigued as to what the twist would be, as well as feeling on edge and frustrated by the 2 main characters! Anyway, it's now 2.30pm and I've finished the book! It totally gripped me, I felt compelled to read on and not stop!, At 91% I thought the story had come to it's conclusion.... But no I was wrong!! That last 9% still had more sneaky horrors waiting to unravel themselves! I thoroughly enjoyed reading my first book by this author, would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND AND DEFINITELY READ ANOTHER BOOK By this author! Bravo, great writing without a second thought!

This book is pacy and tense and everything you’ll want from a thriller!

Rona Halsall is an expert in misdirection and had me racing through The Honeymoon. I thought I knew exactly what this book was going to be about but I was wrong. Fantastic!
