ᴡᴏʀsᴛ. ʜᴏɴᴇʏᴍᴏᴏɴ. ᴇᴠᴇʀ.

This was a fast-paced addictive read that left my head spinning! Girl meets boy. Girl goes out with boy. Girl falls in love with boy. Girl marries boy after only knowing him for two months. And what follows is the honeymoon from hell! Chloe and Dan Mary after a two month whirlwind romance. What transpires is Chloe on an island with a man she doesn’t even know. Her sweet loving fiancé has turned into a controlling husband, and he claims it is for her own safety. But what is true and what is a lie? Chloe knows way too much about secrets because she has one of her own.

If your child ever comes home wanting to marry somebody after only knowing them for a short time hand them this book, they will probably change their mind. Dan what a weirdo! I had no idea what his agenda was, what he was up to, if he was telling the truth or telling lies, but something about him just gave me the heebie-jeebies. Chloe I felt so bad for her. She was caring around so much guilt and that really made her so vulnerable, so right for the picking. For the majority of this book I had no idea what direction it was going in. Every time it zigged or zagged I was surprised. I and just when I thought everything was all good... Think again!

A wonderful quick absorbing story, perfect for those lazy afternoons by the pool. A wild tale full of crazy characters that will completely intrigue you!

What an incredible roller-coaster ride! The Honeymoon was full of twists and turns and I simply could not put this one down! I loved the author's writing style and how she transformed a picture perfect honeymoon destination into something twisted.

Some characters we loved and others we loved to hate. This book really makes the reader see what can happen if you marry someone without fully getting to know your partner. Both Dan and Chloe had something big to hide from each other and the way it all exploded was crazy! Some things I was able to predict while others I absolutely did not see coming at all. And the ending was truly shocking! A must read for sure!

This is a better than average domestic thriller. I really liked the way the main character, Chloe, is always questioning and rationalizing her thinking when it comes to her husband Dan. She knows that things are wrong and instead of blindly going along with it she stands up for herself. Sometimes, it feels like too much rationalizing on her part but overall I think the author, Rona Halsall, does a good job of not making Chloe a doormat. Chloe and Dan’s relationship was definitely rushed but at the same time it felt authentic. I fully believed that Chloe loves Dan and I could feel her pain and confusion over what was happening.

In the beginning of the book there are flashbacks and I didn’t like that it didn’t continue throughout the whole story. If you are familiar with my reviews you know that I am big on how a story is formatted. I would have preferred for the book to keep the same flow throughout the story. Also, there were a few times where there were flashbacks within flashbacks and I didn’t find them necessary.

I enjoyed the bulk of the story from when the honeymoon starts until the ending. It was well paced and I liked all the revelations that came out. The ending felt a bit over the top for me but it was still a fun read. I also really enjoyed the whole character arc for Chloe and the growth that she makes as a character. The unpredictably of Dan made the book very suspenseful as well because I was never quite sure what he was going to do or how far he was going to go.

I think that a lot of people would enjoy this book. If you are a fan of romance and/or thrillers then I definitely suggest you check this book out. It does a fabulous job of pushing the limits on what seems like a basic domestic thriller.

Well - the cover is beautiful.

The story of the Honeymoon, however, left me unfulfilled. Chloe and Dan are married after a whirlwind romance and now they are on their honeymoon and Chloe starts seeing warning signs from Dan. They both have a history full of secrets and lies that they've kept from each other but Chloe wonders if there's something more about Dan that she should be scared of.

Honestly - the book was slow and Chloe was annoying AF.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

At first glance I thought this book would be my next favorite thriller. Romance mixed with suspense set in paradise paired with a gorgeous cover, sold! I wanted to like this book, but as the novel progressed I found myself rolling my eyes nearly every page. The main character, Chloe came off completely weak to me - I'd say more than 2/3 of the entire novel is filled with pages of Chloe second-guessing herself or being a doormat, yawn. I couldn't wrap my head around why her and Dan would get married after 2 months - they didn't seem head over heels in love or anything... I also found myself in shock of how mean-spirited and rude Chloe's entire family was. Overall, I couldn't find any character to root for or even vaguely connect to which made the whole book a flop for me. Rounding up 2.5 stars to 3 because it was still a page turner and kept me curious of what secret Dan was keeping. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I’ve had my eye on this book for a little while, I was drawn in by the cover… and it’s a thriller? Yes, please!

I was drawn in from the very first chapters, Chloe’s character especially interested me. In fact it reminded me of Behind Closed Doors by B.A Paris when I first started reading.

Chloe and Dan meet, fall in love and marry in the space of two months followed by a honeymoon, one that Chloe wasn’t expecting. She’d always dreamed of the Maldives but instead they traveled to Menorca. Suspicions and red flags are raised as Dan becomes increasingly territorial, hiding Chloe’s possessions and obsessing over locked doors and windows. Chloe seemed to not notice (or ignore) these odd actions and I found myself wanting to yell at her, warn her, make her listen that it wasn’t normal.

It’s faced paced, quick and a page-turner and I found it easy to get into, drawn into Chloe and Dan’s whirlwind romance, knowing that it had to be too good to be true. Chloe seemed to make bad decision after bad decision, but we’ve all been there! I also desperately wanted to find out why Dan was so paranoid. Something was off. What secret was he hiding?

I was totally immersed in this book, needing more. There are twists and turns even I did expect right up until the last page.

A full recommendation if you are in to psychological thrillers and love a clever plot.

I would love to read more from this author.

Chloe had the dream wedding. Dan is her perfect man. They haven’t known each other for long, but as she walked down the aisle and saw him standing by the altar, tears glistening in his eyes, she knew this was forever.

Later, as they relax on a beautiful island, settling in to their new married life together, they congratulate themselves on their lovely wedding day, and Dan jokes that he’d like them to stay there forever but as the honeymoon goes on, he becomes increasingly adamant. They shouldn’t leave. In fact, he won’t let her…

This is a great psychological thriller, I love domestic thrillers between husband and wife! It was a quick read with plenty of twists and turns.

“I’m your husband, Chloe. We’re a partnership now and we do what’s best for us as a couple. Staying here is going to be the best option.’ He picked up his drink and took a sip. ‘It’s not open for discussion. We’re not going home."
I saw this cover a couple months back and was automatically drawn to it. I love a good thriller and a good thriller in a tropical location is even better. I was so excited to get this ebook for free through NetGalley. Chloe and Dan are married having only known each other for a very short time. Chloe is the happiest she has ever been. They end up on this remote island and Dan never wants to leave. I really don't want to give to much away but they keep you guessing about Dan he goes from loving to aggressive. Each chapter gives you new thoughts and questions about what the heck is really going on.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the end. It was so hard to figure out who was the one lying and deceiving. I want to say so much more but do not want to give anything away. Big thanks to NetGalley and Rona Halsall for letting me read this book and review it in advance.

Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

In the beginning it felt like I’ve read this book before, it reminded me too much of Behind Closed Doors by B.A Paris. But then it took on a life of its own and I can’t say that I particularly liked the book. It’s a very quick read though. I really hated Chloe’s inner thoughts in the beginning, I hated Dan who always had to say “I love you so much babe” all the time, I both loved and hated gran, and I wanted to smack Chloe’s siblings. As someone said, if you can get through the first 3/4, the last 1/4 is kinda okay. I would not have finished this if I didn’t have to review it. I will admit to laughing out loud at the ending (not the epilogue)
This is an okay book if you’re looking for something quick (I read it in under 2 hours)

Chloe and Dan marry after knowing each other for only two months, and the book starts with them going on their honeymoon. Dan has cancelled Chloe's dream honeymoon, and they're flying to a different country. Chloe's mad, but Dan's just trying to be romantic, isn't he?

I really wanted to like this book, but I couldn't connect with the characters. I couldn't understand why Chloe didn't leave Dan early on, or why she kept trying to justify his behaviour.

There are secrets revealed throughout the book, both Chloe's and her husband's, to build up the tension as we try to understand what they're both hiding. I also enjoyed the clues scattered throughout as to the twists in the book, but sadly I couldn't get over my frustration with Chloe to fully engage with this.

I'll admit that I'm not a very romantic person (and I don't tend to enjoy romance in books and films) so if you're a more romantic person you might find it easier to understand Chloe and enjoy this more than I did.

I will try other books by this author, but this one wasn't my cup of tea.

The cover of this book really caught my eye and I wasn't disappointed by the inside either!

Chloe is caught up in a whirlwind romance and accepts Dan's proposal of marriage, this is her chance to rewrite her life and change the narrative of her childhood.

She is excited to head off on her faraway honeymoon, lovingly arranged by Dan, but when she gets on the plane the destination is the least of her worries, Dan's behaviour becomes weirder by the day and Chloe is left wondering if she made the right choice.

Great beach read - thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book, this is my honest opinion.

Chole never thought she would find love – she has spent the majority of her adult-life caring for her elderly Grandmother, leaving little time for romance. Enter Dan: handsome, charming, and head-over-heels in love with Chloe. After two months, they get married and on their way to an idyllic honeymoon in the Maldives. However, at the airport, Dan explains they are going to Spain, not the Maldives. When they get to Spain, Chloe sees a new side of Dan: paranoid and aggressive. He insists that they stay in Spain permanently. Chloe wonders how much she really knows about her new husband?

The Honeymoon was a quick, page-turner. Much of the book is spent with Chloe second guessing her relationship with Dan, which at times felt trying as the reader. Overall, I was pleased – The Honeymoon has a clever plot, including some unexpected twists and turns up until the last page.

Enjoyed the book even though I hated all the characters, except for Chloe (who made horrible decisions) and Janelle. I liked the story and needed to find out why Dan was so paranoid and scared for their safety. It was a quick read, mainly because I ever put the book down. Red flags, flashing red lights and sirens screaming danger were waving all over in front of Chloe and she never noticed them or chose to ignore them. The change to the honey was a HUGE one, which Chloe didn't find out about until they were running to their gate to catch their plane. I googled Menorca and it looks beautiful, but the locking of all the doors, windows, missing phone, missing purse and being held a hostage by my new husband would have freaked me out. Chloe seems mystified that she doesn't know much about her new husband. Maybe that could be because you got married two months after meeting Dan???? Chloe definitely hit the lottery in horrible family members. They actually blamed Chloe for her mom's death. Her sister Lucy was a wretched beast and her grandmother as so ungrateful for all the care Chloe provided to her. Her grandma sends Chloe right back to the island even after she finds out how Dan was treating her, the bank account problem, the apartment and the job issue. There were so many twists and turns. Through it all Chloe keeps loving Dan. It seems like he can do anything to her and she still loves him. I blame it on her horrible family. She just wants someone to love. I didn't expect who was behind everything and the reasons seemed very extreme. I did enjoy the ending!! KARMA.

Definitely recommend the book. I can't wait to read more books by the author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bookouture through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

After their romantic whirlwind of a wedding, Chloe and her new husband are rushing to board their flight. It's not until Dan hands over the tickets that she realizes he's changed their honeymoon destination from the one she's spent her whole life dreaming of. The Spanish island where he's booked their stay will be better he assures her, quieter and more romantic. It quickly becomes obvious that Dan's new honeymoon plan is nothing like the one she dreamed of. Then he reveals that they won't be going back home.

I read this one almost straight through. It's fast paced, with a twisting plot that sometimes felt kind of over-the-top. Chloe is in a bad situation, but some of the things that she seems willing to accept are such huge red flags that I don't know how she could explain them away for an instant.

The Honeymoon is an addicting phycological thriller that had me on the edge of my seat and glued to my kindle through out the whole book. Chloe fell in love with Dan fast and hard, so fast that she finds herself married very quickly and then on the way to their perfect honeymoon she finds out that she doesn't know Dan at all and that she will not be going to the perfect honeymoon as planned...…. insert dramatic music and head right to amazon and get this book!
I look forward to reading more from Rona!!

An easy to read and fast paced book that kept me enthralled from beginning to end. ‘The Honeymoon’ was the first book I’d read by this author but it definitely won’t be the last! A recommended 4 stars. Look out for my full review as part of the blog tour soon.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was a fairly quick read for me and very similiar to a number of books I have read. How well do you really know someone seems to be a question asked in many books and this one is no different. I will tell you, Chloe drove me sort of crazy. So many red flags were waved in my head while reading about their whirlwind romance. One thing that made this book stand out a little bit was that chloe had her own secrets too and she wonders if the less than perfect honeymoon (to say the least) is part of her payback.

It was a decent read, I was interested enough to keep reading it and wouldn't mind reading more from this author.

This is the first book I''ve read from Rona Halsall and it was a great read.Chloe meets Dan and it really is love at first site and within 2 months they are married with Chloe's dream honeymoon to the Maldives to look forward to but at the airport Dan shocks her when he says that they're going to Menorca instead for safety reasons ! From that point on Chloe realises how little she actually knows about her new husband and her life goes from bad to worse when he tells her they can't return home. With plenty of twists and turns to keep you gripped this really is a great psychological thriller that kept me glued to the book until the end.A definite 5 star read for me and Rona Halsall has a new fan.

This review will go live on 22 June:

In Rona Halsall’s The Honeymoon we meet Chloe and Dan, about to embark on their honeymoon to the Maldives... Or so Chloe thinks, because once at the airport, she finds out her lifelong Maldivian dream won’t be coming true any time soon, because she’s going to Menorca, which is a unilateral decision made by her brand-new husband. I don’t know about you emancipated gals out there, but I’m not even sure I would have stepped foot on that plane without a proper explanation. Chloe on the other hand is annoyed but somehow also rather meek, which was, quite frankly, the beginning of the end of our friendship. And it got worse before it got better: very soon I disliked both Dan and Chloe. Dan is controlling and secretive, Chloe is the queen of inner turmoil, continually complaining and doubting everything, but too meek to actually pose her questions and demand answers. I was constantly rolling my eyes and sighing at them both. Don’t get me wrong: I love a character I can hate, but in this case I just got annoyed by all the whining and whinging, and it all but ruined the story for me too. Mind, this is a personal hang-up, the story is well-written and well-paced, going back from present to past, and finding out both Chloe’s and Dan’s secrets and it has a nice flow to it, so if you like the premise, give it a whirl and don’t let my own whinging about the characters stop you! I do have to say, the finale did surprise me and somewhat redeemed the novel in my eyes, making me land on 3 stars: overall an okay read that most will probably enjoy more than I did.
Many thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the e-ARC.

This is a fantastic psychological thriller that had me hooked from the first few pages.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book as the blurb suggested a marriage takes a strange turn when the husband doesn’t want to leave the honeymoon destination.
This book is so much more than just this but I really don’t want to spoil it for you.
Chloe and Dan get married very quickly and it’s not until the honeymoon that she realises she knows very little about him. When she tries to ask him about himself he avoids the question so Chloe becomes more and more frustrated.
It gets to the point where she needs to know his background and from this point, there’s no turning back.
This is a brilliant thriller that will have you racing through the pages to find out what happens.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
