This was a cute romance and my first by this author. I liked the story and would recommended it. Worth a read!

She’s a vegetarian. He owns a barbecue joint dedicated to all things meat. They say opposites attract! Let’s put that saying to the test.

This is a sweet romance that will put a smile on your face, and is the perfect beach read. The progression of Valerie and Hutch’s relationship seemed so cute and natural that it almost felt like we were witnessing the romance of two friends rather than two fictional characters. At first they engage in some light verbal sparring after Hutch fells a tree into Valerie’s yard. It’s definitely some good-natured sparring, and never crosses the line into rude or demeaning. Valerie’s “…ability to dish right back what Hutch was serving was a trait he probably wasn’t used to in women”, and this unique feature of her personality draws him in and won’t let go.

As Hutch attempts to fix her yard after the damage he caused, Valerie sees a sweet side to this barbecue boy, and it doesn’t take long before they both can’t stop thinking about each other. They slowly get to know each other, and open up about personal details of their lives. We never see anything over-the-top sexual, and there are no instances of being pushed up against a wall in a fiery moment of passion. Instead we see delicate kisses in the warm Texas countryside with fireflies flitting about. Soft touches and intimate caresses. We’ve really been provided with a window into the developing relationship between this couple.

This is a quick read that’s ideal for the beach. It never gets too steamy, but instead there’s a sweet side to the natural romance developing between Valerie and Hutch. The community of Last Stand is an integral part of this relationship, and the additional aspect of Hutch and his brother fighting over the future of their family’s business was just as intriguing. Overall it’s a cute read that will leave you hungry for barbecue and sweet tea!

Valerie Perry is only in town to fix up and sell her grandmother's home. She doesn't have time for distractions. Then a tree falls into her yard damaging some plants, narrowly missing her car and cracking the flagstone in her walkway. Thanks to some big, handsome man who shows up at her door to apologize and offer his help.

Bubba Hutchinson trying to help a friend when the tree they are felling needs to fall on the neighbors property in order to save the neighborhood dog, Nod. How can he explain to the pretty lady that a dog made him do it. She is feisty and sassy and he is attracted to her. He owns a BBQ restaurant and she is a vegetarian. There is no way these two could be attracted to each other. They are too different, right?

I read these books out of order. I read the 2nd book in this series first but I enjoyed both very much. The story was sweet, genuine and full of wonderful characters.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

Short, sweet romance based in a small town in Texas. The BBQ descriptions were fantastic and left me wanting to head to Mikeska's BBQ in Columbus, TX (my fave BBQ place!) I love stories about romance but really hate books that leave nothing to the imagination. Audrey Wick's style of character and plot development hit that sweet spot for me - being swept up in the characters' gradual realizations of their feelings for each other without feeling like the story or the details are too graphic. Loved this story, and it made me glad to have a cowboy of my own! Pairs well with a glass of sweet tea.

Great plot. Good story line. Characters were very well developed. I’d recommend it to my friends and family for reading

I enjoyed On the Market, a sweet contemporary small town romance set in Last Stand Texas. The story is filled with family and community themes and strongly emphasises heritage as hero Bubba Hutchinson learns how to promote and grow his family business while remaining true to his grandfather’s ideals. For heroine Valerie Perry, coming to Last Stand to prepare her grandmother’s house for sale is an eye opener and has her questioning everything about her way of life.
I found the characters in this story to be a bit flat and the pace a bit slow though it was still a sweet story. The big bonus for me was at the end where author Audrey Wick has included some fabulous recipes. They truly like this from a three star read to four stars.

Very cute, clean first book in a new series. Valerie and Hutch have a "meet cute" when he drops a tree onto her driveway. Valerie has inherited her grandmother's house in Last Stand and is in town for two weeks to get it ready for the market. Hutch's family owns the BBQ Hut. They keep running into each other, partly because he has to repair the damage the tree caused. There is a growing attraction between them that they know they can't act on with her leaving in 2 weeks. Then when Hutch asks her what home means to her it makes her question her life up to this moment. As the memories of the time she spent with her grandmother as a girl slowly return Valerie remembers how happy her grandmother was in that house. It makes her rethink her plan. But is the gentleman of cowboy enough to make her change her mind? Great afternoon read!

I thought this book was seriously such a cute read. I loved the togetherness of the small town in this book. I loved how Hutch wore his heart on his sleeved but also had this tough dude exterior to him as well. I liked how Valerie had this self discovery to her she worked hard to keep the goal she set but was also willing to face he new options as well. I liked that this was a good clean read. I have never read anything by this author and I can't wait to read more from her. This book was a quick read and you can't go wrong.

I was easily caught up in ON THE MARKET, the first story in The Texas BBQ Brothers series taking place in Last Stand, Texas (which is a small town community much like Tule’s Marietta, Montana slightly connecting line). Valerie is in Last Stand for a very short period of time while she gets the house she inherited from her grandmother ready to sell. Her life is back in the city, although memories of Last Stand are slowly returning. Her introduction to Hutch gave me a smile since that meeting involves a chainsaw. (I kid you not – *impish grin*) Soon the obvious attraction between the vegetarian, Valerie and the BBQ man, Hutch are difficult for them to ignore.

ON THE MARKET lays the groundwork for another slightly connecting series that all play out in the community of Last Stand, Texas. Hutch and Valerie’s story is novella length but it packs a powerful emotional punch as well as introduces us to more members of Last Stand. I liked the people I met in this first story. Hutch is refreshingly just himself. What you see is pretty much what you get, he doesn’t play games. Valerie is a bit more complex in that she may see the city as “home” she’s beginning to question the true meaning of that word as staying with Hutch becomes more and more of a temptation.

I had fun, and that is the whole point. I love a small town community and this group of individual series set in this Texas town is exactly the reading experience that I enjoy. If you love a small town romance, likable and believable characters and secondary characters who charm while waiting for their stories to be told — then you’d love ON THE MARKET. I’d not hesitate to recommend this story or the series to any Romance reader.

Another visit to my new favorite fictional town of Last Stand, Texas with On The Market by Audrey Wick. Valeria Perry is planning on a visit there too, nothing permanent as she readiest a home for sale. Of course, Hutch never plans to leave since he is third generation running The Hut BBQ Restaurant there in Last Stand..

Renovations, BBQ restaurants, falling trees, conflicting opinions, a two week deadline and strong pull of attraction are just part of this sweet romance. It has a quick pace with engaging characters who fit just right together in spite of their negative first meeting. A heartwarming story that makes the point that opposites can and sometimes do belong together.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved the absolute sweetness of this book about Hutch and Valerie in Last Stand, TX. Hutch is an endearing person-no pretensions, just being himself. Valerie is rather lost between her life in San Antonio and her resurfacing memories of summers in Last Stand, determined to sell the house her grandmother left her and return to her “home.” Home is the operative word for the story. Is home where you live day to day or is it a bigger notion of belonging, of community and of love? Their back and forth play is adorable.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

On the Market by Audrey Wick
Will she be the secret ingredient to his happiness?
Valerie Perry has just inherited her grandmother’s home in Last Stand, Texas, a far cry in the country from her city life as an organic grocery buyer in San Antonio. Her methodical daily routine suits her just fine, so she aims to freshen up the property, sell it, and take her funds back to the city. She’s only got two weeks during her vacation to make this happen. Now is the time to cash in and get out.
The oldest Hutchinson son, who people around town know as “Hutch,” is a third generation local who is poised to take over the family business with his brother, Cole. The barbeque brothers have very different ideas about the future of their restaurant, “The Hut.” Just when he thought his biggest headache was his job, Hutch meets Valerie and both their worlds are upended. He’s drawn to this fish out of water, but Valerie’s time in Last Stand has an expiration date.
Their sweet and saucy styles don’t mix, but can they both find the recipe to a happy future?
This is Valerie Perry and Hutch's story.
Valerie had heard commotion outside and glimpsed a couple of guys with power tools in the neighbor’s yard. She was headed to the front door to get a better look when a crash reverberated the windowpanes and doorframes of the bungalow with earthquake force. Valerie’s freshly brewed mug of coffee slipped from her fingers and collided with the tile floor. She winced as her bare legs stung with heat from the splash.
Swinging open the front door to sidestep the mess, she met the cause of the commotion head-on. She cinched her thigh-high bathrobe tightly as she prepared to confront trouble in the making.
“Sorry about that.” A man’s voice roared over the sound of a still-running chainsaw, hoisted above a felled tree, as he waved at her.
Hutch squared off with Cole across a table in the dining area of their family business. Hutchinson’s barbeque market may be an institution in Last Stand, Texas, but the way the brothers had been feuding lately made the restaurant’s interior seem more like a wrestling ring.
Cole splayed his hands wide, stretching each finger before slackening them enough to continue hammering his latest idea. “The entrance of this place is really the problem. If we reconfigure, we’ll be able to draw in more customers and create a positive first impression for everyone who walks into The Hut.”
Hutch pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing heavily as he fought to stay still in his seat. “This is a barbeque market, not a sunroom.”
On the Market by Audrey Wick is a 4 star book.

An incredibly sweet story about two total opposites, a barbecue pit master and a vegetarian. It just goes to show how love can be found in the most unexpected expected places.

When Valerie inherits her grandmother’s house in Last Stand, Texas, the only thing on her mind is selling it and heading back to San Antonio. But, spending time in the small town and making new friends, especially the handsome Hutch, who is one of the owners of The Hut, a popular BBQ joint in town, plans can change pretty quick.

Hutch fell for Valerie right away, but she kept giving off vibes that told him to walk away. She wasn’t like any other women he had ever met and he was intrigued by her. But Hutch wonders if he should he really invest his time in a relationship that had a time limit on it?

This was such a fun book to read. I laughed in parts, I felt sad and worried in other parts, but most of all, it enjoyed watching Valerie and Hutch fall in love. And let’s not forget about all the BBQ talk. I was hungry the entire time. I need some good Texas BBQ now. I can’t wait to read Cole’s story in the next installment in The Texas BBQ Brothers series.

Well the book was ok at times it dragged for me and I do not think that I will continue the series it wasn't that good to me. Anyhoo we meet Valerie who has been given a house from her grandmother that passed away and she really didn't know much about her grandmother since she never spent much time with her and now she is in this small town trying to get it ready so she can go home to her real life in the city. She has given herself 2 weeks and she ends up meeting Hutch through a series of mishaps and he is instantly captivated with this woman. They start spending time together since he has to fix something he ruined and they start to develop a love affair and he is hoping that she stays..My favorite was Nod.

Fun story of big city girl comes to town to tie up some lose ends and meets small town boy, Hutch is co-owner of a family BBQ joint, he lives for the meat, is the charming small town handsome guy to catch the eye of the new woman in town, not just because he fells a tree in her yard and destroys a little property either. He notices chemistry between he and Valerie upon meeting, he pulls out his full charm and invites her to his family restaurant, he wants to show her his skills with his meat. Problem, Valerie is vegetarian. I found Hutch charming and funny, Valerie came across a little cold to me, it took me a long time to warm up to her but did enjoy the story to their HEA.

On the Market by Audrey Wick is the first book in the new contemporary romance The Texas BBQ Brothers series. While this is the first book in this series the town of Last Stand, Texas however has been featured in other romance series so the BBQ may be familiar to anyone having read other series but it’s not necessary to enjoy this one on it’s own.

In On the Market we have Valerie Perry who has been living in the city working as a organic food buyer and leads her own meatless healthy lifestyle. Valerie has just inherited her grandmother’s home in Last Stand and plans to take a two week vacation to fix it up to sell. However, after arriving in Last Stand Valerie finds herself continuously running into the oldest of the Hutchinson brothers who likes to go by Hutch. The two of them couldn’t be any more different but of course find themselves drawn to one another.

This was a sweet, clean romance with likable characters and that lovely small town charm. With On the Market being novella length and the looming two week deadline Valerie gives herself in the beginning I would warn you are going to find a quick pace within in case of preferring a slower building romance. For myself however I really enjoyed this one as it’s a good light hearted, one sitting read.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

This is a sweet romance that started due to a dog named “Nod”. It was either hit the dog or the roses, Hutch “Bubba” chose the roses . It was a hard sell , but “Valerie “ came around.
This book is about putting down roots, not leaving, and for Hutch cooperation and a little give and take with his business partner Cole (his brother).

A sweet and charming read. There is definitely chemistry between Valerie and Hutch. I like that Valerie had so many lovely memories about her grandmother. I like the writing and am looking forward to the next book.
