I chose to read this book because I need to radically improve my nutrition and have now started on a low carb diet. So a recipe book for one person made a lot of sense to me, as variety of tastes is one of the things that really make a difference when you are pursuing s long term weight loss strategy.
I enjoyed the common sense explanation at the front of the book which lays out exactly what and why a ketogenic diet is and also contains some useful suggestions for cooking oils and other cooking susbstances which advance the low carb diet.
The recipes are simple and straightforward and gave me some good ideas to vary the tastes for my palate. Lots of eggs, unsurprisingly, but also making lots of flavours and different textures. I found out about mayonnaise with MCT (coconut) oil and how to make chocolate-peanut butter no bakes. Sounds fab, I know, but Dana Carpender is no novice to this style of eating and cooking. Her sweet treats section comes with a stern warning: “.
Overall, though it is quite American in approach, I think this is a really useful recipe book to use in conjunction with your own calorie counting and carb watching regime. I’ll certainly be trying out more of these recipes as I go along.

Found this useful for me as I live alone. I found enough delicious meals to make. Easy to make and easy clean up . Sometimes I get more than one meal out of what I made.

A good collection of recipes to help this complete novice navigate the Keto way of life. I was a bit put off by the number of processed foods used but other than that, a very informative book.

Would have liked a few more vegetarian recipes to incorporate different types of proteins. I'm the only veggie/diet plan user in the house so it was great to have single portions

What a great little gem of a book this is. If you are a single person, or just find yourself on your own occasionally, this book has some great ideas and delectable, easy recipes to keep your hunger at bay.

The recipes are simple and easy and can extend to two if you so desire. Nutrition notes are at the end of each recipe and great tips and info for the recipes are also included.

Only a short 101 page book but it is surely packed with so much info and choices that it will be a definite book for hubby and I.

Thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Fair Winds Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I wish there were more cookbooks like this, not just for a ketogenic lifestyle, but in general. Sometimes people are single and need recipes for one, or sometimes people are the only ones in their house eating a particular way and this takes the guesswork out of downsizing a recipe and makes it easy to feed one person. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer. I do love that there is a section of sauces at the end. I am especially excited about the cheese sauce to pour over broccoli, cauliflower or whatever else. I thought it was a little heavy on the egg recipes but most Keto cookbooks are. I definitely hope there is an extended version or part 2 in the near future with even more great recipes for one!

Includes recipes specifically designed for just 1-2 servings to be made in the most convenient way possible. The use of one skillet meals, a no oven dinner, small and frozen prepackaged containers of vegetables and other foods are utilized for convenience. Consideration is given to planning meals with a related item so as to use up a leftover product that will not longer be wasted. Tips for making sure your body is truly in and and stays in Ketosis is provided, along with offering additional resources for further research and where to buy Keto supplies. There are recipes in every category from sides and drinks to salads and main dishes This truly appears to be a helpful guide for those wishing to lose weight via the low-carb method of ketosis, and one I am going to immediately try out myself following the suggestions in this title.

The whole keto diet ideal is relatively new to me. After hearing a lot from friends I admit to being intrigued and this cookbook is my first foray into exploring the subject. As someone that enjoys cooking and is a self proclaimed cookbook junkie, I found this to be a likable and welcome addition to my collection. A wide range of recipes, many attractive pictures, easy to follow directions and a very informative look into what the keto diet is and how it works, makes this book a great combination of practical and enjoyable. Having recipes that are curated for one to two people is a real plus as there are no endless leftovers or trying to successfully convert the recipe yourself. An excellent choice for anyone looking into going keto or those already living that way that just want a new collection of recipes to try out.

If you are considering a Keto Diet then this book not only has many useful recipes but it also explains pretty well the processes and theory of 'Keto'. I found it really helpful and led me to decide that a keto diet is not for me. I had a look at some of the recipes to see if I could make use of them on my diet plan but they are just too high in fat for me (but then this is the 'keto way'.)

Music to my heart is this book! I’ve been trying (and mostly succeeding) to lose weight via a low-carb diet for several months now, but oh, how difficult it is to find recipes and techniques for just one person! This superb book not only gives recipes that work for one, but the author’s introductory pages are full of tips on where and how to buy appropriate quantities and/or how to store items appropriately in small quantities where ‘buying small’ may not be possible.

I would, in fact, recommend this book based just on the introductory explanations of all things keto or low-carb diet related and the tips pages. The author takes an informal no-nonsense style, busting some of the common myths about ketogenic or low-carb diets (the two being almost but not quite the same thing, as is easily understood from the explanations). I was immensely relieved to find I really could drink no-cal, no-carb artificially-sweetened drinks, where purists had previously announced that these weren’t ‘allowed’ (says who?). Yes, I like cold water but on ultra-thirst-making hot days, there’s nothing quite like a fizzy lemonade and alleluia, I can have it! Dana you’re my hero.

Have waxed lyrical about the introductory chapter, there follows what look like some really yummy recipes in all the usual categories that you would expect of any recipe book. There is excellent photography, although my only slightly negative comment is that I would love to have seen pictures of all the recipes; however, there are still quite a large number of photos.

I shall most certainly be purchasing this book in ‘real’ form for myself, after having surveyed this electronic copy, and I have no doubt it will be well thumbed by this time next year!

This is a fantastic book! I love the recipes and the concept of cooking for just my husband and I instead of the kids and my in-laws as well. Sometimes the kids are eating something we prefer not to so this will be a great resource to refer to.

A great book for beginners who live alone, with a spouse, or don't want to force the rest of the family to eat keto! The recipes look delicious and I can't wait to try some of these mouthwatering meals.

Has some nice recipes and explains what Keto is in the beginning of the book.

What I didn’t like about this book was the buying instructions. Only “one-portion” sized foods for one meal at a time. Keto is supposed to be “clean” eating and buying pre-packaged, smaller sizes will have added ingredients that are not Keto friendly.

Also a lot of fish/sea food recipes. Not fond of those.

I did like the Chia recipes.

Easy to follow recipes that actually turn out as good as they look. I found myself utilizing this book more than once when planning menus for the week.

Coming from a person that has enjoyed the benefits of living the keto way of life for over two years, this book is great for a beginner, or anyone really, looking to expand their repertoire beyond the typical meat and veggie plate.

A novice often believes that keto is the same as Atkins or eating a carnivore diet consisting of a mostly fatty meat meal plan. The recipes in this book successfully show that there is far more variety available.

Nearly everything can be prepared in a keto friendly manner and these wonderfully illustrated recipes prove that point nicely.

The fact that the recipes are geared towards making meals for one is a novel idea and will definitely benefit those that are pursuing keto on their own.

My only complaint is that many of the recipes include processed foods which is counterintuitive to keto and I would expect the author to know better.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I enjoyed reading this book. Lots of interesting ideas. Great for one person! Unfortunately. I live in the Marshall Islands with 2 grocery stores and no salad bars and often no fresh produce, so this will be a challenge. I am growing some of my own veggies now to eat healthier. But still I think I can use a lot of the recipes. Great explanations. 4 stars

This cookbook is very useful for those who want to do keto, but only cook for themselves. I am on a ketogenic diet, but am the only one in our household that follows it. I frequently have to scale down recipes to make meals for myself. This cookbook has recipes that are only for one or two people, so it takes out the extra step.
This cookbook includes all types of recipes like soups, salads, sides, hot entrees, drinks, and desserts. I definitely recommend this for anyone following keto that needs recipes for one or two.

The Keto for One Cookbook; 100 Delicious Make-Ahead, Make-Fast Meals for One (or Two) that Make Low-Carb Simple and Easy by Dana Carpender is a great cookbook for people who are cooking for themselves. It's hard to find cookbooks that make it possible to cook a single meal. It's even harder when you are following a specific diet plan. This book allows you to break out of making a meal meant for 4 to 6 people, and eating it over and over again throughout the week.

The Keto for One Cookbook Recipes
There are a lot of great recipes in this cookbook. One of my favorites is; Chicken-Feta Sausage with Cucumber Salad. It's an easy to make recipe and this is one recipe that I wouldn't mind eating again and again. Sticking with main meals for now, here are some other recipes that you will want to try; Wasabi Crab Salad Lettuce Wraps, Lime Salmon with Lime-Chipotle Crema, and Solo Joe. You will want to make the Steak and Blue Cheese Salad (you can stop at a salad bar for the ingredients if you have left over steak that you are looking for make a meal with). For breakfast you can enjoy a ton of options, my favorite being the Chorizo, Cheese and Avocado Omelet. Other options include; Harissa Poached Eggs, Busy Day Scramble, and Hot Chia Cereal. Her recipe for Coleslaw for One is such a relief, I love coleslaw but I can't eat a whole head of cabbage myself. This recipe is the perfect amount for a side, or even to put on the top of a favorite protein. For a sweet treat there is Fudgy Chocolate Almost Pudding Cake in a Mug.

The Ingredients
There are a lot of ingredients that she spends time explaining in this cookbook. Once you decide to to invest in the ingredient, you will have options throughout the cookbook. I will say that the one thing that I found a bit frustrating in the cookbook was the shopping suggestions. She is very detailed on information about where she buys her ingredients. She does note that many options are available on Amazon, so I am going that route for some of the staple ingredients specific to Keto. However, she gives lots of examples for ingredients in health stores, or even suggests Krogers because it's a biggest grocery chain. Well, sorry, but there aren't any Krogers in my part of the United States so I started glossing over the paragraphs that went into great detail on ingredients. But, have hope! My favorite recipe for Chicken-Feta Sausage with Cucumber Salad was an example of where to buy ingredients, and I'm happy to say that I'm able to get the sausage right at my local grocery store. So if the description in the cookbook makes it sound like you could only get it in her suggested retailers, don't let that discourage you.

A good cookbook if you are eating with the Keto diet plan. Knowing that you can downsize your cooking to fit even the smallest of households is wonderful.

Loved the simplicity of these recipes and the ideas on using ingredients in such small amounts when cooking for yourself. Nothing too complicated either as well all know the last thing you want when cooking for yourself is something with multiple steps, lots of prep or crazy rare ingredients.

Nice book on Keto. Includes a basic introduction to the keto diet. The recipes look easy, but tasty (I didn't try any myself) and were accompanied by some very nice photography.

Let’s start with what I liked about this book:

• the photos are beautiful and well styled. I really loved the images and found them very inspiring
• I like the down to earth tone of the author
• the recipes that I tried were easy to follow
• there are a few very good tips & tricks in there

Now what I didn’t like:

• a lot of recipe call for specific ingredients that are only (or mostly) available in the us only. Living in Europe, most of them were impossible to get hold off and no replacement was suggested
• a lot of recipes called for processed foods
• I think that the recipes lacked diversity in ingredients
• although there are 100 recipes, I felt that some were very similar if not almost identical
