What is it with the good and amazing books, that they seems to be over so quickly?
I would like to read forever and enjoy the story longer, but NO 🤨, blink and I'm done 🤦🏻‍♀️
I'm a slow reader! I don't read books in one day and one go! 🤬 Or I didn't, until recently 😭
I loved this book soooo much ❤ It's so exciting, beautiful and unpredictable, you just have to know what's coming next. I mean like your life depends on it and your family don't have to eat 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 I love all Katy Evans books, but this one is different.
This story takes place in Atlanta (or begins there) on a TV reality show. From the beginning you're transported into a world of Penelope and Luke, two complete different worlds and types of characters that collide together. If two people can be the complete opposite with nothing in common, that they are. What brought them together is the desperate need of money. They have nothing in common and she hates his behavior and manners from the first glance 😂
She is the brain and he the muscle. She is a doctor and he is a bartender. She doesn't understand his funny and light personality and he can't bring her to be not so uptight.
As I said, two complete different worlds clash together. You would think that's a disaster that can't be solved, but, as the saying goes, opposites attract 😍
This book is a beautiful and action packed adventure, that is so amazing written, that you want it to last forever.
I recommend this book to all dreamers and epic HEA lovers.

What an entertaining read this was! This was a one sitting read, which hasn’t happened in awhile for me. Nell and Luke go to a reality show audition for a new show called the “Million Dollar Marriage.” These two are complete opposites like polar opposites. He’s rough around the edges, and just had a hard life. She is innocent, hasn’t really dated, or really done anything crazy in her life. They have a rough first meet at the audition and she leaves really not liking him at all. Several months later, they find out they were both one of the chosen ones, and as fate would have it, they are paired up together on the reality show, and taken on some crazy adventures. I thought the idea was so creative and different and I LOVED every second of this book! If you like reality TV, you will love this one!

HOLY CROWS FEET!
Million Dollar Marriage was off the chains AMAZING...
ADDICTING...
and EVERYTHING I NEVER KNEW I WANTED!!!

Million Dollar Marriage is the second book in Katy Evans’ Million Dollar Series. This companion novel is told from Luke and Nell’s point of view.

All Nell wanted to do was get out of her cookie cutter comfort zone and prove to her ex boyfriend that she wasn’t the frigid girl he saw her as...and the million dollars will come in handy paying off her school loans. All she has to do, is be accepted to participate in the Million Dollar Marriage reality show… There’s only one problem. Penelope Carpenter is not at all an adventurous person. What the hell, you only live once…. RIght?!

Luke’s greatest ambition in life is to live it to the fullest in a way that his grandfather and grandmother can be proud of. In the past few years his grandfather has been gone, he’s managed to single handedly find himself in a pit of debt and on the verge of losing the bar his grandfather put his everything into. When his best friend Jimmy brings up Million Dollar Marriage, Luke doesn’t see any other option but to audition and hopefully win it all.

But Luke and Nell are going to soon find out, there are more important things on the table other than money.

My Thoughts:

Ah! I can’t even begin to tell you all how much I freaking loved Luke and Nell’s story! And speaking with all honesty, I went into this book completely blind and ended up getting blindsided with complete addiction.

I was a tad bit worried on how I would feel about MDM. I didn’t really care too much for Million Dollar Devil and not liking the first book in a series can really put a damper on the rest of the series, but I put this car in drive and pushed forward. I’m so freaking thrilled I requested a copy of MDM because if I hadn't, I would have seriously missed out on all the Nell and Luke awesomeness!

I loved the concept of a reality show and watching a love come alive behind the scenes. It was fun to watch two complete opposites struggle with growing pains. The endless banter between Nell and Luke kept me on my toes during some moments and laughing hysterically during other moments. I legit love these two!

Of course, this wouldn’t be a Katy Evans novel without a little bit of angst. I’m not going to divulge any info on these angsty moments due to spoilers. Let’s just say, she definitely had me thinking these two wouldn’t be able to reconcile and settle their shit.

Overall, I’m so glad I took the chance and picked up Million Dollar Marriage. Now i’m going to settle in and binge watch the amazing race and all other reality shows. I highly recommend this one to those who are looking for something a little different with an adventurous vibe!

Enjoy and Happy Reading!

BOOK BLURB

From New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans comes a hot romance about two strangers and their race to fall in love.

If someone had bet Nell a million dollars that she would be saying “I do” to a complete stranger on national television, she’d have called them crazy, but with her crushing student loan payments sending her deep into the red, she’s out of options. This should be nothing more than a business transaction—until she sets eyes on her groom, and everything changes.

The game is on the instant Luke spots Penelope “Nell” Carpenter. He’s out for the money, yes, but getting a little dirty with Nell doesn’t sound too bad either. Everyone knows he’s not the marrying kind, so it’s a good thing it’s just for show. God knows he’s the worst guy his pretty wife should pick for real.

They have nothing in common, but if they want the grand prize, they’ll have to beat out eight other couples. Proving that total opposites attract should be easy enough…as long as they don’t fall in love in the process.

My Thoughts

Penelope Carpenter is a very smart young woman, a very unassuming and insecure in herself person as well.

Luke Cross is as handsome, charismatic and self-assured as Penelope/Nell is not.

On paper Nell and Luke do not make sense but once they find common ground there is an audible click as the two manage to make a connection to each other. A connection that goes beyond common sense or even the need for money that motivated them to enter the contest in the first place.

For both falling in love with the other was never part of the plan, funny how when push comes to shove plans change!

I blasted through this in one day for the simple fact that it was such an easy flowing read from one chapter to the next, until it stalled out for me in the final few chapters execution. At the point of about 98 and a 1/2% had to take a break and rethink why I was so upset over what I knew was happening had to be done to make the story more dramatic.

I do not exactly like the use of unnecessary drama to bring a story to its conclusion but just like in my favorite movies it worked for Luke and Nell in the end.

Million dollar marriage is second in the series and I feel you don’t need Jimmy and Lizzie’s story but when you see them now you kinda know what they are about. Luke and Penelope both have massive debt, they both have signed up for a reality show to get out of debt. They are two very different people but their journey is gonna need them to bring their differences together to succeed.

It was a good read and I enjoyed it a lot.

Oh my gosh, I love Katy's books and I have to say these 2 were so much fun getting to know and they are my top couple from her. If you looking for a book with lots of fun then give this ago.

We met Luke in the previous book. I knew he will be an interesting character but now I think I love him more than Jimmy. Luke is a former screwup trying to make his grandfather happy by running his bar and taking care of his grandmother. Luke is that sexy but sweet man that everyone loves.

Nell has always been told the only thing she was good for was her brain. She has only one friend and even her parents didn't want her around. She never felt comfortable in the outside world so she stayed in school. Now the student loan are piling up. Her friend gives her a solution to her problem. She never thought the man whom she considered dirty will be the one to change her world.

This book even a reality show that is like amazing race meets survivor. Truly a book that keeps you happy, smiling and laughing while reading it. I do love Katy Evans she never disappoints me. Thanks to Netgalley for giving me this one in exchange for an honest review.

I thank #netgalley & the publisher #montlakeromance for providing me with an ARC of this book - 'Million Dollar Marriage'' by the author @authorkatyevans due to be released on July 23th 2019.
.
👄 Meet Dr. Penelope Carpenter "Nell" , a nerdy - brainy gal who needs money to pay her huge student loans off. She is socially awkward and prefers reading books over watching television or attending parties.
.
🔥Luke Cross is an ex - junkie, high - school dropout who runs his grandfather's bar. He needs money to pay off the mortgage to the banks. He is an extrovert, who has his way with wine and women.
.
Both of them have absolutely nothing in common except the need for money. An audition for a reality TV show 'Million Dollar Marriage' takes place in their town of Atlanta where both of them are selected and paired with each other and instantly married off exchanging wedding vows and plastic rings. For next 2 weeks, the duo find themselves competing against 8 other paired contestants through a series of contests where their integrity as a couple is constantly under camera surveillance.. Will Nell marry a complete stranger over the national television? Will Luke Cross choose love or money? Read up to know more..📚❤
🔥 I thoroughly enjoyed the strangers to lovers progression of relationship between the two main characters. The story is beautifully designed. Overall a great read & I would rate it a 4.5/5 🌟

I enjoyed this book. I generally like Katy Evans. This one was just a little odd for me. Penelope was the embodiment of a "good girl" or a "smart girl" who doesn't want to experience life outside of her books and degrees. Luke was the embodiment of the "bad boy", an ex-drug addict who has spent time in jail and owns a bar. I was put off by the stereotypes. And then, for Nell to go from that good girl vibe to getting drunk (which that part was understandable) and then dropping f bombs was just really out of character. Overall, I enjoyed the premise and I thought it was well written. Some of it was just confusing to me.

4.5 stars

Million Dollar Marriage is the second book in the Million Dollar series, but it can totally be read as a standalone. I haven't read book 1 myself. This is my first Katy Evans book and I actually loved it so much!!! Million Dollar Marriage was a fast-paced, fun, and adventurous romance that kept me engaged at all times.

Luke Cross and Penelope (Nell) Carpenter both need money. Fast. Nell has a mountain of student loans and Luke needs to pay off mortgages to save his bar. They sign up for a brand new reality show called Million Dollar Marriage, where they are forced to get married in order to continue playing. They both need the money, so they get married and have to work together to survive multiple rounds of challenges together as a couple. You guys...this book is forced proximity at its BEST. I would call this forced proximity porn. The couple has to camp together in the same tent. They need to share the same room and same bed. They even get snowbound!!!!!!! My forced proximity kink was fulfilled.

Luke and Nell two are complete opposites: Luke is a highschool drop out with a history of drug abuse and Nell is a newly minted academic whose idea of fun is reading textbooks. Luke is all brawn and Nell is all brains. Here's where my warning comes: readers are definitely going to have a hard time adjusting to Nell's snobbishness, prudishness, and even bitchiness. I had a hard time myself at first, but I ultimately appreciated and enjoyed her character arc a lot. If you're the type of reader that can't look past a character's flaws and does not have the patience to witness character evolution, then this is not your book. I will say this though: readers tend to be more forgiving towards asshole heroes than they are towards difficult heroines who actually go through an impressive character arc.

Moving onto Luke and Nell as a couple. I loved them together. They don't start off on the right foot, even though there is a simmering attraction between them. But the challenges bring them closer together in a way neither anticipated. Both have low self-esteem: Nell has body image issues, while Luke constantly thinks he's an idiot because he's a highschool drop out. What I loved the most: Luke and Nell build each other up. Luke helps Nell in loosening up and feeling good in her skin. Nell convinces Luke that smartness takes many different forms and that he is smart in his own way.

I honestly don't even know how this happened, but Million Dollar Marriage snuck up on me. I didn't think I was going to love it this much. It checked all the right boxes for me, which is surprising because I'm a hella picky reader. I'm definitely going to read Katy Evans's backlist now!! Luckily, I already own some of her books!

It’s been a while since I’ve read Katy and man oh man have I missed it! Books that are steamy and catchy as hell to read are a Katy Evans staple! Loved this one and the characters! Super interesting storyline that I have NOT read before. Complete unique and original. I enjoyed it big time!

I'm in love!
I have to admit i didn't read the blurb properly. I just saw it was the second book and it had Luke in and that was it but once i read the blurb just before i started i knew i was going to love this book.
I read a book a few years ago that was similar to this as in the whole reality tv thing and i absolutely loved it!
Luke and Penny was absolutely great! They say opposites attract and they certainly do! You wouldn't expect these two people to be thrown together but when they do they try and make the best out of a hard situation!
I'm so so happy i read this book and i hope everyone else picks this book up too!

❤❤

This is a hard one for me to review- as I really liked the story- and I really liked one of the main characters Luke- but Penelope- I really despised her character.

Million dollar marriage is a reality show and both Luke and Penelope both find themselves in desperate need for cash so both apply to be on the show.

The premise of the story is an interesting one- I really enjoyed reading the challenges that were set.

Penelope hates Luke on sight- because basically she is a judgemental bitch- and that continues throughout the story.

The author does relax her up towards the end and attempts to make her more relatable- but the damage is already done- shes already created an extremely unlikable character and a few revelations didn't make me feel any better about her.

It's a good job part of the book was in Luke's POV otherwise I would have ditched this book right at the beginning.

The story was good- but the one half of the main characters were bad!

What a fabulously wild ride it's been. The story was truly one I enjoyed  and loved very much. It's been original, unique even, from the very beginning and I devoured it like a starving person. I laughed a lot because let me tell you some of those things that left Penelope's mouth were just to burst out laughing.

Two people who couldn't be more opposite fell in love during filming a reality show. It simply just should have been a journey to pay their debts while taking part on insane tasks the production put them on and win the main price of one million dollar.

It wasn't something they've ever expected to happen but the path full of hurdles glued them together to stick through bad and good until.....
I don't want to spoil anything for you ;)

Lets just find out for yourself. I loved every second of this brilliant book!

4 Star Review Million Dollar Marriage (Million Dollar #2) by Katy Evans

I was intrigued by the blurb for this book. Desperate to alleviate their crippling debts Penelope (Nell) Carpenter and Luke Cross
sign up for reality tv show Million Dollar Marriage. All they have to do is say “I Do” to a complete stranger, what could go wrong?

Complete opposites, they have nothing in common but if they want to win the money then they have to beat the other couples.

Nell and Luke were certainly on an unusual journey of self discovery almost like the participants on The Amazing Race.

There was some fun banter and chemistry between Nell and Luke; these two should not have worked and yet they do.

I had trouble connecting to the characters, particularly Nell who I found to be at times judgemental and condescending.

Million Dollar Marriage was well written, but is not my favourite from Katy Evans.

ARC received for an honest review

Married At First Sight meets The Amazing Race.

You do not need to have read the first book, Million Dollar Devil, to read Million Dollar Marriage - some characters do overlap, but the stories are stand along.

I enjoyed this story so much more than I did the first book. Yes, it was pretty predictable, however Luke made the story for me. Nell was - well, I gotta say I was not the biggest fan of Nell. For someone so smart, OMG she was such a dumba$$ and I wanted to scream at her to wake up to herself!

I am surprised Luke didn't just leave her at one of their "pitstops" - I mean, the money couldn't have been worth all of her annoyingness.

I did feel for her a little at the end of the story though, which surprised me.

I am not a fan of so called "reality TV" and this still has not endeared it to me at all - I know it is fiction, but we know all this stuff they do behind the scenes is all scripted and manipulated.

This was a fun romp through America with some laugh out loud moments, along with some sad and frustrating moments.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I found it to be very entertaining. From the moment I picked it up I fell in love with Luke and Nell. They are both really strapped for cash so they take part in a reality television show. I have to say I was not really sure at first if I was going to like the story line but it grew on me. This book had me laughing out loud in no time. The characters were all really well developed and I just loved the confessionals. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this series. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! This book was exactly what I needed right now!
I fell totally in love with Luke and Penelope.
Personally I’m not a big fan of reality TV and never watch it, but reading this book I totally fell in love with it! It’s just different reading about it than watching.
The whole storyline about how Luke and Penelope met and went on the show “Million Dollar Marriage”, it’s just so freaking amazing! It’s funny, hot, sexy and even sometimes frustrating, but you’ll love it. Everything that Luke and Penelope go through in this book is just so much fun to read. The tension between those two was just over the top. And like I said - I loved the reality TV part. It's definitely someting different and new for me to read something like this, but I loved it so much more because of that.
This will definitely not be my last book by Katy Evans!
