LOVED THIS BOOK!

I'm not super into reality TV, aside from my addiction to Married at First Sight. But, this book had me me enthralled every step of the way.
My, oh my, how opposites attract.
Luke and Penny were perfect in their own way. Even though they seemed opposite I think they were actually a lot alike. There were times I didn't like Penny and I cringed each time Luke said "ain't" but I quickly got over it.
With each task of the game, I liked them more and more and I was rooting from them since the beginning.
The ending of the book is a bit of a nail biter, at least it was for me! I will definitly suffer a book hangover from this one, because I WANT MORE "Lenny"! For now I'll just have to settle on rereading it, I guess.
This is def. a ONE-CLICK worthy book!
Also, for reference, I haven't read book one in the series "Million Dollar Devil" but I fully intend on investing in it the second after I post this review.
Amazing work , Katy! Remy is still my #1, but Luke is giving him a run for his money, that's for sure!

As a reality show watcher of Amazing Race and Survivor I enjoyed the strangers to partners under duress premise. Penelope and Luke are total opposites and that's what makes the story. They both need cash and that is a powerful motivator. I appreciated the way that Luke valued Penny/Nell and stuck with her though thick and thin. As a popular good looking guy he had several chances to "ditch" her and hook up with other contestants but he choose to be loyal to her. Penny was a bit too repressed but when you learn her back story you realize why. Fun romance with humor and some touching moments.

This was an advanced copy courtesy of netgalley - thank you

I had not read any of Katy Evans work before but would happily read more

I didn't realise this was part of a series when I requested - no matter, I read it as a standalone and it does work

Quiick, easy read - entertaining

I did like this and enjoyed it - good holiday read

Luke and Nell are both strapped for cash so they take part in a reality tv gameshow where they compete against other couples to win a big cash prize.

She's an academic, perpetual student, an introvert who's shy with self esteem issues, drifting through life racking up student loans. He's a social animal, extrovert, rough around the edges and a reformed addict.

I had a hard time with this; I didn't feel any tension or chemistry between them either at the start when they hated one another or later when they didn't. They didn't feel authentic to me, they were too conveniently different, I wasn't buying it.

The reality gameshow plot was imaginative and original and kept me reading, but the side characters they were competing against didn't feel very real either. It all just felt kind of fake.

Sorry, I'm afraid this was a miss for me, but others enjoyed it so don't let me put you off. Complete story, can be read as a standalone.

Game On!

Million Dollar Marriage in the second book in the Million Dollar series and can be read as a standalone. With that being said, I would urge you to read the first book in the series, Million Dollar Devil, as well, because to be honest, you won’t want to miss a minute of this series. It just keeps getting better and better.

Penelope is a scholar who is scared to enter the real world. As result, she has wracked up five hundred thousand dollars in school loans.

Very shortly she will be graduating and will be thrust out onto the world with a heavy debt she does not know how to repay.

Luke has a troubled past he is glad he put behind him. He fears however, that it’s not as far as he thinks. His bar is in a hefty amount of debt and foreclosure is just around the corner.

What could possibly bring these two together? A reality show that promises a cool mil to the winner.

Both Penelope and Luke sign up with dreams of winning and paying off their debt. But, it may just end up leaving them both broken-hearted instead.

From beginning to end this story flowed. I was so engaged with the plot and the competitions Luke and Penelope had to endure.

There was no excessive drama. These two are as different as night from day which causes an opposites attract attraction. And it works.

Luke is sexy, competitive, kind, caring and understanding. This comes out in so many ways as the book unfolds. Falling in love with him is seamless and so very easy.

Penelope although super smart and intellectual lacks confidence in all the remaining aspects of her life. I loved her growth throughout the book. I found myself rooting for her quite vocally.

You can’t help but feel the excitement and to cheer This couple on. Katy Evans has created a thrilling and exciting read that makes you feel like you are part of the game and the action.

I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I tried to like this book but I just couldn't get into it. I stopped reading it after a couple of chapters. The storyline wasn't good and the characters were annoying.

Thank you for the opportunity to review this. I tried to cancel my request after reading book one. Unfortunately, I didn't like book one at all and won't be continuing on with the series, so I will not be reading this one.

I absolutely FLOVE Luke and Nell's story. I'm a big Bachelor fan so this story screamed at me. It was fun, steamy and I just loved it. Thanks Netgalley for the Arc

I really liked the concept of The Bachelor meets Amazing Race but I just did not feel the chemistry between Luke and Nell. I also found the characters to be kind of annoying. I give it three stars because it was pretty funny and the concept was good! Other reviewers seem to really like the characters so I would give it a chance if you enjoy this genre.

This was one of the best romantic comedies I have read in a while. The characters had great flaws that added so many layers to them. That it made them relatable.
You have Nell (Penny) Carpenter a professional college student with more degrees and Ph.D.’s than most could think of wanting. She comes from a wealthy family that had their own ideas of what Nell should do with her life. Also, what and who she should surround herself, within her life. That was to be Yale, a law degree like her father, and an ex-that is working for her father (whores around like him too.) This did not interest her at all.
Books are her thing. She is self-absorbed in what interest her that the world doesn’t exist. To the point where she never made friends until arriving at Emory and was forced to room with Courtney. Now still her only friend. Oh, yes and now, Joe, Courtney’s boyfriend.
Here’s the thing since she wouldn’t go to Yale. Her daddy said pay your own way to Emory. Professional won out over daddy and the system. Well, until she over-stayed her welcome at the college and they make you graduate with you three Ph.D.’s and you get a letter saying Uncle Sam wants a boatload of money.
While sulking on the couch she hears a commercial about the race while it scares her, she talks to Courtney into letting her go with her and Joe to try out. Man, she is so overwhelmed with the number of people also there to try out. While filling out a bubble questionnaire a thug or better yet a Yeti speaks to her. She tries to ignore this Yeti with the sexy green-eyes, but he keeps on staring.
Little does she know that Luke Cross a kid from the streets that his grandfather rescues when he finds out that his own parents kick him out. Luke inherits the aged bar that was his granddad’s and pays for the guest home for his gran. But it needs many repairs and he had no idea his granddad took out some serious loans and now they are coming due very soon.
He needs to win too. In order to keep the bar to have a steady income to keep his gran where she’s at. So, when they both make it and are paired together it’s a bumpy ride. A little secret Luke thinks Penny, as he calls her for her proper name is Penelope, is the most beautiful woman he has ever met. Something she’s never seen or heard from anyone else in her life.
The bantering between the two characters as well as them with their friends makes this book a joy to read. Luke is such a kind-hearted man who knows what it’s like to hit bottom and be invisible. He makes a point to make everyone fill like they have been seen most of all Penny.
I give this: 5++++ starts. Provided by netgalley.com.

I would rate this one about the same as Million Dollar Devil. I guess I wanted a little more from the hero. He's so rough around the edges that I felt like he was below the heroine intellectually. Now he is a good person, just up to his wazo in debt. Her's is because she is a professional student afraid to actually get out of school and start living her life, He because of his bar and his desire to save it.

I just didn't feel the connection I wanted so badly to feel. The story line was cute-kinda like a Dating Game and Amazing Race mash up. But I'm not really a fan of either of those reality (more like fantasy!) shows and that may have helped to sour me on the story line also.

Million Dollar Marriage, is the perfect book for me since I'm such a reality T.V. junkie. Luke lives up to his Prince Charming title. I totally fell for him.

This is sort of a Bachelor meets the Amazing Race. Luke and Nell both need money fast. Luke is trying to keep his bar open and Nell needs to pay off her student loans. On a whim they decide to try out for Million Dollar Marriage. They are picked for their opposites-might-attract personalities. And boy were they opposites. She's uptight and educated. He's very rough around the edges and doesn't know where Cape Cod is. They are forced to marry then go on Amazing Race style adventures where they have to complete tasks in different locations around the world.

I really enjoyed the Amazing Race set up. This was fun and interesting. Pacing was solid.
Unfortunately, I did not feel any chemistry between the main characters. They were a bit too much like caricatures of the parts they were playing.

4.9 Stars

We already met Luke as James's best buddy in the first book. He runs his late grandpa's bar in Atlanta. And he desperately needs money to pay for his grandma's care facility and to pay off the bar's debt.

Nell is almost done with her final degree. She has many of them - she's almost a doctor now. Not a medical one though. Not really a doctor anyone will give her much money for. She's not sure what she wants to do with all her degrees. The only thing she knows is that she needs half a million dollars to pay off her student loans.

Enter MILLION DOLLAR MARRIAGE.
A new and very mysterious reality tv show. The winner will get a million dollars.

THAT WAS ADORABLE!

I just loved it.

I wasn't expecting something so fun and sparky and adventurous and sexy and travel-y.

It's a bit like The Bachelor/ette meets The Amazing Race.

We travel from one amazing place to the next to find clues and master tasks et cetera.

I loved it. I loved seeing all the places and I loved seeing Penny and Luke go from fighting constantly to falling for each other. Extremely adorable! I finished it in one day!

Really great romance!

I wouldn't mind watching this on tv one day!

I had no clue what to expect with this book. I went in completely blind, but, having read, loved and devoured book 1, Million Dollar Devil, I was certain I was in for a great read, and yes, I wasn’t off the mark. Million Dollar Marriage delivered everything, and more, the writing, the characters, the story, perfect, I was addicted from the first chapter. Each chapter, all of which started with a confessional from the gameshow day delivered by either Nell or Luke, was written in dual POV, and went behind the scenes with the most unexpected couple of a new game show “Million Dollar Marriage”. I had no clue what to expect, and neither did any of the contestants. All of them were out to win the grand prize of $1,000,000, of course there were a few plot twists, and it was not as straight forward as any of them thought it was going to be. Luke was so sweet and kind (as well as a complete sex bomb), Nell was quiet, unsociable, with zero confidence and she’s totally unaware of how beautiful she really is. The stud and the bookworm, the only thing they had in common, they were both in debt up to their eyeballs, and were willing to do anything to win, or were they? A full five star read for me that had everything I didn’t know I wanted in a book. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Absolutely fantastic, engrossing and so hard to put down, Million Dollar Marriage is the best reality-show-based romance I’ve read, and one of the best books I’ve read this year. The story follows Nell, a woman who can’t seem to stop attending college for fear that she’ll have to start paying her student loans and finally enter the real world, where her studious habits won’t be appreciated as much as they are in an academic setting. She is reserved, loves classical music and reading books in French. When she realizes that she’s going to have to start paying off her mountain of student loans, Nell auditions to compete in a new reality show, Million Dollar Marriage, where the top prize is $500,000 and the rules of the game are a mystery. It’s on the show that Nell meets Luke, whom she considers to be a “dirty thug,” because of his dark good looks, tattoos and bad boy attitude. Luke needs cash to save his bar, so he agrees to compete on the show, knowing he’ll likely have to marry someone in the process (it is in the name of the game, after all). As Nell and Luke begin competing on this Married at First Sight/Bachelor/Amazing Race mashup of a show, they realize that while they might be total opposites, that doesn’t mean that their personalities don’t complement each other perfectly.

It’s an extremely well-written, engrossing read. I loved how immersive it felt - the vast majority of the book is Nell and Luke stuck together at all times, heavy on the dialogue with fantastic banter and chemistry. I’ve never read a book that felt like a shining example of what.a reality show contestant must go through, but this exemplifies that perfectly - with all of the ups and downs that go along with the process. It’s a slow burn romance, executed so well - the buildup of the relationship made the payoff that much sweeter. Don’t let the slow burn fool you, this is still a sexy read, and Luke is a loveable, swoonworthy guy who might be a little rough around the edges, but he is a fantastic catch. Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I couldn’t wait to start reading this book and I am so glad that it lived up to - and exceeded - my expectations.

Luke sometimes isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, if you get my meaning, "I let out a low laugh. “You didn’t look so disgusted last night when you were sneaking looks at my thingy.” Her jaw drops..." Penny doesn't appreciate her man's clothing choices, "...she picks up the panties with a finger. “This is, like, dental floss. You really think I wear underwear like this?” I liked this book, I loved Luke.

This book was a nice, easy quick read. I loved the tie in with reality tv shows. It was well written, descriptive and it flowed nicely. Seemed a little rushed in the ending but would read more of this authors work.
