This novel follows the lives - real and those portrayed online - of three women who all blog about motherhood, but from vastly different angles. The three women are all nominated for the ultimate blogging prize and drama ensues.
I really like the premise, but was a bit. concerned that it might fall into stereotypical territory.
It is an easy read and doesn't fall too much into expected narrative, however the characters are all very familiar. This of course is going to be expected when the whole story is based around the mummy blogger category - there are quite obvious real-life characters who anyone familiar with the genre can recognise in possibly all three characters - but one in particular seemed to me to be a very close Co-opting of an actual Mummy 'influencer' who is popular in certain circles now.
Having said that, it is important for me to note that I'm not 100% sure is this book a re-release or is it only being released on this side of the world in the last month as this novel has been around a while and, crucially, around ever before the particular blogger I referred to above was 'big', so Ms. Wainright must be a very perceptive writer to have created this character so closely to her real-life counterpart who came later!
There is plenty enough in the novel which steers clear of the obvious cliche to make me happy that I read it, and the ending is not what I would have expected either, which is always a bonus.

Didn't love it, didn't hate it.
The book follows the lives of 3 totally different mummy bloggers who's lives are intertwined. You get a insight to what their blogs are all about and how the mums live their lives. They all get nominated for a blogger award and then we see how far they will go to win.
It was a good insight to the world we are living in with social media and shows that things aren't always as rosy as people would like you to think. I just didn't find any of the character that likeable which left me feeling not to bothered about the story. It was a nice easy read just maybe not my cup of tea.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.

The humor in this book is great. As a mom, I can obviously relate to the characters in this book. Many other moms will be able to as well!

This was an enjoyable, quick read that was perfect for carrying around and reading while waiting. It had a lot more to the story than I expected before I began reading and I enjoyed the story of three women/mummy bloggers. I enjoyed the Australian setting and local slang, To me a mummy is dead and wrapped in steps of cloth, so even these mums seem exotic. I wold have liked just a tad more, maybe an epilogue at the end, but was satisfied just the same.

I was so entertained by this book! Seriously it's not just a very modern topic, but also the way the characters are connected makes it a joyful and interesting story.

Elle is a glam lifestyle blogger married to Adrian who is the ex-husband of Abi. Abi is a organic lifestyle blogger married to Grace. Grace's sister, Liesel, is a working mummy blogger. All 3 are up for a blogger award with a hefty cash prize. How do they come out ahead and react to each other?

What makes this book so enjoyable are the way the characters are written are so true to so many people I have seen online. There was a lot of truth to the consequences of having someone in the spotlight, both good and bad, that were brought to light, but in a completely fun way.

This had been more than a chic lit story; with humour but real truths Holly Wainwright had written a delightful read; the dark side of bloggers!
This is the story of Abi, Elle and Leisel; about their real lives compared to their blogger ones; the real side of themselves to the fantasy one they shared with the followers. Everything will get out of control until all of them are selected for the biggest award; their rivalries will get out of control, making them do the unthinkable to win… So the question would be, what would you be able to do to win fame?
I know that the blogger world is all about perspective and what you share to the world; but what you see is not always the real side of the people behind the blog. I don’t think lying is what all the influencers do in their blogs; but let’s face it, drinking champagne all the time is neither! There are real people blogging with their ups and downs, but prefer to share their ups instead of their downs; and to say the truth who doesn’t? I know the blogger world has been questioned a lot lately and this book doesn’t help much to have a good view of the bloggers; but don’t forget that this is a fiction book; and bloggers are persons with the right to do wrong too!
I think that’s the point of “The Mummy Bloggers”, to show the pressure the influencers have; to be perfect and never loose or deceit any of their followers. Not a live I would recommend to anyone.
If you are looking for a refreshing story with a few surprises, this one is for you. Enjoy!

I'm not familiar with the world of Mummy Blogging but the description for this book looked interesting so I was eager to find out more.

The book revolves around three very different women who blog about their lives as parents. At first, it seems that they have little in common but as the book progresses it becomes clear that there are connections in their private lives.

They are all nominated for an award with a cash prize and OMG....the gloves are off!

It's a really interesting look into the background of social media. Not all the characters are likeable or relatable (I hope not!) but each one is rounded, witty and memorable. It doesn't matter which method of parenting you prefer, there is something for everyone. Holly Wainwright adds a softer side to the characters too, which gives a refreshing contrast to the bitching and backstabbing.

It took me a while to get into the book but once I was acquainted with the mummy bloggers I found the book thoroughly entertaining. I certainly won't ever see the 'perfect' parents on Instagram and YouTube in the same light again!

Overall a thought-provoking, entertaining and witty read, perfect for holidays.

GoodReads:
I really liked the set-up of this book - three "mummy bloggers" chosen as finalists for the Blog-ahhhs awards who are all actually complexly related to each other. "The Sylish Mum" who goes for an aspirational look with her husband and two young boys. She's the new wife, once mistress, of the "Green Diva's" ex-husband. The Green Diva lives on a farm with her female partner (in Australia there was no same-sex marriage at the time the book is set). Her partner's sister (so her sister-in-law essentially) is the "Working Mumma" whose blog is about being a working mom, obviously.

There is a lot of astute observation about influencer culture and how our lives look online versus in real life. There's also quite a bit about female friendships and enemies. While I overall liked it, I thought the resolution at the end didn't do the rest of the book justice. It felt not quite finished to me.

Instagram:
The Mummy Bloggers is an Australian read that imagines if three mommy bloggers all get nominated for the same blogging award - what will happen? Delightfully, of course, they are not strangers but actually know each other. One is the wife of another’s ex-husband. One is the sister-in-law of another. While the book shows empathy to moms of all stripes, it also takes the piss out of blogging in a hilarious way, which I enjoyed. The ending didn’t quite live up to the rest of it.

The perfect light, fluffy beach read for by a pool for those obsessed with social media - I loved it!

This was a fun read! I'm usually pretty into anything that taps into some sort of blogger storyline (lol) so I knew I'd be in for a fun time. The three mummy bloggers are each so different but I love that they're all actually personally linked in the most awkward of ways. It was really interesting to see how each mum reached an 'extreme' due to the pressure of winning that prize and keeping up appearances. Elle was probably the most insane of them all. That being said, I want to know what happens next with all of them! an we get a sequel? I need to know!

This book is amusing and relatable- it is a fun read.
💻
Social Media/Blogging can at times be a story of make believe. You have to take the blogger at face value and think sometimes are their life actually real.
💻
It is based on 3 bloggers Elle Campbell, Abi Black and Leisel Adams and their families. 3 very different kind of bloggers. I found myself going through a variety of emotions with all 3
💻
Their blogs are up for the same award and the winner gets a very large cash prize.
But is their more to them then just the blog.
💻
The way in which the book has been written you cannot help but be engaged with it from the very first page.
💻
The writing is excellent, very fluid and keeps you engaged.
💻
A strong story that will make you think as well as laugh.
💻
Thank you so much to @legendpress for inviting me to read this as part of ‘The Mummy Bloggers’ blog blast. Also thank you @wainwrightholly for writing such a fabulous book.

This book is fantastic. If you are an influencer, a blogger, an Instagrammer, this will ring true with you. This is a perfect, witty summer read!

This was a first for me as I haven’t read any books similar to this before that focus on motherhood specifically even though I am a mother myself. I thought I was going in expecting to relate to a lot of things… However, what a big load of lies some of those mummy bloggers post about. For example, the perfect life, work, healthy eating, outfits, paid help and spotless houses. UMMM. That’s not motherhood that is a lie.

Don’t get me wrong that’s what the book is about how mums represent their ‘perfect’ life online when the reality is much different. Parts had me laughing out loud and parts made me angry. Given time I thought some of those mothers cared more about their blog than their kids. It is a brilliantly written story though and eye opening if you think about it. Differently from what I usually read.

I awarded The Mummy Bloggers four stars and would highly recommend. I want to know your opinions on this one. All mothers are different but shouldn’t we all be supporting each other?

I loved this book! I started off my Summer by reading this book thinking it would be a mindless, easy to read chick lit book- but it was so much more! It looked at so many hot button topics and really went deeper that I could have ever expected.

The characters were all so different yet all so relatable as they get caught up in life and striving for the “perfect life” we see so often through social media.

Thanks to Netgalley and Legend Press for the free copy. The thoughts in this review are completely my own.

As soon as I saw this title, I knew I was going to enjoy reading. Being a mom of two, occasional blogger and fan of all things social media, this book was perfect! It followed 3 very different mommy bloggers who were competing to win a Blog Ahh award, which had a big money prize as well as sponsorships. I loved how all 3 women were connected through family, which of course makes it more juicy and interesting. It was a fun read but also eye opening on our obsession with social media and having the need to share our lives and receive constant feedback. I really enjoyed it!

The story here centres around a prestigious competition for so called "mummy bloggers." Three very different woman who are all linked to each other have been nominated for this award and it is not going to be a fair fight.
I enjoyed this very much. I expected the usual lighthearted posts from the mothers telling amusing anecdotes of the latest thing their little darlings did. Instead I got something much darker with the mothers becoming more and more ruthless as the competition heats up. It seems there are no depths they will not sink to.

Review will be uploaded to both Goodreads and Amazon once it has been released.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with the ARC. I thought this was a good read. I don't typically read contemporary novels but every now and then I like to read something light and fluffy. This fit the bill for the mood I was in and was a good read for the time.

I thoroughly enjoyed the premise of this book and thought that the writing was excellent. I liked how the characters were representative of the different people easily found on social media: the overwhelmed mom, the 'appearances are perfect' mom, and the crunchy granola mom. But the author did a good job of illustrating how there is always more to a story, and nobody can actually be categorized that easily. There were quite a few jaw-drop moments, including one near the end that actually had me yelling “NO WAY!” at my Kindle. Thank you to Legend Press (via NetGalley) for the opportunity to read a complimentary digital ARC of this book.

This book follows 3 very different women with 2 things in common....they are all mothers and are all bloggers. The three women are all inter linked but lead very different lifestyles.
Unfortunately this was not a book I enjoyed.. I found it very slow in the beginning, at times I got very lost with the plot and the relationship between the women....sorry but not for me.

Ok, so, if you have ever rolled your eyes at a post on social media (especially one of the #Blessed variety) then you are going to love The Mummy Bloggers. I immediately knew it was a read I was going to really enjoy. It follows three so-called ‘mummy bloggers’ who run successful blogs about parenting. All three are nominated for a blogging award with a large cash prize and as award night draws closer each of them seriously up the ante in a range of sometimes insane, sometimes brave and frequently hilarious ways.

What I liked most about this book is how much it made me laugh and smirk. The writing is so sharp and witty. Wainwright gives each of these women a unique and equally interesting voice. Their parenting and lifestyle choices are all very different which meant that as a reader it was impossible to guess what direction things would go in next. At times the actions these characters take seemed far-fetched but actually I’m not so sure they are! Whilst parts of the plot are extreme, I genuinely believe that there are people out there who would go to truly bizarre lengths for the sake of maintaining their online brand or persona. I think social media can become like an addiction of sorts where real life comes in second place to the attention that comes with making a statement or putting your life online. This is 100% a fun read but there’s a very real issue that it highlights which is the gap between reality and the totally unrealistic and unachievable perception that ‘influencers’ like Elle create. The Mummy Bloggers shows both sides of the blogging coin. It can be a force for good in many ways and there is a huge benefit in people feeling like they are not alone. Conversely, there is the impact it can have on an individual’s mental health and especially their self-esteem which can be hugely damaging.

There are lots of crazy goings-on in The Mummy Bloggers but underneath there is also real warmth. There’s a big focus on the importance of relationships, both familial and romantic, and how family and friends can pull you through a difficult time. I thoroughly enjoyed The Mummy Bloggers. It’s full of quick-witted writing and characters, some of whom are intensely relatable and some who will have you shaking your head in disbelief. Wainwright has written a follow-up that I have already pre-ordered and cannot wait to read. The Mummy Bloggers is daring, extremely amusing and terrifyingly relevant! I highly recommend it – it would make for a great holiday read!
