Charlotte first falls for her brother Matthew’s band mate Tom Farley at the age of 22. Unfortunately, he has a girlfriend and he disappears from her life as quickly as he came. Five years later they meet by chance and a relationship seems likely until a tragic accident tears them apart again. Will it be third time lucky for the pair?

A gentle romantic novel, set in and around Dublin, Ireland. The characters were well fleshed out, and their actions were believable and understandable. There were moments when I was almost shouting at Charlotte to make the right decision, but I was pleased with the way it all panned out.

A good story, well written and with an original storyline.

Rewrite The Stars is a Christmas romancey type read set in Dublin, Ireland.
It’s 2010 and Charlotte meets Tom for the first time, her brothers mate and in a band with him, she falls head over heels for him within minutes but it’s not meant to be as he has a girlfriend already. Fast forward five years and a lot has happened including Tom and her brother falling out and splitting from the band. Do they get together and ride off into the sunset or not?
Charlotte was an ok character, I didn’t bond well with her at the beginning but did warm slightly to her but not a lot. Tom was a character with not a lot of depth so I couldn’t work out who he really was.
This isn’t my normal bag but it was an ok read and I enjoyed the storyline.
I would like to thank Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, HarperImpulse for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

A generally overall decwnt read that is much better as a whole than the sum of it's parts. Emotional.

Such a beautiful, emotional and heartbreaking love story. This filled me with so much raw emotion because of the two loves in Charlotte’s life, her first true love and the love between her brother and herself. The fact she put her own happiness to the back of her mind so that she could make her brother happy and help him recover from his accident was just too much to handle. My heart didn’t know wether to burst over the love she had for her family or to break over the love she lost. Such a beautiful story with so much power and love. I couldn’t put it down and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is definitely worth a read guys. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this gem. I loved it.

This was a gentle story with appealing characters and a storyline which probably mirrors a lot of peoples lives. Did I make the right choice about the person I intend to spend the rest of my life with? I enjoyed the conclusion and was kept involved throughout the book.

A proper love story with a proper ending. Lots of relatable characters, and mostly nice people for a change. Plenty going on to add interest. I enjoyed it.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC

This is the PERFECT Christmas read. A beautiful and well written story of an attraction between two people that never quite finds the right time to blossom.

I adored Charlotte as a character and found her to be relatable and authentic. She seems to wear her heart on her sleeve and puts everyone else's needs before her own and I relate to that so much.

I found Rewrite the Stars to be intensely emotional, it had me literally tearing up in places, it is just so beautifully written.

If you love a tragic love story then this is absolutely the book for you!

This book swept me along. I loved the underlying theme of what would change if you were to make different decisions at certain points in your life. I wasn't sure right up to the end what Charlie was going to do but I was totally involved with her character. Family relationships are shown to be so complex and it is interesting to see how at times, Charlie puts her loyalty to her family before what she really wants. A great read which takes a hard look at what matters in a relationship.

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of the book.

I hadn't read anything by the author before, but I'll certainly be looking for more of her titles. This story of missed opportunities and love left unfinished must resonate with everyone to some extent or another as we all have the one that got away. I got completely wrapped up with Charlotte's story as it moved through the years and the spectre of Tom Farley haunted and occasionally intersected with her. It is beautifully written and perfectly captures how we change as we grow older and view things differently. A thought provoking read with a Christmas flavour.

This was a heartwarming read that I enjoyed in one sitting. The characters were well developed and the plot was one that kept me engaged, as it reminded the reader that everyone comes into relationships with a past and that it can impact the future. I am definitely going to seek out more of this author's books!

The story of Charlie. She falls for Tom the first time she meets him, but he has a girlfriend, plus things are complicated by her brother.

Years later she meets Tom again, and this sets off a chain of events that changes their lives. Will they be together at the end of it?

An emotional read.

Thank you to HarperCollins U.K. for an invitation via NetGalley to read and review in advance Emma Heatherington’s ‘Rewrite the Stars’ in exchange for an honest review.

Dublin, 2010. When 22-year old Charlotte (Charlie) meets Tom Farley, her brother’s new friend and band mate, there is an immediate connection. However, he has a girlfriend and it’s another five years until they meet up again. Then there is another major obstacle to their relationship given the band has broken up after Tom and Matthew had a falling out.

I don’t want to reveal too much but this is very much a tale of star-crossed lovers and the ‘what ifs’ that can haunt our emotional lives.

This was a perfectly fine romance but I found that I just didn’t engage with its narrator, Charlotte. It reminded me of a Christmas themed made-for-tv movie where everyone is beautiful, well dressed and privileged. Certainly diverting for a few hours but ultimately just not my kind of novel.

Clearly I am in the minority in not loving it but I admit that I am not a big reader of romance fiction and so not really its target audience. However, I would recommend it to friends who are into contemporary romance.

Although billed as a Christmas romance please don't delay reading the book, as I know a lot of people do not like to read books out of season so to speak. However as most of it isn't set in the Christmas period you could read it at any time of the year.

I'll admit when I began the book I did not take to Charlotte and for most of the book didn't really have any empathy with her or her perceived plight. Something about the storyline did grab me though and I read this book in one sitting, I was keen to find out how it was all going to turn out in the end.

I began to warm to Charlotte when she got her new friend Sophie and then did feel for her in her life changes and the family members opinions she endures. The star of the story for me was her brother and I would have liked more of the backstory to his life.

All in all a very enjoyable read with some will she won't she tensions and a little bit of a different spin on a romance story.

I don't think it is a spoiler to reveal that one of the songs in the book has actually been recorded and is available on youtube. I did wonder when I read the lyrics whether Emma had written them and if she was also a lyricist. In the acknowledgements at the end of the book all was revealed and I think it's a great and unusual touch to have the song to listen to, which I did as soon as I finished the book, adding another dimension to the read.

I'm giving this book 4 out of 5 stars and my thanks to netgalley and Harpercollins for the ARC to review.

A Romeo and Juliet of a story, with rather far fetched coincidences and unbelievable decisions made by the characters. Just like Shakespeare’s version!
Not much cuppa tea, sorry.

If you are after a Christmas romance with a twist then this is the book for you . Charlotte falls in love at first sight age 21 with Tom ,a band mate of her brother, although it’s not until years later that they actually get together. The twists ,turns and what ifs of Charlottes mostly ,charmed ,life at times make you want to give her a good talking to but overall the characters and story are well fleshed out . I enjoyed the start and end of the book most , a few life lessons in there for us all. , I admit that I found it difficult to empathise with the main character for most of the story but will happily read more by this author .

My first book by this author. A rollercoaster of a Christmas themed story, set in Dublin the book begins several years previous and I found this early bit hard going and wondered if I was going to get into it, but I’m glad I stuck with it, as the story returned to present day, I was engrossed in the life and tribulations of a Charlie Taylor and the would she - wouldn’t she string that ran through this novel. A heartwarming read and definitely a new author to add to the list for me.

Although I knew where this book was heading, which normally is a DNF for me, I read this book in one sitting.

It's good, it has a strong message. Still, I wanted to shake the protagonist for her stubbornness more often than not.

Really enjoyed this book and spent nearly the whole time wondering if they would or wouldn't.... Lots of twists with this love story and a sense of family obligation

Rewrite the Stars by Emma Heatherington

Charlotte’s life is about to be turned upside down.

Oh my word, Rewrite the Stars is a lovely book. It had the same effect on me as slipping into clean bedding, taking off uncomfortable shoes and putting up my feet, or taking the first sip of tea when I’ve been desperate for a cup all day. I found it comforting, uplifting and affecting. I know there will be those who would never dream of picking up Rewrite the Stars, believing it to be too ‘girly’ (or whatever derogatory adjective they might like to apply) for their reading tastes, but they will be so foolish. They will have denied themselves a gorgeous story, smooth and skilled writing and plotting, with characters and themes that feel true and genuine.

I admit that I railed against Charlotte’s actions and choices at times, but I understood her completely through Emma Heatherington’s perfect creation of character. Here is a young woman who strives to find her way in life; exactly as we all do. Charlotte’s first person voice is distinct, making her words feel intimate and allowing the reader to access her innermost thoughts and feelings. She is natural and self-critical so that her fears and desires become those of Emma Heatherington’s readers too. The men in Charlie’s life are all distinctly drawn, making for a cast that feels so vivid and real. Just like Charlotte, I had no idea which of them I had the most genuine feelings for so that I felt her indecision and concerns with her.

As is so often the case for me, what I enjoyed most about Rewrite the Stars, however, was the sensitive exploration of themes. Emma Heatherington seems to understand at an almost primeval level how we need love and affirmation to be able to create our own individual identities. She also conveys flawlessly the human emotions of guilt, love and regret and she convinces the reader that what we may have been in the past may have helped shape who we are today but that it doesn’t need to dominate who we are in the future. I found this message very powerful indeed.

Rewrite the Stars is a very moving, beautifully written and, for me, very uplifting read. I thought it was utterly lovely and cannot recommend it highly enough.
