An emotional and heartwarming/heart wrenching read, your heart goes on a rollercoaster ride with Charlie, on the edge always hoping she will get her man. So well written, Emma draws you in from the first page and doesn’t let you go. An addictive and thoroughly entertaining book, no spoilers, but you never know what you’ll get from this, pick this up you won’t regret it.

Rewrite the Stars by Emma Heatherington was an enjoyable read and I soon became engrossed in the story.

This is a lovely Christmas romance set in Dublin that follows the challenging relationship of Charlotte 'Charlie' Taylor, and Tom Farley, an Irish American. Charlotte meets the love of her life at twenty-one-years-old and they fall for each other in a big way but it was never really meant to be. Charlie and Tom meet again in 2015 and Charlie is now working as a schoolteacher, her dreams of a career in music a distant memory. Tom is working in real estate. The feelings between the two of them are still really strong so they make plans for their future, but their plans are thwarted. Moving on to 2018, Charlie is in a safe and secure relationship with Jack Malone and Jack loves Charlie, very much. Tom is now a famous musician, but is there any real possibility of a future for Charlie and Tom?

I found the story to be well written, believable and thought provoking - who has not wondered how events may have played out if something in their life had worked out differently?

This is the first book I've read by Emma Heatherington and I look forward to reading more if they are as well written as this one.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from HarperCollins UK via NetGalley at my own request. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

Emma Heatherington’s new release had me engrossed to the end.

Will she or wont she? This question stuck me throughout the book, will Charlie follow Tom to England? Will she chose family over love? Will she stick with the reliable or go for broke and follow fame and fortune?

The internal conflict of Charlie, a mixture of guilt and love is perfectly captured by the author, characterisation is a speciality of hers. You can get a sense of the efforts Emma goes to when she had a song ‘You’ by Gareth Dunlop commissioned to go along with the book.

I highly recommend reading the 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 star rated #RewriteTheStars, it’s at times heartbreaking (yes there were tears on the morning commute again) but it is a story about hope and that you can rewrite your dreams, something you think you want, may not be what you need.

As always, my thanks to #Netgalley and #OneMoreChapter for granting me an advanced copy of #RewriteTheStars to review.

I must admit this isn’t my preferred genre but I really enjoyed it. I was willing Charlotte to make the right decision! Charlotte had a real talent for composing but had always felt inferior to her older brother’s achievements in the music world. When she met a member of his band, Tom Farley, they had an instant attraction and he appreciated her musical abilities. However, something happened between the members of the band and Tom’s name wasn’t mentioned. There are a number of interesting characters, both friends and family, not all likeable. I couldn’t take to the brother, he appeared to be quite selfish. This is a story of Charlotte wondering what would have happened if she had taken certain options and what part fate played. This will keep your interest until the end, wondering which way Charlotte would choose to go. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Charlotte Taylor was twenty two when she met and fell in love with Irish American Tom Farley, her brother Matthew’s best friend and member of their up-and-coming band. Charlotte was also a lover of music, writing and playing her own songs. After hearing her sing and play Tom was convinced Charlie would have no trouble getting signed to a record company and become a huge star.

It has always been a given in the family that Matthew was the creative one, the one heading for stardom, so Charlie was stunned at Tom’s reaction. She had already mapped out her future as a teacher, her dreams of music pushed to one side, but now they resurfaced and included Tom. Thwarted by Matthew’s attempts to keep them apart, Charlie again shelved her music and followed her original plan to be a teacher.

An unexpected encounter several years later when Charlie was out with friends sets in motion a tragedy that will have far reaching consequences for both Matthew and Charlie, not least the nagging question that haunts Charlie through the years, despite her happy marriage to a wonderful man. What if?

I’m sure most people, at some stage, have wondered…what if I had done this instead of that…or made a different decision…taken a different path. There are always forks in the road ahead. Is the direction we take the one we’re meant to take or is it all down to chance?

Rewrite The Stars is a well written, realistic and easy to relate to, look at these questions. The story examines the importance of family, the time spent thinking about what you don’t have instead of concentrating on what and who is around you, while exploring how feelings of guilt can and do affect decisions taken.

I love the passion for music that runs through the narrative and the fact a song featured in one of the scenes has been especially written and recorded for the book by singer/songwriter Gareth Dunlop. ‘You’ can be found on iTunes.

A very enjoyable read set in a lovely location.

Rewrite The Stars by Emma Heatherington is one of those books that you can be fully immersed in. It is beautifully written and all the characters are believable. The book opens with Charlotte Taylor meeting and falling in love with Tom Farley at the age of twenty-two for the first time when Tom comes home with Matthew, Charlotte's brother. To quote Shakespeare " The course of true love never did run smooth". We follow Charlotte's and Tom's story and how the decisions they make shape their lives. The manner in which each character was introduced and their relevance to the story is seamless. The measure of a book is what you take from it, "Being wrong, feeling confused, battling through the fog of life can only make us grow and shape us to become better people" is what I am taking from this book. The places mentioned in the book jumped off the pages to give the feeling of being there. Well done Emma Heatherington. I will definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves reading fiction.

Great writing and reminds you of all those 'what if' moments that have happened in your life and a reminder that the grass is not always greener. We choose the lives we live and this book reminds us that this is usually for a reason and time can sometimes fade what it is.

A fantastic story covering Charlottes life !
At 22 she met and fell for Tom Farley a member of the band her brother was involved with. At various times of her life the two meet up and circumstances mean their life’s go off in completely different directions again!
This was very much a sliding doors scenario but beautifully executed
This was a wonderful love story, an emotional rollercoaster!
Characterisation was good and all the characters were believable.
This was a well written story and I would strongly recommend it
Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins, and Emma Heatherington for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review

I have read and loved previous books by this author, so I was pleased to receive an early preview copy of this book from Netgalley and the Publisher.
I found this book hard to get into, as I did not immediately warm to the main characters of Charlie and Tom. They fell in love at first sight, but were kept apart by Charlie's older brother Matthew, who disapproved of them dating. A few chance meetings occurred in the future, but it was never the right time or place for a relationship.
I persevered with the book, but I did not enjoy it as much as the Authors previous books. It is worth reading however. I love Christmas books, and although I didn't enjoy it as much as I hope, I think that other readers will probably enjoy reading the book.

This is a Christmas romance set in Dublin in Ireland by Emma Heatherington that follows the challenging relationship of Charlotte 'Charlie' Taylor, and Tom Farley, an Irish American who grew in Ohio. They first meet in 2010, and fall for each other hard, he is super impressed by her songwriting abilities in the country music genre and is convinced she could make it big in the music business, something that had never crossed her mind. Despite the palpably obvious attraction between them, nothing happens between them. Charlie's over protective older brother, Matthew, had recruited Tom as a drummer in his band, Deja Vu, intervened, preventing any possibility of the two of them getting together, citing Tom's unsuitability as a long term prospect. Then just as the band look to be on the cusp of making it after being signed by a small music recording label, Tom leaves the band and Matthew's life falls apart as he returns to live with his parents with severe mental health issues and his plans for a career as a architect in tatters.

Matthew has never talked about what happened to break up the band, nor how Tom came to leave, and in a remarkable piece of serendipity, Charlie and Tom meet in 2015. Charlie is working as a schoolteacher, her dreams of a career in music packed away as a life that was just not going to happen. Tom is working in real estate, yet to make any meaningful impact in rock music. The feelings between the two of them are still so strong that they make plans for their own future, plans that are derailed as Matthew has an accident requiring long term care and rehabilitation. A guilt ridden Charlie puts her relationship with Tom on ice as he leaves for London. In 2018, Charlie is in a safe and secure relationship with Jack Malone, Matthew's consultant neurologist. Jack loves Charlie, Tom is now famous, is there any possibility of a future for Charlie and Tom?

Heatherington's novel has all the ingredients for a great story, a story that many have loved. However, for me it never quite gelled and I just could not invest in either of the main characters to any great degree. It lacked that certain alchemy that lifts a narrative for me to love it. It may well be possible that my previous books which had proven to be exceptional reads spoilt this novel for me. I am sure many people are familiar with that feeling of let down experienced at novels read after stellar books. I should point out many reviewers disagree with my opinions, so I recommend reading other reviews before making up your mind whether to read this. Many thanks to HarperCollins for an ARC.

I loved reading about Charlotte and Tom, and fully expected to read about their happily ever after, following some genre defining high jinks. Instead there was a captivating love story, as Charlotte questions whether enough is enough, and whether she could, or should, pursue the one that got away. An easy, light hearted read, you find yourself picking a team - I totally think Charlotte picked the right one, although was rooting for the other!!

Charlie and Tom meet and feel an instant, almost magnetic connection to each other. Life, however gets in the way and they go their separate ways. Serendipity happens, and they meet again later on - but it just wasn't meant to be, again events intervene and things don't go the way they hoped and wished for. One day will fate go their way? Are they destined to be together or not?
This was a nice read, a good book to read after reading some heavy going thrillers.
