Despite its slow start I absolutely loved this book. Charlotte wasted many years dreaming about her first love but this book proves that our memory plays tricks on us and it is always best to look forward than go back in life. Who wouldn’t want to be married to Jack but Charlotte didn’t realise what she had until she almost lost him. Her dedication to her troubled brother and family showed her true personality. Despite thinking Charlotte would go for third time lucky she made the right choice in the end.

Charlotte and Tom, who played in her brother's band, had an undeniable attraction. They parted as her brother could not bear to see them together and Charlotte felt he needed her more because of his mental health problems . Years later, when Charlotte is happily engaged and then married, Tom returns to her life. Charlotte has to decide whether her life would be happier with tom.Well written and hard to put down to discover the ending.

We all wonder sometimes what might have been if only... Charlie fell in love with Tom at first sight when she was 22 and now, aged 30 and married to someone else, she can't help feeling she may have made the wrong choice. Tom is a famous rock star now but in her head he is still that first lost love. A real will she/ won't she story right to the end. A little over-written but it held my attention and I enjoyed it.

I was lucky enough to get approved to read this book on Netgalley and all thoughts are my own.

Do you ever read a book that you love so much your review is immediate? You need no time to mull it over, you just can't wait to get it out into the world so people pick it up too? Well, this is that book for me.

I put it down minutes ago - I've already added a 5 star rating to Goodreads and I'm smashing my keys on my laptop to let you all know!

I really really loved Charlotte - she's insanely relatable with her bad decisions and her sensitivity. She harbours her guilt and always puts everyone else before herself. She's terrified about letting everyone down - she still does it occasionally but she's so selfless it's refreshing.

I also loved the character developments for every single character in this book - they added enough to the story without saturating it with nonsense - they actually ENHANCED it! How clever is that? All characters were lovable in their own way, but don't get me wrong, they all frustrate you at some point. I particularly enjoyed seeing Jacks' halo slip - this added another element to his perfect character and it made me love him even more!

So what did I hate? Nothing, hence the 5 star review. I really enjoyed 'One Day in December' By Josie Silver, so when I read that fans of that book would enjoy this one I already had plenty of expectations in my head... this book absolutely smashed through all those expectations and I love it even more than ODID.

Ok so there's a LOT of love from me for this book. The entire book is a tragic love story - peppered with a lot of very raw powerful REAL love stories. If you want to read something that get's your heart ripped into a million wonderful pieces and tears in your eyes, then pick this up IMMEDIATELY.

I realise this is very vague, but as it's a tragic love story / emotion fuelled read, then I urge you to pick it up and see for yourself exactly what I mean. So no Spoilers from me!

I really enjoyed the start of this book but felt it lost its way in the middle and didn’t really move forward. To be honest the story just sort of got stuck in Charlotte’s unnecessary feelings of guilt in my opinion. Thanks for allowing me to read a preview copy.

If you’re after a heartwarming Christmas book the I can highly recommend Rewrite the Stars by Emma Heatherington. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author and based on this book I’m keen to read more.

From the moment Charlotte meets her brothers friend Tom, there’s a connection between them. Tom is in a relationship so Charlotte busy let him go, but it seems their paths are destined to cross on more than one occasion. Years down the line, Charlotte has moved on with her life but can she ever really forget Tom? Is he the one that got away? Is she willing to give up everything for one last chance with Tom?

This book is beautifully written and will draw you in with each turn of the page.

Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Collins UK and the author for the chance to review.

A definite wow book and the title says it all. I love following realistic characters who I believe in and like so thanks. Had it not been for general life I could have read it in one sitting although bedtime did get later!! Emma leads the reader through the relationship of Charlotte or Charlie with 2 men but I’ll not tell you the outcome as I hate that in reading reviews. All I can say is it’s a must read. Thanks to Emma Heatheringron and NetGallery.

I absolutely loved this book! Taking the reader from romance, missed opportunities and following your dreams to a satisfying conclusion this is a book with lots of heart.

The story starts in Dublin, December 2010, when Charlotte was 22 years and 9 months old (very specific!) when she first met and fell in love with Tom Farley, a friend and member of a fledgling band her brother was assembling. The minute they met they clicked, much to the annoyance of her brother, but nothing ever came of it because her brother wouldn't let them get near one another.

Fast forward to Dublin, December 2015, when now teacher Charlotte is out celebrating the end of the school term with her sister and a friend, when she unexpectedly bumps into Tom and ends up going back home with him. The spark is definitely still there and they spend a lovely day together. But Tom and her brother, Matthew, haven't spoken for years after the band split up, but Charlotte still doesn't know what happened. But since it happened her brother has slipped into depression, lives back home with their parents, and everyone treats him with kid gloves now. But Charlotte decides that her and Tom deserve a chance of giving their relationship a go and so confronts her brother about it, with dire consequences... and her and Tom don't make it - again.

After this both Charlotte and Tom move on with their separate lives, ending up in music success for Tom and marriage for Charlotte to Jack.

But then an event happens that throws them back together in 2018 and all the 'what ifs' come to the surface for Charlotte. I felt so sorry for Jack, Charlotte's husband, as she had kept all her old guilt and feelings about Tom from him and he was such a really lovely guy and felt so betrayed.

I must admit the way Charlotte completely blocked Tom from her life because of her brother's reaction really annoyed me at the time, but I suppose it was the whole premise of the book, would they/wouldn't they eventually get together, and I must admit after I got over that little hiccup the book just got better and better. A definite fork in the road story, take one road and your life turns out one way, take the other road and there's a completely different life ahead. But which one is the better, and would the path not taken (and always regretted in Charlotte's case) have been the right one?

There was a lovely quote near the end - 'imagine if all the time you spent wondering "what if" had been spent on looking at what you already have, instead of what you haven't got', which I think we could all do with sometimes. A really lovely book set in Ireland, with some lovely characters (Jack was my favourite) and a great ending, what's not to like? A great read and highly recommended, I couldn't put it down in the second half!

Charlotte was attracted to Tom from the moment she met him through her brother Matthew however realising he had a girlfriend nothing became of it. After a time Tom and Matthew were no longer friends and Charlotte lost touch with him, a chance meeting a few years later reminded her of her feelings for him and they planned to be together however fate had other ideas. Charlotte forced herself to move on but never forgot Tom and lives with the constant feeling that perhaps he is the one she was fated to be with.

Charlotte is a solid character, she has a mix of good and bad qualities and like many of us so has regrets in life and a whole lot of ‘what ifs’ which make her very relatable. I didn’t felt I knew enough about Tom to form much of an opinion myself however the attraction between the two seemed real and his belief in Charlotte seemed genuine. I found Matthews attitude towards Tom confusing, understandably awkward but too extreme in my opinion and not reason enough for them to stop working together although Charlotte’s loyalty to Matthew was understandable. Overall this is a good book but just doesn’t fully click in my mind, it is nonetheless very thought provoking

I recieved this book via Netgalley and give it my honest review.
A truly emotional 'what if?' Story full of twists and turns and teenage heartache that follows in to adulthood. A great read. Thank you Emma Heatherington for a well written book.

Oh how I wanted to love this novel but I just couldn't connect with the writing in the way I would have liked. This is largely down to a protagonist who infuriated me throughout.
We meet Charlie as an unconfident teenager who makes an instant connection with Tom, a friend of her brother's, who sings in his band. From that point onwards Charlie is smitten, despite having only spent a few hours in his company. The connection is mutual but, when their paths cross again, a series of events begins to unfold that will leave Charile with some important choices to make.
It might just be my relationship with my siblings clouding my judgement of this book but the importance of Charlie's brother's opinion in her story is something quite alien to me, obviously I'd never intentionally hurt one of my siblings but the way Charlie prioritises her sibling's happiness over her own really marred the story for me and, I felt that if she'd acted more realistically in this respect, then a lot of the 'will they won't they' would have been moot. The final decision making is, I expect, meant to be a surprise, but I've read a few novels which have gone down that route in recent years and the cheapening of one of Charlie's relationships foreshadows immensely what her choice will be.
This is an easy to read, enjoyable book and it's clear from other reviews that other readers connected with the main characters much more than I did, which will influence their enjoyment of it. I'd read another book by Emma Heatherington, she is a talented author, this story just wasn't for me on this occaison.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC.

This is the third book I’ve read by Emma Heatherington and she has done it again. With an original , believable well written story which touched at my heartstrings.

I think everyone at some point wonders what if ? If our lives had taken a different direction would we also be completely different people?

Charlie Taylor is a young teacher who loves music and songwriting. She falls for Tom a drummer in her brothers band. Her protective brother goes to great lengths to keep them apart.

Time and life throw them together again but in the flick of an eye they are separated again by tragedy.

Determined to let their love stay in the past Charlie marries Jack a perfect caring
husband.

But can Charlie truly forget Tom? Will she try to contact him again? Or will she let the past stay in the past? Does your first love hold a special place in your heart ? Does fate win out in the end? Or can we decide our own destiny?

The importance of family and friends is evident in the story and the duty to care for them sometimes forsaking your own dreams.

My teenage years were revisited while I read the storyline remembering my crush on my best friends brother!!

Thank you so much to the publishers and netgalley for my chance to read this fantastic book.

The synopsis of this story really intrigued me. I couldn’t wait to get started.

I liked the book, but that’s as far as I’d go. The basis of the story was great, but I just couldn’t take to the author’s style of writing. I don’t think it helps that I’d just finished a Sophie Kinsella book before starting this one. I love Kinsella’s writing style, the pace, the level of detail, etc, this book felt disjointed and I struggled to warm to it as much as I’d hoped.

The story is about Charlie and Tom and how their attraction weathered with time. This is a romance story. However, the most important elements were skipped, completely bypassed and only referred to in the form of reflection. For example, Charlie and Tom were in a bar together. Next chapter reveals that they’d slept together. Another example, prior to this, was the first kiss. These are really basic elements to romance stories, so by missing them out I felt like some of the chemistry was missing from the book.

As I’ve stated, the actual storyline is good. I liked the last minute ‘who will she choose’ part. It was kind of predictable, but that’s not a bad thing...and it was the right choice. The epilogue was a bit too happy ever after, but again, this genre tends to favour happy endings all round.

So, to summarise, a great story, but I didn’t like the way it was told. Chemistry felt lacking and chunks of story missed out.

Thank you for the advanced copy of this book, I’m grateful for the chance to read it.
