I really enjoyed this book! A great story line that kept me hooked and excellent main characters. I would highly recommend this book.

A lovely easy read set in rural Devon which I really enjoyed. A story of mid-life crisis, family, relationships, romance, choices and new beginnings. I really enjoyed the character particularly the quirky polish cleaner. The setting was interesting - in a family vineyard. The story was well paced.
The ending felt a little abrupt and I hope there will be a sequel to tie up the loose ends.

A perfect cosy read for a Sunday afternoon on the sofa or holiday read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review

An interesting twist on the midlife crisis looking at the impact on those left behind. Throw in some stroppy teenagers and crazy parents with a madcap Polish cleaner who seems to know about wine and you have all the ingredients for a warm and engaging tale of wine in the West Country.

3.75-4* a sweet tale

This is a lovely book set in the Wine making world. Chrissie goes back to help her family wine making business, when her husband decides he is taking a year out to travel around Africa on a bike. She is left to deal with the fallout. I enjoyed the background to wine making and felt that I learnt something, not only about the struggles that the wine makers face.
Chrissie is having to consider upgrading her families business to make it successful alongside dealing with 'city girl' daughters having to deal with rural life and new schools.
A great book about the struggles of mid life crisis and family life.

A lovely story and very interesting tale about a vineyard in the West Country. Very readable and has you involved from start to finish. Definitely recommended.

A lovely story with a good set of characters set against the not so well known background of English winemaking. Chrissie's husband runs off overseas for a year to follow his dream and she is left looking after their two teenagers, so goes home to the Family farm which makes terrible wine. Along the way her Polish cleaner and ex husband and quirky mother round out Chrissie working out her relationships and where she really wants to be in life. Could have done with one more chapter to find out how the homecoming from the husband went though.....

I was disappointed in this, started off well but nothing actually happened to hold my interest. A slow read

Absolutely loved this book! Characters are very personable, you can empathise with how they are feeling and you want to keep reading it...

Felt that this book had so much potential at the beginning but actually very little happened and I was left feeling disappointed at the end.

The right read for this hot summer day: it's refreshing, entertaining and well written.
I hope this is the start of a new series because there were quite a number of loose ends.
The book is well written, the cast of characters is likable and interesting, the plot is engrossing.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

A perfect escape for a holiday read. Light and easy tale of Chrissie returning to her childhood home after her husband decides to disappear for a year to cycle around Africa. A wealth of characters and an undercurrent of humour especially in the form of Des, Chrissie's stepfather. Some background romance, smattering of drama the plot flows along. My only gripe is that it didn't seem to finish neatly with a lot of loose ends left but perhaps this is the first of a series in which case I want to know what happens next.

This is a lovely holiday book to read on a sunlounger by the pool. The characters are likeable and you want everyone to get their happy ending, whatever that means to them.
Fun book.

I enjoyed this book but not the ending. I would have expected all the loose ends to be tied up but unfortunately this was not the case in the way I was hoping. That aside it’s lovely to read about a year in the life of a winery and several generation family life and the scrapes they encounter. Engaging and funny throughout with plenty of warmth and a sense of coziness about the setting.

Thank you Netgalley

I was attracted to this book by the location of the story, and the cover, so I was pleased to read an ARC from Netgalley.
The story at the Winery begins in the Autumn, which is nice and refreshing,as many books are either set in Summer time or Christmas time.
Chrissie finds herself returning back home to her parents Devon Winery to help out. Her husband is 'finding' himself in Africa, while she takes care of their daughters and the Winery. She is joined by her former cleaner, who unexpectedly helps to make the business profitable once more.
I liked the female characters, but I did not like a lot of the male characters, apart from Des and Declan. Chrissie seemed to be too accepting of the way that she was treated by the male characters.
The story flowed well, and I enjoyed the story, however, I found that the book ended abruptly, with no real resolution or ending. I found this frustrating, and would like to know what happened. Despite this, I enjoyed reading this book.

Ive read this story before but from another author.

Cassies husband decides he wants to go cycling across Africa for a year and leaves her and their 2 daughters behind. Cassie decides she is moving them to her parents Winery in Devon to keep them busy and distracted and they have to find ways of making the Winery profitable.

A blast from the past turns up next door which sets the cat amongst the pigeons but there is no resolution to the story, there were too many unanswered questions.

This is rather a frustrating read! There was good evocation of place and interesting detail on care of a vineyard and the wine making process, but I found the characterisation very uneven. Some characters were well developed and credible, but others were less well defined. Also I felt the ending was rushed and left too many unanswered questions.

This is a book that I really enjoyed reading.
Chrissie and her two daughters make a move from London to the West Country, while her rather odd husband takes a year off to cycle through Africa. Moving back into the family farm with her mother and stepfather, she takes the reins of the family Winery in her hands and works for change.
So many characters are involved, including her ex husband who I wanted to like but felt he was a bit of a wet, her Polish friend/housekeeper Melania, the two great daughters, her ex-boss, and one had to keep checking exactly who was who.
The development of the Winery and the relationships between her mother and stepfather, the two girls, and her husband Rob, were all cleverly written.
I wanted to know more about Rob and his travels..
Thank you for letting me have this book as a review copy.

Really enjoyed this one, I've read a couple of novels by Lizzie Lovell before and to be honest the more I read the better they get! The setting sounded idyllic and I love the stunning cover with all the pretty ombre colours. It's a perfect easy read.

I needed a bit of "reading escapism" and this story was perfect. It had two unusual twists to set the scene which definitely added to the charm of the book. It is a light, but well written story and I would definitely read another by this author.
