As a lover of a good thriller I had high hopes for The Night Before. I love the flash blacks/forwards to the two protagonists and felt like there was substance to the story.
My criticism of this book is only that Wendy Walker had a good idea of a hook (who is in more danger?) but I wasn't gripped. This does not discount from the overall book however, as I did think it was a good read and I know many who I would recommend this book to.
For me, it was a little predictable (but I am a reader who likes to think ahead so this is a personal opinion) but overall a good read.
It's not a book I would pick up and read again but the structure of the story I loved. The overall storyline reminded me a little of Anthony Mosawi's "Trust no One" in the feeling of who to be afraid for and I do like that.
I would give this book 3.5 stars out of 5 (I will round it up to 4 stars in this case) due me not having the urge to pick up again means that it's just under 4 stars but I did like the structure and storyline.

After this you may not ever want to go on a date or at least you'll wonder about the people closest to you.

IT's a novel where you spend 99% of the time in the main characters head. This often doesn't work for me but it did keep my interest early on. I mean who was this woman? Is the guy she's met a psycho or is she the problem? She seemed very messed up which ever way you looked at things and this kept me reading. Then sister Rose got involved as Laura goes missing

It just seemed a bit unbelievable to me. I found myself shouting NO! and RUN! and why? on more than one occasion..

I did enjoy being in Branston even though it's fictional though and finding out about these people's pasts.

I love the way Wendy Walker writes and the cleverly obfuscated way she plots, The Night Before was an excellent page turner, where the usual lines are slightly blurred.

Laura is missing after leaving for a date, Rosie her sister is desperate to find her…But who is Rosie most worried for? Her sister or the man her sister went to meet…

It was refreshingly honest in its narrative about human nature and how dangerous we can be.. as men or women..that plus an intelligent mystery element made The Night Before a really engaging read.

I read it fast and whilst not surprised by the “bad guy” reveal, did not feel this took away from the enjoyment of the story, this had many levels all of them compelling.

Recommended.
