Though this book is a young adult book, it is heavy. I feel like I should add a note that it has mature content. There is suspense, there is love and tenderness and fear. You can have all the money in the world and still live a life of fear. I would say that I chose this book out because of the title and the book cover. It is strong and makes a statement. Sometimes I feel as if the art of a cover does not relate to the story but Veneer is mentioned many times and it makes sense. The picture...well, made me think of slavery. I found the lives of the main characters very real. No one lives a PERFECT life. :( This is very worth the read if you can move through to the end.

This was an advanced copy from netgalley - thank you

I did enjoy this book eventually but did find it hard to get into - the characters initially didn't gel with me and when this happens I tend to give up on the book but knowing I needed to review here made me stick with it more. I'm glad I did though. Sometimes, we need challenge and this was one for me

I would say that if you persevere, it is a good read

A note for the publishers, though. This would have been better I think as a Kindle format book - I felt I struggled even before starting t read - it meant I had to read on my laptop rather than being to access more easily with my Kindle. Took me longer to read as a result

Hello, I was unable to download this book to my kindle so it was not read. It would be great if it was available in mobi format.

An interesting premise but I struggled to get into this, couldn’t connect with the characters and the story couldn’t really keep me interested. Not really for me.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
