Compulsive reading, this is an addictive suspenseful psychological thriller like no other.

The plot is unpredictable with lots of twists and turns along with solid engaging characters.
There is also a sense of dread as the story deals with the deep and dark corners of the human psych.

I very much enjoyed this and would recommend it to anyone!

I found this a little confusing when I first started reading, after some time, the storylines for the different characters came together and things made sense!
The author captures how everyday people can become obsessed with the social media associated with a famous person, the obsession shown was quite intense. The obsessed characters clearly used this following to help forget about their own sorry lives and to avoid confronting how to address their own issues.
I enjoyed this read and its moral message, the author writes honestly and brutally at times but has delivered an excellent story which most people can relate to, especially if they follow celebrities online.

Through her website and social media accounts, mummy vlogger Violet Young almost reached a celebrity status among her followers. She entertains and inspires numerous of women by posting regular updates on her seemingly perfect family. That is untill all of het accounts suddenly go blank. Without warning and explanation for her absence, some of Violet's most devoted followers decide to take matters into their own hands in finding out what happened... What comes next is a very clever story about two women each dealing with issues like envy, loss and how to cope as a single mother. I truly loved this character driven story and the way it's told from two perspectives, Lilly and Yvonne. Charlotte Duckworth paints a very vivid picture of our present day obsession following other people's life online. She came up with an amazing plot and is a great story teller. I highly recommend this book if you like gripping, twisty and addictive reads!
PS: Charlotte I can't wait for book 3 to come out!

I really enjoyed Charlotte's first book The Rival and had been hearing about Unfollow Me for a little while before I had the opportunity to request it. The concept captured my imagination immediately. As a lover of Instagram, I could totally relate to becoming engrossed in the life of someone that you are never likely to meet. Charlotte has a fantastic ability to pinpoint a fear and draw you in. Her characters are extremely believable and the premise of both of her books have meant that you can put yourself in the protagonist's position easily.

Unfollow Me was a great read, I was absorbed within a few pages and I really couldn't put the book down. I would recommend this book if your heading off on a journey as it will make it pass by in a flash.

Nothing is as it seems, neither Violet's life published in detail on her famous vlog, nor the lives of her followers. Lies and deceit wherever you look.

What starts like a crime thriller evolves in surprising revelations of past lies that have consequences and the separate stories are coming together in the end. Everybody is seeking love, but love needs honestly, and that's hard to find, but guilt is following whatever you do.

Unfollow Me is a thriller with a difference, that had me galloping through to the end but falling for some of the red herrings that this book has.
Violet is a vlogger and has an abundance of followers but suddenly disappears, shutting down her on line accounts including her popular YouTube account. The book is told from the perspective of Lily and Yvonne, these are two women that follow Violet intensely but for very different reasons.
This was a solid read with a lot of twists and turns along the way that made it hard to put this down. I loved the way the story of the two women seamlessly came together with no gaps and although the characters weren’t really likeable there were parts of their lives that were relatable and I think that was down to the great writing. I’m not going to go into the storyline as I think this is best read with little knowledge to fully enjoy the reveals.

In Unfollow Me you meet Yvonne and Lilly who are obsessed with popular ‘Mummy Vlogger’ Violet, her perfect husband and children. You follow each character as they show that everything is not always how they make it look, whether that be on or off line.

Unfollow Me shows the stalkerish nature of blogging when you have that many followers religiously reading and following you. When one seemingly innocent picture of your child in your front garden can turn into a follower finding your address.

I found this a really good read with turns that I hadn’t foreseen and the ending which gave me shivers.

Having thoroughly enjoyed 'The Rival' I was very pleased to be given an advance copy of Charlotte Duckworth's latest novel. Most of the characters in this title are quite hard to like which makes you wonder if you like the book itself, but it is the clever portrayal of characters who live their lives 'following' or 'trolling' 'influencers' that makes this tale compelling. Charlotte Duckworth very cleverly leads the reader down one path only to suddenly point out her deliberate misdirection when you think you understand what is happening. A very interesting tale making use of the internet, blogging and vlogging that is so common these days. I await the next novel with great interest.

Another riveting read by Charlotte Duckworth, that the Publishers kindly invited me to read. Each character was by turns, interesting, likeable, obsessive and detestable. A very thought provoking tale that will draw you in and leave you ,in my case, wanting more. I would highly recommend this novel.

This is a gripping tale that taps into the modern zeitgeist of social media, blogging, and celebrity influencers. Violet Young is a journalist turned Mummy-vlogger with a huge following throughout various social media platforms.

Then one day all her accounts have all been deleted with no explanation. A group of her followers on the GoMamas forum speculate on what has happened. What indeed and this is revealed slowly through three narrative voices.

The first is Yvonne, a married photographer desperate to become pregnant but with fertility issues. The second is Lily, a single mother who is an obsessed follower of Violet. Finally there is Henry, Violet’s husband. As much as it is about the mystery of ‘where is Violet’, the novel also delves into the lives of its narrators. I won’t say much as this is the kind of novel that is best read avoiding possible spoilers.

‘Unfollow Me’ was a total page-turner as I was completely riveted as Duckworth began slowly peeling back the layers. It was very satisfying tale even if you are someone like myself who doesn’t follow lifestyle vloggers. There is a clear sense of awareness of the dangers of over-investing in this kind of external influence in lifestyle choices. It was thought provoking as well as a cracking good story.

One that I plan on recommending widely and I have also marked her previous novel as a ‘must read’.

An enjoyable book giving you a reality check on social media. I wouldnt call it a thriller exactly but i still enjoyed it. Took me a while to get into it but it was a steady enough read.

Wow! Ms Duckworth has done it again. I thoroughly enjoyed her debut novel, The Rival, and this time we get a techno-thriller (a thriller based heavily around technology/internet/social media), and boy is it beyond addictive. Main character Violet is a successful and revered vlogger and social media influencer who disappears suddenly. Her fans are naturally extremely concerned as all of her profiles on her favourite social media platforms have also been deleted without so much as a word. This is deliciously dark and twisty read which highlights the negatives of being an internet celebrity. This quickly turns into a creepy and rather disturbing tale about jealousy.

Duckworth is one of the best at completely stumping her readers by using lots of twists and turns, and wickedly clever misdirection and red herrings. I ended up backing the wrong horse and so will you. What makes this so exceptional is I was certain I knew what was going on right till the very end when Ms Duckworth effectively shouts GOTCHA! There are many thrillers where you can tell that the author is trying hard to throw you off the scent. Here, what is so special is the subtlety and nuance which means you are only aware of the misdirection retrospectively. Superb job! I now await her next book. Many thanks to Quercus for an ARC.

This book is chilling. There are parts of this book that genuinely made my blood run cold. Fantastically written, shocking relatable, this is going to be a book people are taking about.

I was attracted by the blurb because I found it very interesting. I loved this exciting thriller, its multi layered plot and the well written and intriguing characters.
This is a page turner that keeps you on the edge till the last page as you discover the characters' secrets and the plot unravel using different POV.
I loved the style of writing and I loved how the characters were developed.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.

What happened to Violet Blake?

A successful mummy vlogger with over one millions followers vanishes from social media overnight – her YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram accounts closed without warning. Her fans are desperate to know why, and some will do anything to find out.

The synopsis for this one had me so excited, and I was right to be. Unfollow Me was entertaining and engrossing with some disturbing, characters-crossing-the-line, developments. Even though no one in the book was particularly likeable, or reliable, there were still parts of their lives I could relate to, and empathesise with – none of them were all bad. This was mostly due to Charlotte Duckworth's thoroughness at including so many small day-to-day details – things that have happened to all of us. There's a lot of domestic drama, but all of it was relevant to the mystery of why Violet suddenly disappeared from social media. Some great twists, some I saw coming, most I didn't, upped the ante, and moved the plot along.

Prominent themes were addiction and obsession, but also stalking, sociopathic lying, loss, grief, and unhealthy coping strategies, and that no matter how much you may want to start over and wipe the slate clean, your past actions inadvertently have a way of catching up with you.

Chapters alternated between two regular viewers of Violet's online life – a solo mother, and a married woman with fertility issues desperate for a baby – various threads on a forum titled GoMamas, and emails to Violet from an obsessed fan.

This was my first read by Charlotte Duckworth, but I see she's written a previous novel called, The Rival, which I will certainly be reading. Fans of domestic noir, and those who are intrigued by the psychology and behaviour of celebrity worship syndrome will devour this. The perfect read to cosy up with this winter, or for those going into summer, the ultimate beach read.

Although I am not a mummy, or indeed a mummy blogger, as a regular online user, I can truly understand how easy it could be to get sucked in to the world of the online 'celebrity'.

Violet Young is hugely popular mummy 'influencer', with a million subscribers on YouTube who tune in daily to watch her every move. Violet has the perfect life, a loving husband, three beautiful children and a successful career.

But we all know that online life can be fake, right?

Violet's millions of followers are left puzzled and distraught as she suddenly disappears from the online community, and all her Social Media accounts are deleted, with no warning or explanation.

Speculation is rife about what has happened to Violet. Has she simply had enough of the online world? Or has something more sinister happened to her?

Violet's fans are obsessed with trying to find out the truth, but what they discover may be far more shocking than any of them could have imagined.

I really enjoyed Duckworth’s debut, The Rival, so was really looking forward to Unfollow Me which has an original and intriguing premise. The story is told by two main protagonists: Yvonne is a photographer, in her late thirties married to a man younger than her and the couple are desperately trying for a baby; and 27-Year old single working Mum, Lily, who can barely make ends meet. Both women seek escape from their problems through the life of Violet, a mummy vlogger. But one morning the two women discover that Violet’s Youtube homepage has been deleted, along with all her social media accounts...Is she taking a break or is there something sinister at work...This sets into motion a chain of events as Yvonne and Lily attempt to uncover the mystery behind Violet’s disappearance.
This was a pacy read that I could not put down. Interspersed with Yvonne’s and Lily’s narrative is extracts from a mother’s forum and Henry’s, Violet’s husband, POV heightening tension.
What really worked for me was the characterisation of Yvonne and Lily, I found them both so emotionally engaging and I found their motivations and the reason for why they got so addicted to Violet’s channel quite relatable. Duckworth taps into the zeitgeist of social media and influencers holding up a reflection to the way people avoid dealing with their own traumas and problems by consuming other people’s lives, especially the toxic and damaging sense of entitlement viewers have over these influencers’ lives, the sense of being entitled to stalk and entitled to know what they are up to just become I’ve-invested-time-and-emotion-in-the-content-they’ve-put-out.
Overall this original and gripping story is thought-provoking, well plotted with brilliant characterisation. Highly recommended 5/5

Last year I read The Rival by Charlotte Duckworth and was blown away. It was definitely one of my favourite books of 2018. I was sooo happy to be approved for an advanced copy of her new book Unfollow Me - and I am happy to report that it is fantastic! I was completely drawn into the world of the mummy blogger and the fans and I just wanted to keep reading, having no idea how things were going to pan out. The story was twisty, clever and very well written and I can't recommend it enough.

Unfollow me tells the story of a hugely popular and successful online influencer called Violet Young. She is married to Henry, who is also very successful and they have 3 beautiful children. On the outside they appear to have the perfect life... but can you believe everything that you see online? Seemingly out f the blue Violet disappears from the online world, with all her social media deleted without a trace. Her legions of fans are distraught and become obsessed to find out what really happened. Th story is told from multiple points of view.... as well as Violet and Henry there is also Lily, a single mum who can't get enough of Violet, and there's is also Yvonne, a women who is struggling to conceive. The story unfolds through the alternating chapters and we learn all about these characters and their deep dark secrets, as well as how their lives are connected.
