I will not be giving feedback on this book as I couldn’t really get into it but I think others may enjoy it.

I received with thanks an ARC copy of Heartstruck from Hachette Children’s Group and Netgalley.

This is my review of Heartstruck by Rebecca Sky. This was published on 14th July 2019
This was a wonderful sequel to Arrowheart. As a Classics student I enjoy the reimagining of the gods and what would happen if they had descendants on earth. This was enjoyable and will read more books from the author in the future.
Would recommend if you love a Myth Retelling

Loved the mix between Greek mythology, romantic and humor. Even if it's YA, this book is the perfect read for all ages. I laughed, sighed and really enjoyed the story.

This book was written well. It had an interesting, yet cliche concept. Unfortunately I did not realise that this was the second book in the series and I felt like I was just jumping into a story that was already half-told which made it difficult for me to engage with the character.

Heartstruck again has a perfect blend of Greek mythology with modern teen life however the backdrop is slightly different from the first book. The plot and stakes in Heartstruck have been ramped up from the first book, making me worry about the character I have grown to love, and also question my feelings about them. Saying that nothing has been done for the sake of it and shock value everything happens for a reason. I found the character more relatable and authentic than the first book. The character development in Heartstruck is fantastic, revealing sides of characters I wouldn’t have believed if the writing wasn’t as good as it is.

I love Rachel, our heroine, and how involved she is with her family. We get to see how crucial family is Rachel. Rebecca cleverly uses family moments to reveal both Rachels vulnerability and strength and it’s wonderful to see this familial dynamic evolve from the first book.

The book was fast-paced and funny. I love that Rebecca's work is so easy to read, her style makes the pages the pages pass without effort. Not only did I enjoy the Greek Mythology history and factual spin on YA, I love how incredible but believable the world Rebecca has created.

I'll definitely on the looking out for another book in this series. To end all I have to say is I bloody loved it and What a ride!

I did don’t realise this was a sequel when I requested but it in no way affected my enjoyment of the story. It was a great summer romantic read, a lovely YA offering, very funny and perfect for any age

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

I really enjoyed Arrowheart, and Heartstruck gave me some of the information/moments I had been hoping for in a follow-up, such as scenes with Rachel and her father now that he's no longer under the power of the Hedoness gifts, and further development for Marissa. I read Heartstruck just as quickly as I did Arrowheart, but I'm not sure that it has quite the same atmosphere as the first novel (primarily because of its location, I feel), which I was a little disappointed by, yet it did not severely hamper my enjoyment of the book. It was good to see Rachel continuing to work through how she feels about her powers and what her choices ultimately mean for others, particularly her family. There were a few instances where her focus seems to be a little too much on Ben when there are far more pressing issues to be handled in the moment, but I'm admittedly rarely sold on romantic pairings in YA, so I imagine this is something more particular to my reading than any real flaw in the narrative. Overall, a lovely read on a Classics and mythology theme, and I hope to see more!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I had no idea with was a part of a series though and even though some parts were a little confusing it didn't make the book any less enjoyable. I have now started book one and that is pretty good too!

I didn't know this was a sequel when I started it, as the synopsis doesn't mention it. It made things very confusing as I tried to understand what was happening and who all these characters were. The story was not bad, but I was struggling so much to figure out who everyone was and how they related to each other that all the emotional beats fell flat...it didn't really bother me that Ben may or may not have been betraying Rachel, because I had no investment in their relationship.

If you've read the first one, this is probably a fantastic read. If not, don't start with this one.

Thanks to netgalley and Hachette for allowing me to read it.

I really enjoyed this, it was fun to read, and it was an interesting romance story. I'm definitely not a young adult but I still really enjoyed myself reading it!
