This is the first book I have read by Jackie Kabler and she did not disappoint me. What a whirlwind of a read, the last twenty percent of the book had me racing through the pages.

This is the first book I have read by Jackie Kabler and she did not disappoint me. A fast paced thriller that had me guessing (at least part if it) until twist at the end. Well developed characters and well written. I will have to add Kabler to my authers to follow.

Amazon review to be posted once published.

This really did keep me guessing until the final few chapters! 18 months ago Gemma met Danny and quickly they fell in love & got married, but one Friday Danny doesn't come home from work. Days go by and then Gemma realises a serial killer, targeting men who look just like Danny is on the loose, could he be in more danger than anyone ever expected? On the hunt for Danny, Gemma realises though there might be more she doesn't know about her husband than she thought. Really well paced, the characters developed nicely and a satisfying ending.

Having newly relocated from London to Bristol where Danny has a new job Gemma believes she is happily married to a perfect husband Danny. However, Gemma returns home from a work trip to find her husband missing . All his possessions are still in the house. After a couple of days Gemma contacts the local police to report him missing. When 2 detectives, DCI Helena Dickens and SD Devon Clarke realise that there is an uncanny resemblance between Danny and 2 murder victims they are investigating in Bristol their interest is peaked. As the 2 key detectives look further into the disappearance, they believe they may have a serial killer on their patch. As the story unfolds with various twists and turns their prime suspect is Gemma.

Without giving away any spoilers. Gemma discovers a “different Danny” through her investigations and as much as she tries to convince everybody of her innocence it appears there is no evidence of Danny ever having moved to Bristol.

This is a fast paced thriller and a real page turner. Jacke Kabler is a new author to me and I will most likely read other books of hers.

I would like to thank Netgalley UK, the author and the publisher One More Chapter for allowing me to review this book ahead of its release date for a fair and unbiased review

Many thanks to Harper Impulse and Jackie Kabler for the opportunity to read and review this book. The Couple was my first read from this author but certainly not the last. The story was edgy,intriguing and exciting. All the important ingredients to keep you turning the pages. When Danny fails to come home one night his new wife Gemma becomes understandably worried. When the police start their investigation into Danny's life it leads to more questions than answers
Is Gemma living with a stranger,and if so who the hell is her husband and where is he.

This really was a rollercoaster ride! So many ups and downs, twists and turns. Gemma’s husband goes missing while there is a serial killer loose, murdering men who look just like her husband. This was a great premise for a story and was brilliantly executed; I had no idea what was happening until the end. I literally could not put it down and would recommend this book to anyone.

Thanks to NetGalley, Harper Impulse and Killer Reads for the ARC.

This is a fantastic read! The plot is a mind blowing, very clear, and I even can’t guess the ending, even for a little bit and it was shocking! The terms of “do you really know very well who is your spouse” works pretty well with this book.
I like how the writing style brings the whole character has important role in here, even find some funny moments between DS Devon and DS Mike which makes the story more interesting and real. I really enjoyed this book from the beginning, like the cover (one of the reason why I pick this book), recommend for those who enjoyed pyschological thriller stories.

Sidenote : I’m not familiar with DCI, DS, DC stands for in police term. My suggestion is, please add in parenthesis what is the abbrevition for those as soon as those words came up, so everyone who does not familiar with it will understand the meaning.

Thank you Jackie Kabler for writing this interesting and fantastic book.

~How well do you really know your partner/wife/husband???
Gemma thought she knew Danny.
However, 18 months wasn't really a long time to get to truly know someone. But, when you know, you know, right?
Gemma had suffered from anxiety- due to work related stress.
Danny was everything that made it all better.
Of course he loved her, didn't he?
~~~This book seriously blew my mind!!!
It draws you in immediately with an eerily creepy sentence: 'It was the silence I noticed first.'
It felt ominous. It set the tone and sent chills up my spine that let me know this was gonna be a chilling and disturbingly fun ride!
Jackie Kabler weaves her words of mystery so fluidly that just when you think you know, you still have no idea. I love that most of all about, The Perfect Couple. I'm an avid reader and love a lot of different genres. Psychological Thriller/Mystery is my all time favorite! Mrs. Kabler has managed the transition into this genre as if she were born to write these types of stories.
~In the same vein that links a literary genius like, Stephen King and horror also, links, Jackie Kabler and psychological thrillers!
Thank you @NetGalley and Jackie Kabler for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
3,5 stars ⭐️
It’s a good book, with some interesting twist I didn’t see coming! It was interesting because I didn’t know if Gemma was an unreliable narrator or not, so it always kept me guessing. I think the book could be more fast-paced, not sure how I feel about the detective chapters, it’s interesting but it was always like the book had a break between chapters!
I didn’t see the ending coming and the main detective was boring and unlikable only because she seemed she only wanted to pinpoint the murders on one person instead of doing proper investigation. Gemma also seemed a bit naive at times, but it was an enjoyable read!
Gemma comes home to a freshly cleaned house, but no groceries in the fridge. She is a bit exasperated, but her IT-professional husband, Danny, is a workaholic, so she goes to bed alone and knows that he'll be back home any moment once he finishes his work. But, 2 days later, he is still missing. She feels a bit silly, but she goes to police...just in case. Suddenly, there's a lot of interest in her missing husband. He bears some certain resemblances to some other men recently involved in tragic incidents that are currently cold. But, where is Danny? Why have his recent photos vanished? Why do the neighbors in their new neighborhood say that Gemma lives alone? Gemma feels like she's living in some kind of personal, strange, hell! Where is Danny, and why police so interested in HER?!
I found this a fresh, interesting read that I was able to finish in one day! It read quickly and kept me interested. I did guess at the twists and turns before they happened, but I still enjoyed watching it all play out. It is well worth the read, and Gemma truly is lovable and sympathetic. Would recommend!
Wow, what a fantastic read! I loved this book and it’s got everything to make the perfect thriller.
I was engrossed from page 1 and had to keep reading late into the night to find out what happened. There were plenty of twists and the ending brought everything together.
It’s definitely worthy of 5 stars.
Gemma O'Connor loves her husband, Danny. However, when she returns home from a work night out of town, Danny is nowhere to be found. Eventually, Gemma turns to the police for help. DCI Helena Dickens and DS Devon Clarke are first on the case.
Two recent murders of men similar in looks to Danny - are they possibly connected? Is Danny alive or the victim of a serial killer?
The excitement ramps up when we are brought into various images of thoughts and ideas that are very puzzling. .
An excellent thriller.
Many Thanks to Harper Impulse/Killer Reads and NetGalley for a great read!
As kids, many of us loved to ride the loop de loop roller coasters. They always provided us with an element of excitement every new twist and turn. Well if you are a fan of roller coasters, The Perfect Couple is your new favorite book.
My only complaint was that it was a little drawn out. The format of some of the pages was getting to me so I skipped through a little bit of the book but still fully understood what was going on.
Gemma O'Connors husband Danny has disappeared. His disappearance comes on the cusp of the murders of two men who share striking resemblances to Danny. The police start putting pressure on Gemma as a suspect as certain evidence is found that suggests that Danny may also have fallen victim. Blood is found in their former apartment that appears to be weeks old, and the timeline of moving, Danny's job, etc. Gemma is providing to the police does not match up. Gemma knows she is innocent. Still more and more discrepancies between the evidence and Gemma's story come to light. They start to believe that Danny is in fact another victim of a serial killer on the loose.
Then everything changes. Danny turns up alive.. Gemma of course is ecstatic to see her husband alive and well, and of course be cleared as a suspect in his disappearance and murder, but that joy soon turns to hate and disgust as Danny's story unfolds.
The final twist feels like that big drop at the end of the roller coaster ride after the dark tunnel..you won't see it coming til your stomach drops out from your body!
This books description caught my eye, I thought it was going to be amazing. I was let down. It was very hard to get into the story. It was a bit slow to be honest. I thought it would be a faster read. It just doesn’t grab my attention.
This plot had the makings of an amazing book but I just couldn’t get into it. I struggled to keep turning the page and I think that’s because it wasn’t fast-paced enough.
