Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

As a longtime PJ Tracy fan I was so pleased to see there was a new book and to get back to all the Monkeewrench gang.
Another brilliant, gripping story, I'm so glad the series continued.

I’d missed the folks at the Monkeywrench! This was such an intriguing tale. Lots of different elements to the plot - mysterious BDSM clubs, crypto currency thefts, the protests about disturbing art and the search for war criminals. Any great novel from PJTracy!

Like a fine wine P.J. Tracy just gets better with age - superb.

Having been a long-time fan of P.J. Tracy's novels I keep expecting that inevitable dip in form that many authors experience after writing so many books. Well, "Ice Cold Heart" is certainly not the beginning of that downward slide - so, the run of 5 star novels continues... Indeed, only a maestro of the highest order could turn the discordant notes of the various moving parts of this book - a serial killer, a bitcoin heist and a Yugoslavian war criminal into the novelistic equivalent of a symphony. As always the narrative is impeccably and carefully constructed, with nuances from Tracy that we often taken for granted. The characters leap off the page as if made real by the author's fertile imagination, with the Minnesotan winters so evocatively described it will leave you reaching for another blanket, or another log to toss on that waning fire. I was held in thrall from page one of this novel and I continued to read... and read.... and read, until the thrilling denouement. "Ice Cold Heart" is a phenomenal addition to P.J. Tracy's ever-expanding canon of novels. Miss it at your peril.

Summary:
A violent murder. An ice-cold killer . . .
On a bitterly cold winter night, Kelly Ramage leaves her suburban home, telling her husband she's going to meet a friend.
But she never comes back.
When her body is discovered, murdered in what seems to be a sex game gone horribly wrong, Detectives Gino and Magozzi take the case, expecting to find a flirtatious trail leading straight to the killer.
However, Kelly's sinister lover has done a disturbingly good job of hiding his identity.
This isn't his first victim.
And she won't be the last . . .

I am a long time fan of P J Tracy (ever since Want To Play? was first released in the UK) and I was as impressed with this read as I was with that very first book. Fantastic, tense and surprising, this story delivered on all fronts.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the other books in the series & love the ongoing storyline of the team.
This did not disappoint. A dark tale that had me enthralled from the start, so much so that I finished the book in just two days.
Looking forward to the next adventures of the guys.
4.5 stars

A series I've read for years, and always enjoy returning to. (Question: is it ever NOT winter in Minnesota?)

Interesting thing to learn: ICE is responsible for apprehending war criminals who are hiding out in the USA. This is a good thing, that people of all political persuasions can appreciate. It's a shame ICE doesn't do more of this in real life, as opposed to...whatever they're doing now.

I haven't read the previous books in this series so wasn't au fait with the team. It was an action packed story of a sex game which apparently went wrong.

The Monkee wrench series is always a good read. This is not a book where you will connect everything right away, nor figure out who the culprits are. At times, it felt like there were too many separate stories tying together, but it does wrap up nicely. Great book that will hold your attention.

This is the latest in the crime series featuring detectives Rolseth and Magozzi as well as the IT experts who make up Monkeewrench. This book deals sensitively with the topic of war crimes and the search for the perpetrators of these. Many books have been written about the holocaust but this one brings it right up to date dealing with the massacres in the former Yugoslavia. I wasn't aware that so many of those who orchestrated and carried out these horrendous acts escaped justice by fleeing to the US and parts of western Europe so this book really opened my eyes and made me think about the horrors that went on there. At the same time however there is the start of a fledgling romance for one of the regular characters which lightens the book a little. All in all it is a great read that I'd highly recommend.

I received an ARC copy of this book via Netgalley in return for an honest review. I have read others from this series but not all of them. It is a series that i have really enjoyed and is written so that there is no real need to read chronologically. The authors have created a cast of compelling characters that work well together. I love the way those characters are developing through the storylines of the novel.

This book is as good a read as the first, whilst the case is complicated i found it written in such a way that i understood it well and could follow the nuances. A war criminal, a dangerous murderer and the "heist" of bitmoney all come together to create a thrilling narrative.

Again I genuinely thought I'd already reviewed this but it's reappeared on my too read list

I love the Monkeewrench team and I'm enjoying the way the authors keep the series fresh and relevant. In this episode I found the bitcoin plot really hard to follow but I kept at it and enjoyed the finished product. So so lovely to see roadrunners character allowed to develop.

I feel like I should start this review with a disclaimer, in that I am a huge fan of P J Tracy and have read pretty much every book in the Monkeewrench/Twin Cities series. It will probably be no surprise, then, to read that I really enjoyed Ice Cold Heart.
From the first page, I felt like I was spending time with old friends, albeit ones that spend their time looking for murderers. Gino and Magozzi are wonderfully stereotypical Detectives, getting slightly older and grumpier by the day. This is what I love about them – they feel real and solid and I can picture them in my mind’s eye.
This doesn’t mean they don’t care. If anything, they care too much, putting themselves at risk to solve the brutal murder of two young women and try and save a third from the same fate.
Thankfully, they have the Monkeewrench team to help, IT experts who can go where the police can’t to track down a suspect. When I read the first book in this series, I liked the twist the Monkeewrench team add to what would otherwise have been a fairly standard story and this still applies, though I have to say the plots get more interesting and more complex each time.
It might all seem a bit complicated but it isn’t. Everything fits together nicely and nothing feels like a stretch. Which means by the time I got to the end, I felt completed satisfied. This is crime writing at its best and I can’t wait for the next in the series.
