Oh my word Shalini Boland has done it again and written an absolute cracker of a psychological thriller. I loved everything about this book from the very first page right up to the final page. This is a book full of suspense and you won’t want to put it down once you start it. A massive 5 stars from me.

Wow. Now that's a Psychological Thriller.
Faye planned a surprise birthday for her husband in the town where he and his sister grew up. when they get there she realizes he isn't very happy about the trip. The weather doesn't cooperate and then her husband and son end up missing. Her and her BIL follow the clues from where they were last. Her son Dylan's baseball cap is found on the beach. Then blood is found and a DNA shows it is her husband's blood but where are they.
Also her SIL is confronted from people of her past and 1 is not happy to see her at all. I was feeling so bad for them as they kept trying to find Jake and Dylan. Faye and her SIL Lainey are frantic ad keep talking to the police and trying to find more clues as to what happened. Meanwhile the book goes back and forth from the past to the present. So we see what happened to Lainey and her brother Jake as teenagers.
I had a slight feeling as to what had really happened but the very last part f the book was a shocker.
I could not put this book down.
I received this from Bookouture and NetGalley for a review,

I have read a few books by Shalini Boland and each and every one has been great! This book was no exception. I love her writing and I especially love how her story flows. Her books are not exceptionally long which makes them quick reads! This story alternates between PRESENT time with the family holiday in Swanage and subsequently the search for Jack and Dylan and THEN (years back with Jake and Lainey. This book is packed full of mystery and suspense and I did not see the ending coming on this one (which i love!) I think this book deserves 4 stars! Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Faye has planned a holiday for her family and that of her brother and sister in law. Jake and Lainey grew up near Swanage and although neither of them talk about their childhood much she and Lainey’s husband thought it would be a nice surprise for Jakes birthday to spend the week there. They rent a house and Lainey thinks she knows who the owner is although it doesn’t come to her immediately. When Jake takes their son to spot dolphins the others head down to the beach, having decided already that it is too much and too painful for the siblings to be reminded of their past and that going home is the best plan of action. Alternate chapters tell of Jake and Lainey when they were children and of the friends they had at the time and adventures of going to the caves which were technically out of bounds. We also get occasional chapters from a man who is lurking in the shadows but not who he is or why he is doing things. He watched the holiday house and you just get the feeling that he is on the wrong side of the tracks. Shalini is a master of words and has the talent to weave a brilliant story that keeps you between the pages. For quite a while you are not sure what is going to happen but from a glimpse in the first chapter and the tension between the pages you turn and turn again just knowing that there is something, just something not quite right. A very cleverly thought out plot (as ever!), believable characters and that special Shalini magic. Love it!

You can't go wrong with Shalini Boland, you know you will love everything she writes, at least I do!

We've all had family trips gone wrong... well maybe not that wrong...
You go on a family trip and nothing goes as planned, people start to disappear, secrets are just around the corner...
It keeps you wanting to turn the pages until the unexpected end...

Another great psychological thriller! Well written, you are into it from the start and don't want to put it down.

I can't wait to read Shalini's next book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Wow! I have never read a Shalini Boland book that I have not loved, this is no exception! The Marriage Betrayal is one twisted psychological thriller that I could not put down.

Faye surprises her husband Jake on his birthday with a trip to his childhood town. The gorgeous town lined by cliffs and ocean seemed like a fantastic getaway to Faye. Except her husband seems less than thrilled to be returning to the close knit town he grew up in. Does he have something to hide in his past? When he and his son go missing during a hike, Faye can't help but wonder if they have had an accident or did someone want Jake gone?

Oh my word, this book had me guessing all the way until the very end. I was on edge the whole time wondering what was going on with Jake. He seemed to want to get out of town as soon as possible, what on earth was he hiding? The more I learned about Jake and his sister Lainey, the more I began to question what had happened in their past. Neither seemed to ever want to talk about their childhood, much less revisit it on a vacation. Did Jake just get mad and leave or did something far more sinister happen?

As the story escalated I couldn't believe the direction it took. Was this really happening? I was completely floored at the finely twisted web that unraveled at the ending. I must say my detective skills failed me again as I never saw it coming. This is exactly why I find myself grabbing this author's books as soon as I can get my hands on them, because I can always count on a fantastic read!

Shalini Boland has become to me one of those authors that when I get on a bit of a meh streak and need something I can count on to pick me up I look for one of her books in my queue. Definitely an author I am working my way through her catalog and have enjoyed every one I’ve read so far and thankfully this psychological thriller, The Marriage Betrayal, was no exception.

Faye Townsend only wanted to make some beautiful memories with her family when she came up with the idea to plan a vacation to the seaside town her husband and his sister grew up in. Enlisting the help of her brother in law the surprise trip slowly fell into place as Faye tried to hide her excitement in the surprise.

Faye, her husband and their son along with Faye’s in-laws and their girls, all packed up and headed to the mystery destination only to have the siblings reaction to be not quite what the spouses expected when planning the trip. Faye still tried her best to get everyone to enjoy themselves but her husband was determined to head home. However, he agreed to take their son out on one last excursion before packing up but when they didn’t return Faye began to uncover the many secrets of the past in that town.

The Marriage Betrayal was again another book by this author that took very few page turns until I was quickly entranced in the story. The author has this captivating way of peeling back layer and layer as she tells her stories with plenty of twists and turns along the way to keep a reader guessing. And of course you never discover that last little twist until it’s all over. Another great story I would recommend.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Faye Townsend plans a surprise birthday trip to Swanage, the seaside town her husband Jake grew up in. She also invites her sister in law and her family to join them for a family vacation. As soon as they arrive at the vacation home,it's apparent that this isn't the surprise birthday trip he expected, and judging from her reaction,Lainey agrees with her brother. After spending one day in Swanage the adults agree that after spending one day there,it's best to head back home to London.
Jake and Faye agree that In the morning Jake will take their seven-year old Dylan to watch dolphins before they head home. Jake and Dylan still haven't made it back by lunch time, and by early Fayeevening with her son and husband still missing, Faye fears something awful had happened to her family.
I have been so exited to read this book, and I was pulled in from the very beginning. This is the first book I've read by Shalani Boland, and I'm eager to read the rest of her books.Once I picked this book up I didn't want to put it down. I wanted to see what had happened to Jake and his son,but I also wanted to know what secret he and Lainey have been keeping since they we're teenagers.
There's a few twist that seems very obvious where the story is headed, but will you be as surprised as I was when everything is finally revealed?I
A big thank you to Net Galley and Bookoutre for having me on this book tour!
I rate this 5 fabulous stars🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The Marriage Betrayal by Shalini Boland is a great mystery thriller. Faye Townsend and her brother-in-law plan the perfect vacation for their spouses, who are brother and sister. The vacation is not going as planned, so they plan on leaving early. The morning they are going to leave Faye's husband and their son Dylan, 6 years old, go to watch the whales, but never come back. Wow this book was really good, it kept me guessing until the end. I will reading more books by Ms. Boland, she sure knows how to tell a story with all it's twists and turns. I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys this genre.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.

The Marriage Betrayal by Shalini Boland was a fabulous read. I was dying to know what the next twist and turn would be in Faye's story. A shocking ending that didn't seem to quit - one surprise after another.

Faye has planned a lovely family vacation with her husband and young son along with her sister and brother-in-law and their children. They went back to the town where her husband and sister-in-law grew up - should be an idyllic holiday. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Nothing is going right on this vacation and it is plainly obvious that neither her husband or his sister want to be in this town. Why didn't they want to come back? What secrets are they hiding that only the two of them seem to know. Some of their former classmates are downright hostile - Faye finds all of this very odd.

Then her husband disappears. With her son. Where did they go? Did they fall off a cliff? Will she ever see her husband or son alive again?

No spoilers here, read the book for an intimate look into's Faye's world. Find out what makes her tick and hold your breath while she struggles to find her son.

In true Shalini Boland style this 8th psychological thriller is ‘one you start and don’t want to stop until you reach the end’
The author is prolific but the stories just keep coming and this is every bit as good as those gone before
Meet Faye and Jake, happily married with a son Dylan, enter Lainey ( Jakes sister ) and Tom ( her hubby ) and their 2 kids and off they go for a ‘surprise’ holiday for Jake’s birthday.....except Jake is horrified, Swanage has all kinds of memories from his past he has no desire to rekindle......
But they all make the most of it
Well they do until Jake and Dylan disappear
And are found via CCTV
AND THEN. the story really starts and grrrrr I cant say anymore because it might give away what then turns into a 360 degree twist and turns the book upside down!
Chilling ending and even chillier epilogue to this outstandingly clever story
Not always that easy to surprise me in books but this did, a few times!!
Loved it being set in Swanage and Dorset and loved the characters and the way the author fooled the reader with the characters!!!!
A great read that will have you wrong footed, reeling and thrilled!
10/10 5 Stars

Everything is going wrong with the trip Faye planned for her husband Jake, son Dylan, and her sister and brother-in-law. As soon as she finally agrees to call it quits Jake and Dylan disappear.
I love Shalini Boland’s books and this one is no exception. There’s never a dull moment and it is basically a commitment to read straight through the book. I highly recommend this book and thank Bookouture and NetGalley for letting me read this advance copy in exchange for my unbiased review.

I love Shalini Boland's books. I am immediately hooked from the first sentence, the characters are easy to get to know and you are straight into the action. There are so many unexpected turns that I defy anyone to say they guessed any part of it! I thoroughly recommend this book, an easy 5 stars.

The suspense builds quietly, from the first line and ends abruptly, leaving you wanting more, what happens next? Then you’re in the midst of a family holiday, a surprise that seems to be missing the mark?

The family scene that the author describes, from Faye’s point of view, seems familiar, ordinary, even relatable, but the house is creepy, and everyone is tense, and Faye sees someone outside. You are on tenterhooks waiting for something to happen. When it does, it seems straightforward, but it isn’t, and then you’re gripped, and it’s impossible to put down.

The characters are complex, they have so many layers, They all have secrets. There is an unidentified male point of view, that draws your thoughts in one direction, but then the plot twists, and you’re no longer sure.

The twists are subtle but believable, it’s like walking in a maze. I love how the plot gradually revealed salient details, using flashbacks to Lainey and Jake’s past, but is the point of view reliable?

What you suppose is the final twist, poses a moral dilemma, but from my point of view is satisfying, but then there is a further revelation that ends this riveting story in an unforgettable way.

I received a copy of this book from Bookouture via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

🌊BOOK REVIEW🌊
.
Happy Publishing Day to “The Marriage Betrayal” by Shalini Boland. Thank you to @netgalley #partner for my advanced copy. 📚🎉
.
Faye Townsend wanted to plan the perfect surprise for her husband Jake’s upcoming birthday and she thought she had the perfect present!
.
After much thought Faye rented a large home overlooking the sea in Swange, the town in Dorset, where her husband grew up. She even invited along her sister-in-law, Lainey, and her family.
.
However, as soon as they arrive in Swange, Jack becomes withdrawn and sullen and his sister, Lainey, gets an unwelcome reception from some of her old peers.
.
On the morning they decide to leave Swange, Jack takes his son to go whale watching before they head home but neither of them returns.
.
When a missing report is issued and a search is sent out, their son’s red hat is discovered on the cliffs below. Did they fall into the sea? Are they injured? What happened?
.
As the search continues and the minutes stretch into days Faye finds herself under questioning. The police want to know more about the man to whom she is married.
.
Faye will do anything to find her only child, even if it means facing her own secrets. How far would you go to save your child?
.
This was a great psychological thriller! I do not remember which one of my Bookstagram friends recommended it to me but I enjoyed it.
.
My one complaint was that the ending seemed rushed compared to the pacing of the rest of the story, and a little far-fetched, but the twists and turns totally threw me! .
