Wow this is a nerve tingling thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Such a clever story, I was totally impressed with how wonderfully written this book is.

This is my third book by Shalini Boland and she doesn’t disappoint! Faye’s son and husband disappear while they are on a family vacation, and you soon learn everything is not as it seems. It had some fun twists, but my favorite of Boland’s work is the Perfect Family.

4.25/5 stars

The story is about two London families (Jake and Faye and their son; Lainy and Tom and their two daughters), going on vacation to the seaside. Jake and Lainy are brother and sister, and grew up in the small seaside town. The story becomes ominous as they are greeted by old friends from their time growing up there. This is a page turner! Lots of twists and turns made for a very compelling story. Highly recommended.

I want to thank NetGalley, Shalini Boland, and the publisher for an Arc copy of this book. I have read all of Shalini Boland's books because they are so thrilling and suspenseful. They keep you guessing until the very end. They fill you with all of these possibilities about what could be going on only to find out it's even crazier then you suspected. Her books are the kind of books that keep me up all night not wanting to quit reading.
This book was no different Faye plans a perfect summer vacation for her family by going to visit the seaside town where her husband grew up. Her husband Jake and son Dylan go on a walk by the cliffs one of the mornings and just never come back. They find Dylan's cap but no sign of them. Immediately you think well something sinister is going on and throughout the book you come to find a lot of possibilities and they even have you questioning Faye. This book had me at the edge of my seat and was happily surprised by this twist. It's books like these that make me love psychological thrillers.

Wow this book is excellent! This is how a psychological thriller should be written. Plenty of twists and turns and just when you think you have figured out where the story is going, then it all changes and you have to rethink.
Interesting characters and a cracking story, I really enjoyed this one.

Yet again Shalini Boland delivers a psychological thriller that had me gripped from the first page.Faye books a surprise holiday for her husband Jake and son Dylan for his birthday to Swanage where he grew up and they are joined by his sister Lainey and her husband Tom.But from the start Jake just doesn't seem happy and wants to return home to London, but on the day they all agree to go home Jake disappears with Dylan after an early morning walk on the cliff tops and Faye's world falls apart. The story is told from now and in flashbacks to Jake's and Lainey's childhood and without giving anything more away about the plot this really is a first rate psychological thriller, something that Shalini Boland seems to excel in,once again another 5 star winner for me !

Another fantastic book from Shalini, it kept me gripped throughout with good characters, very well written and an edge of seat psychological thriller.

Overall it was a good story which I thoroughly enjoyed and can recommend.

I love Shalini Bolands books- they're a refreshing change from my usual genre and so very well written.

And this one was no exception- A thriller story revolving around the fact that a husband and son have gone missing while on holiday.

Shalini has this real knack of leading you in a certain direction and then out of nowhere surprising you- and when you sit back and think about it- the clues were there all along- you just didn't really pay enough attention to them.

It's a difficult book to review as no matter what you want to say regarding the story- you just quite can't get your point across without potentially dropping spoilers.

I have rated this one a 4* read- it was good but not as good as her previous books which I rated 5*'s.

I found the main character Faye quite annoying, and that affected my enjoyment.

FIVE STARS FOR SURE.
Wow, what a page turner! This was a great, gripping, tense, compelling , fast - paced phycological thriller that sucked me in from the very first page ! I am very impressed by this writer. The characters are well developed and hold my interest. I most highly recommend this book 100 %. However, don't start reading it if you have anything important to do for the next 24 to 48 hours. If you do, you will either be highly frustrated because you can't get back to the book or you will find yourself neglecting things you really should be doing in order to read. When I was not reading it, I was thinking about it. It's well written and nicely paced. Shalini Boland has become one of my favorite authors.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was a great thriller. I had a very hard time putting it down, and every time I thought I figured out what was happening a new twist in the plot was revealed. This is true up until the very last page. WOW .
Two couples and their children all go on a holiday together to celebrate Jake's birthday. Faye, Jake's wife, plans the whole trip and feels horrible that the trip is not what they all thought it would be, and everyone wants to leave early. Then, Jake and Dylan (their son) go to watch dolphins on the cliffs and never return. The police and all involved are convinced there must have been a terrible accident and set up a huge search to find them. Eventually clues are discovered, the plot twists and turns, and answers are revealed.
This book is written with chapters alternating between the past and present, giving readers much needed background information and look into the character's lives. The storyline and characters were well developed and made for a gripping thriller.
I never saw the ending coming. This is a must read for any fan of a great thriller!!
Thank you NetGalley.

I have read several books by Shalini Boland and the one thing I can say that connects them all is her plot twist gets me everytime.

She keeps you on the edge of your seat and just when you think you have it all figured out you realize that you were again mistaken no matter how out of the box you think.

The Marriage Betrayal is a fast paced book that will keep your mind moving and guessing all the way until the end!

Another fabulous book by this fabulous author!

I loved the writing style in this book, and was hooked right away. It held my attention throughout and I finished it over a couple of days. I enjoyed the story, the wondering, the mystery and the twists and turns.
However, I did feel the story didn't match the 'blurb' given very well. This didn't matter, because the story was still good, it just meant I was expecting certain aspects of the story that never came up. I also feel that one of the major big twists left many earlier character communications making less sense, but that may just be me. The final twist was good though, quite dark.
I will definitely be checking out other books by this author.

I love books that have an ending that make you say what? and question everything you read up to that point. The Marriage Betrayal was one of those books. I really enjoyed it.
Up until the last few chapters, the book is about a woman whose husband and son has gone missing on vacation. The ending changes everything when all was revealed, including things about the husband and the sister in law that I did not know or suspect. But it was a bit anticlimactic. It could have been a bit more full of action but was instead going, going, and then over.
But I do like a good tale of a mother that will do anything to protect her child.

The Marriage Betrayal – Shalini Boland

Well Ms Boland you certainly took me on a whirlwind journey with this novel. I can honestly say that I absolutely freaking loved it. This is a psychological thriller and a half. I think this could be a hard to review for me to do; I really don’t want to give up too much of the plot so hopefully there won’t be too many spoilers here.

A whole afternoon and early evening was lost to this novel (no ironing was done), I seriously couldn’t put it down, just one more chapter led to me reading it all with only one quick break. I was left with a serious book hangover and felt unable to start a new novel until the next night (So not me). My mind kept going back to the final twist and how it was so unexpected it took my breath away.

Can you imagine how horrific it would be arranging a surprise for someone you love and during said surprise one of the very worst things that could happen to a family happens? Someone going missing and taking your child with them the bottom falls out of your world. The journey of trying to piece together who, what, where, when and why is a complex tale with a fantastic sting in the tail.

Being told to us in chapters alternating between the past and the present in each we find out more of the secrets that are being kept by two of the main protagonists, such sad and somewhat dark scary secrets. The other two protagonists are quite manipulating but I didn’t realise how much till the end.

The novel has some sensitive issues within its pages; Ms Boland has woven a story involving domestic violence and child abduction with a somewhat unusual resolution with the final shocker in the epilogue.

If you’ve never read anything by Shalini Boland I suggest you treat yourself to one or two of her novels. In my humble opinion she’s getting better and better with each novel. I’m waiting rather impatiently for the next one.

Read for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture
