Another sweet book about the Holley family. Miriam, the youngest daughter, is pregnant with unmarried. She feels every one is looking at her, condemning her and so is more or less hiding out in the apartment she shares with one of her sisters. She secures employment at the church, and then at the veterinary clinic. She has to make the decision to keep or give up the baby. I have been lucky to read the series in order, but if you just pick up this book, it certainly won't leave you wondering what is going on. Hewitt weaves in the back stories very effectively, never telling too much for those who have read the previous books, but just enough for those who haven't.

‘The Holley Sisters of Thornthwaite - Book 4’ features Miriam Holley as she returns to her family home in the idyllic Lake District village of Thornthwaite. She has been taking time away from being the Vicar’s rebellious daughter to travel the world and break free of the restrictive small village community where she feels she is constantly judged – and almost always unfavourably. Her mother and father have left the Vicarage and are now missionaries in China, leaving the new Vicar Simon, once her father’s Curate, in charge as the new Vicar. Simon is engaged to marry her sister Rachel, who is busy packing up her belongings ready to become the Vicar’s wife, and it is to Rachel’s home that Miriam returns with a secret that is plaguing her life, weighing heavily in her mind and certainly must be sorted out as soon as possible.
She is so happy to be reunited with her sisters and to feel the love and familiarity of being back in her picturesque home village. She longs to have everything that her sisters have; happiness, love and to be settled in a fulfilling life. It’s strange indeed for her, because she had once longed to break free of all this and carve out a new life for herself, somewhere far away. She has changed so much since she left home and she really hopes she will be accepted back into the community. She is the youngest of the Holley sisters it is true, but she has no boyfriend, no job and is living on borrowed time. Her sisters are shocked that Miriam has returned home and rally around helping her get her life back on track and soon she has not one, but two part-time jobs and a flat of her own. She even strikes up a warm friendship with Dan her landlord and who is also one of her new employers. She dares to breathe more easily. Maybe, just maybe one day her dreams may even come true. This is Miriam’s story; a contemporary story of a lone woman growing up and beginning a new life with the love and support of her family, friends and yes, happily embracing the abounding love afforded to the Vicar’s returned daughter once again living in her local community.
I read this story eagerly as I am a real fan of Kate Hewitt’s beautiful, lyrical storytelling and of her engaging storyboards and timelines. I was in very good hands. The story flowed and although this was the first novel I have read in the ‘The Holley Sisters of Thornthwaite series’, I soon felt as if I knew the well-crafted and warm characters in the story. I had come home as well. I received this book through my membership of NetGalley and from Tule Publishing in return for an honest review. Thank you most sincerely for my copy. I recommend it as a good read, full of love, support, friendship and also an endearing fledgling new romance.

This was a super easy, heartwarming story. From page 1, I was in love with the Hollie family. A big loving family in a village. A village and a small scandall when the youngest comes home pregnant. This story highlights the importance of second chances and sibling love. Have now happily found a new author to read!

I have not read anything by Kate Hewitt before and did not realise this was part of a series, until the end. I found it an enjoyable and easy read, that touched on the tensions that can arise in a family. It was enjoyable watching the story unfold and I was engaged enough with the characters to care what happened to them. There were moments where I would have loved to know more, but this did not stop me from enjoying the book and would recommend it to those who enjoy this genre of writing. A day well spent. Thank you.

I’m keen to read more of these books. The plot is easy to follow, characters are likeable. Overall, this is a charming read.

The fourth book in the Holley sisters series is the story of Miriam. Miriam is trying to find answers to the question of life and navigating the difficulties of life. The story is about how she tries to find her future. A good read
