A thoroughly comfortable book about two people with issues in their lives. Evie lacking confidence is built up by Jake, who himself has grief to work through. They were believable people.
A very nice book.

It did feel a little odd to read a Christmas book in the middle of June, but the writing was so good I felt immediately that I was in the festive spirit. I thought this was a lovely story and had me gripped throughout. Would definitely recommend it as a must read during the winter months.

Loved this book so much. It’s a very well written story. Evie and Jake’s interactions had me hooked from their very first encounter. Evie and her never ending optimism was a joy as was moody broody Jake. Loved watching their burgeoning friendship grow and transform into more. Really enjoyed watching Evie burrow under Jake’s skin despite his efforts to hold on to his grief.

It was especially lovely how they helped each other grow during the story. Jake helped her gain confidence, courage to stand up to her parents and belief in how special she was in her own way. Evie helped him find joy in life again, made him a part of the community and helped him deal with and let go of his grief and guilt.

Excellent read. Look forward to more from this author.

A sweet love story between Jake a 35 year old widower and Evie a 28 year old who has recently dumped her unfaithful fiancé. Jake’s heart was severely broken two years ago by the unexpected death of his young wife Maria, and Evie’s boyfriend’s constant criticism has completely diminished Evie’s self confidence. The book covers the slow journey Jake and Evie cautiously take to fall in love. A gentle story with no bad language or unnecessary sex scenes.
Thanks to netgalley and Hodder & Stoughton for an electronic arc.

A great read, this book is the story of Evie and Jake.

Evie runs her dream shop in the village, after she split up from her fiance and left her life in the city behind. Jake has just moved to the village, hiding away from the world after losing his wife. They don't get off to the best of starts, but once they get to know each other will they give in to the attraction?

Not an overly christmassy book, as they head off to France o tavoid Christmas, so perfect to read at any time of the year.

Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Bit of a weird time to be reading a Christmassy novel but I actually loved it! It was cosy, heartwarming and overall just really lovely. I enjoyed the location and liked both of the main characters and felt that the story just flowed really easily and nicely.
