Should be prescribed reading for all women once they reach a 'certain age'! It's a manual for LIFE!! I actually went out and bought myself a hard copy - and I don't lend it out to anyone because I know I'll never get it back. Instead, I tell everyone to go out and buy their own!
Every woman will relate to this book. Every woman NEEDS this book! It's brilliant, funny and oh, so true! It's like the authors live inside my head and maybe also sneak into my house undetected at times too!
I LOVE IT!!

This was such a refreshing and interesting take on the self-help book. Whilst reading it felt like I was having a conversation with an older sister who had been there and done it all and was imparting her learned wisdom to me. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

Such a funny, eart-warming and truthful book. I could relate so much to the experiences told by the authors and couldnt put the book down. Highly enjoyable and recommend to anyone in their mid-thirties upwards. Read this book and you'll definitely laugh and learn!

This was a really good read although I was expecting more of a self-help vibe as it calls itself a manual.
Full of relatable points and anecdotes of the middle-age age group. I did laugh out loud several times and really did feel a connection to certain parts.
I just am not sure what we were meant to take from the book. If the book was simply for people of this age group to just relate to and make them smile - perfect. But calling it a 'manual', there's an expectation of self-help or improvement tips but there weren't any.
Still a good read. I did enjoy it.

Great book! funny, relatable, easy to read. Some of the lists were a bit silly but for the most part they hit the nail on the head :D

I’m Absolutely Fine! is a about recognising that women can be imperfect, and that we have more in common than we think, and that we are in this together. I really wanted to like this book, but reading it felt like a bit of an ordeal.

As a manual for the imperfect woman, it does provide a few good bits of wisdom, but only when it’s not desperately trying too hard to be funny. The majority of the book, however, reads like manic, overly excited (did they mention how much they like coffee?) bits of self-deprecating, middle-class anecdotes that often fall short of being truly entertaining or relatable.

Or perhaps I’m just not the target audience for this book.

This book was a breath of fresh air full of laugh out loud moments. I felt solidarity with the women who wrote this and who this book is aimed at. The writing is brilliant. It’s fresh and entertaining and brings up so many things that happen to us and the ridiculous thoughts we have. This is one of those books you read and nod along with whilst laughing and going ‘I do that!’ ‘That’s me!’

This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

This is a manual that is very much needed at the moment, with laugh out loud moments that are achingly relatable too.

This book is written by the presenters of a podcast I used to listen to, of the same name. As a woman in my mid 30's, I was excited about the podcast, expecting women in middle age talking the real talk about the time in life that I'm fast approaching. However, the podcast didn't really deliver as there was a lot of talk about beauty products...of which I couldn't be less interested, and frankly couldn't afford. However, this book is far more what I'd hoped the podcast to be. It is still touched with the privilege that is prevalent in the podcast - so, middle class middle age - but is far more relatable and much broader in terms of the experiences it discusses.

No one person will find that everything in this book will resonate with them, but that's ok. We're all different, and it's written by two different women. I don't think that should be a negative. I think it's exciting that this time in a woman's life is being given some air time in a frank, funny and honest way. No excuses, no euphemisms, just straight talk with equal parts snark and heart.

This book isn't particularly deep, and I think I was looking for a bit more connection with the authors. As it is, I couldn't tell you which author wrote which part or really anything about either of them, as their voices weren't very distinct and the writing didn't get into anything specifically personal. Obviously that's their right as to how much they share, but I was hoping for something a bit more.

What made me want to read this book, in all honesty, was the full title.
I’m Absolutely Fine!: A Manual for Imperfect Women. Being an imperfect woman myself I had to know what this book held in store. Now while the book is clever and funny and there are moments where it feels like the authors are inside my brain and speaking directly to my own insecurities and worries etc I do however think that for me personally (as a childless millennial) I may not quite be the target audience but I did enjoy this book. This book feels like one I should hang on to until I’m a little bit older and then it may appeal to me more. That being said it is an interesting look at what it means to be a woman.

Firstly I get that this book will not be for everyone, the writers basically say the same in the introduction but it was definitely my kind of read.
The book is a collection of essays, lists, pieces of advice for “Midults” like myself. I found it witty and mostly relatable. A lot of the book for me was “omg I do that” and “that is so true” I could see an awful lot of myself in there. Some parts I didn’t quite relate to and didn’t find the same humour in them, which was to be expected.
I quite enjoyed the chaotic formula of the book, I liked the layout being a mix of paragraphs and lists , it made it a quick and easy read.
This lighthearted and fun manual is a definite success in my eyes but I can understand why some may have struggled to enjoy.

I don’t really know what to make of this book. Calling it a manual was what attracted me to check out this title but it’s a collection of relatable stories besides the accompanying rants.

It lost me after Chapter 1. Leaving me with much more question marks and what’s the point of this book?

1 star

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This book made me laugh so much! I loved it! So relatable and something to cheer your day up with as well as making you realise your not alone and are not the only one.
I couldn't stop reading this, it really made me giggle (maybe a little too much at times).

I was overjoyed to receive an advanced copy of I´m Absolutely Fine from Annabel Rivkin and Emilie McMeekan. I didn´t know of their blog - Midulthood before reading the book but I have become a big fan of their witty, sensitive and heartfelt writing. Their insight into many of the tough issues that women face in their 30s and 40s is quite valuable and I look forward to following their podcast and exploring their blog in the future.

I unfortunately can’t download this book without the kindle option - it’s a shame because I was very much looking forward to it. It seems a fair few have struggled too / found the book in a muddle anyway! Please do let us know if there is a kindle version so I can form my own opinion.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Octopus Publishing for my copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is essentially a humorous life survival guide for over 40s women. It features tongue in cheek advice on relationships and much more.
I found it to be a bit so-so; funny in parts, irrelevant / boring / navel-gazing in others.
I enjoy both non-fiction and self-help books but this was far from the best book I've read this year.
2.5 stars but I'll round it up to 3.
