Another brilliant book by Adele parks. Full of twists and turns right till the last chapter.

Have been a fan of Adele Parks for 20 years now and have loved pretty much all of her books except perhaps one or two. I read this one in two days. Fabulous. I love the darker direction she has gone in. Suspense, twisty and full of drama. Loved it.

Unfortunately this was not the read I had expected.. It is a well written story, but the subject just didnt grab me.

This is very much a book of two - if not three - parts. In the first part we are introduced to Daisy and Simon. Daisy is portrayed by the author as a responsible character - almost too sensible and organised - whereas Simon is less so, has issues with handling his drink and is slowly losing the respect of the friends the pair have known since their university days together. The author did a sterling job in this scene-setting part of the story, influencing the reader into making judgments about each of the main characters, a situation only reinforced by the terrible events which change the course of the family's lives.
I well and truly followed the author's trail of breadcrumbs leading me into the desired mindset only to have to set the book down and completely rethink everything in what I felt was the filling in the sandwich of the plot. My 'swingometer' of likes and dislikes for the majority of the adults in the book was set to maximum, their words and actions changing my opinions of each of them as regularly as the chapters moved along.
This book is quite possibly the biggest smokescreen of a story I've read this year and I regret having left it on the shelf for so long. Adele Parks remains among the authors I know I can rely on to keep my interest from the first page to the last.

I read quite a lore of Adele Parks and I’ve had this one so long I decided to download it on audible. Very disappointing. Didnt find it gripping at all and thought actually it was a pretty horrible read.

Firstly, I'd like to thank Netgalley and HQ for the eARC for an honest review. I found the audiobook on Libby (the library app) and have never listened to an audiobook so quickly! It only took me four days to get through. I have an hour and twenty minute daily commute when I'm working and even when I got home I would continue to listen. I have to mention that this book carries many trigger warnings and advise looking them up before reading.

This is a physiological domestic thriller. It follows a family of three, Daisy, Simon and Millie. It is dual POV from Daisy and Simon. Like the title suggests there are a huge amount of lies and secrets between the married couple. This book had a huge affect on me. I have never cried in horror before and this book made me feel so much. There are moments in this book that are horrifying and I was gripped. By the second half of this book I was rooting for this family to get through. There is a moment in the book that Parks literally made me doubt what I had read and convinced me of something when in reality what I thought at first was true. Just amazing writing!

The last hour of the book was immense and I was literally having to do the whole slow breathing exercises to get me through. The ending was exactly what I wanted to happen and it wasn't a happy ending because everything that these characters went through can't create a happy ending but it was a good ending. I look forward to reading more from Adele Parks and have Just My Luck on my TBR!

I love everything by Adele Parks and this was no different.

Daisy and Simon are happily married with a daughter. But when Simon wants to try for another baby all the lies that have been keeping the family together come out.

There are discussions around alcohol dependency so be aware in case this is a trigger for you.

I really wanted to enjoy this but ultimately found the pace too slow so unfortunately DNFed - would read this author again in the future

Lies Lies Lies by Adele Parks explores the darkest corners of a relationship in free fall in a mesmerizing tale of marriage and secrets.

I was unsure whether I'd like this as it has very mixed reviews on Amazon, however I quickly got into it and couldn't put it down. It does cover the triggering topic of alcoholism, so this book may not be for everyone. Following the events of the night of the party, there were numerous different paths Adele could have taken this book, so I was intrigued to find out where the story would go! As the book neared the end, there were a lot of twists and turns which surprised me. Perhaps not the best ending, but a good book nonetheless.

I have read Adele parks for years and was looking forward to this one. However I found this book a bit unbelievable. I could not warm to the characters at all, especially Daisy. I could not believe she would go that. The first half the book was interesting and made me want to carry on reading, but then it got a bit unbelievable. I read it to the end and was disappointed. Hopefully her next book will be better.

"Being a parent is mind-blowing. The way you love a child is different from any other sort of love. It's more intense and absolute, more demanding. More healing. Friends and lovers come with conditions, parents come with responsibilities, self-love is always butting up against self-loating - at least that's been my experience".

I am giving Lies Lies Lies a 3-star rating --- it started out as a 5 and then slowly slide down the curve.

It started off very strong - the use of first person narratives by each of the main characters had me emotionally connected to their stories. I could relate to their inner struggles, self-doubt, outward projection. The issues were real and raw in their re-telling,

I did find the second half a bit of an uphill climb. - some scenes to be overdone and I frequently lost my connection to the characters who became overacting caricatures. There is only so much twisting and turning you can do before tire out your readers. Sigh.

As always I enjoyed this book. Just wish I had time to read it in one go.

Some bits I found bit disappointing.

Oh my goodness! What a ride! If Lies Lies Lies was a fairground ride it would be a fast-paced rollercoaster, a twisty helter-skelter and a jaw-dropping ghost train all rolled into one. I raced through it so quickly I felt like I had to stop for breath at the end; it is literally breathtaking!

It is such a difficult book to review as I don't want to give anything away about the highly addictive and stunning plot so I'll just mention a little bit about the characters. Simon is an alcoholic and whilst I found the prologue about his childhood very amusing, there's nothing funny about him single-handedly destroying his life. Simon's wife Daisy has seen his drinking get progressively worse and it's about to rip her family apart.

When something major happens about a third of the way through the book I thought I'd missed something but I didn't want to stop reading to check as my eyes were the size of saucers and wouldn't tear themselves away from the page. It was only when I read that particular passage again on finishing the book that I realised Adele Parks is more wily than a fox.

Not just a brilliant psychological thriller, Lies Lies Lies is also a stark reminder about the dangers of alcohol. I know most of us like a drink, myself included, but when an enjoyment becomes an addiction it's really important to confront it rather than make excuses or sweep it under the carpet until it becomes too late.

Lies Lies Lies is more gripping than a strip of velcro, twisting and turning like an excitable snake as all the lies and secrets are revealed. An absolutely brilliant piece of fiction and one I won't forget about in a hurry. Very highly recommended.

A terrible accident happens but who is responsible? More truths have to come out in the open after the accident.

Lies spill over and a huge twist comes out at the end.

This was SO good! I loved everything about it, the pace, the writing style, the suspense, the climax. Everything. It was so well written in my opinion! This was the first book I’ve read in a while that I adored, in this genre.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
