An enjoyable heart warming read with likeable characters and a charming location in Dragonfly Farm. This was my first book by this author but I am excited to read more of her work.

4 stars

This was an enjoyable read with good, believable characters and a storyline based on an ancient feud.
Entertaining read.

What a fantastic book. This was my first Veronica Henry book, but it won’t be my last. I had seen them before on bookshelves and thought I’d like to read them, but somehow they didn’t make it to the top of my list..... until now. So thanks Netgalley/publishers for giving me extra kick I needed. I will definitely be checking out her other books very soon.

The story is set mostly at Dragonfly farm, around two cousins, Tabitha and Georgia and their Great Uncle. Tabitha lives at Dragonfly Cottage and after a family tragedy, what will happen to the farm? But it’s so much more than that and so very cleverly written. The characters do have some unusual names, but it Doesn’t take away from the book and I loved the twists and turns and each character that was introduced to us. The story is fantastic and keeps you guessing throughout. I loved the relationship between the neighbours and their love/hate relations that went back through the generations.

A brilliant summer read or equally one to snuggle up with in the winter.

I love Veronica’s book and this is no exception. Set in a village in Somerset, it’s the story of two neighbouring families the Culbones and the Melchiors. There had been bad blood between the two families for many generations. It all started when a Culbone lost Dragonfly Farm to a Melchior in a game of cards. There was only a river separating the two, but with all the bad feelings the gap felt a lot larger. With the death of Gum Melchior and his unusual bequests in his will, are the feuding families going to be at last able to call a truce. The book unravels the lies and betrayals of three generations of the two feuding families. Another great read which I can recommend.

Enjoyed this book & getting to know the characters, however didn't find it as enjoyable as books previously read by Veronica

The Culbones and the Melchiors have been on opposite sides of the river for generations....and opposite sides of everything else too! But when Tabitha, Georgia and Gabriel find their lives intertwined, things aren’t quite as they’d expected....
A lovely book. An easy, enjoyable read, great fun.

At first glance this seems like a predictable movements of the 1970s - but it is much more than that.
The Culbones and the Melchiors have been feuding neighbours for over a century. When one enters the lair of the other there is much defensiveness and misunderstanding.Whilst it is obvious that Tab is marshmallow underneath, the mixed up fraternities are far less straightforward.
Lola whom I had labelled a diva is actual!y human. Peop!e who seem staunch and the person indication of goodness -are.
I really enjoyed how well writhe. the two flashbacks into other times explaining two very different secrets and how evocative of the different eras they are.
It really is well worth reading

A nice story set against a backdrop of two families feuding over old history. When great uncle Matthew dies, the Will brings out the fact that their families are not at all as the stories went. Time for secrets to come out and wounds to be healed.

I usually love Veronica’s books and couldn’t wait to read this one
I was so disappointed to say I didn’t love it
The storyline was not enough to keep you captured until the end and I must admit I skipped pages and didn’t feel like I missed anything

Veronica Henry never fails to draw me into the English countryside setting, creating a feeling of warmth and content as I get to indulge in yet another feel-good tale.
The characters of two households, Melchior and Culbone are brought together by events which uncover family secrets. The two families have been at war with each other over the last few generations. The story transports us back and forth from the past to the present, as we learn about the secrets and devastation that has led to the current day. The question is whether they will be able to repair the damage and develop new relationships from the ‘skeletons in the closet.’
Most definitely a page-turner for me and I sincerely hope that there will be both a prequel & sequel.
Many thanks to Netgalley for my copy and the chance to review.

Veronica Henry is among my favourite authors and this book did not let me down. The setting of Somerset was perfectly described as was the farm. The characters are very true to life in my opinion and I really connected with them. Unusually too I was surprised a couple of times and it didn't go exactly as I expected. A great engaging read. 4.5 stars.

I like Veronica Henry books and this book was very much as I expected it to be. I was not as engaged with the characters as I have been in some of her other books but did enjoy reading it.

Another fantastic read from Veronica Henry. A home from home is the story of two families divided for many years following a row over property. Dragonfly farm is inhabited by Tabitha and Gum, her great uncle.. They are the Melchoirs and their arch rivals, the Culbones live across the river. Life is simple for the residents at Dragonfly until an accident occurs and life changes forever. How will the rivalry between the Melchoirs and the Culbones affect life now? A great read, ideal for relaxing.

A tale of families, feuds, secrets and a glorious farm in the Somerset countryside. A relaxed, gentle read with some intriguing storylines, credible characterisation and a good sense of place. An enjoyable family saga.

A lovely feel good read.
Dragon fly farm and rushbrooke house are not only repeated by a river but also by a historic feud between the 2 families.
When their uncle dies, Tabitha and Georgia expect Dragon fly farm to be divided between them. However the reading of the will divulged the split will be 3 ways to include Gabriel, an apparent stranger to the family.
The complex set up of 3 families is explored, alongside the handsome Dash in rushbrooke house, who on first impressions also seems to be after the farm.
Thank you for the copy net galley....I definetly recommend.

It’s a while since I’ve read a Veronica Henry book so I was looking forward to this one and I was not disappointed. Interesting characters that felt like real people with real dilemmas we can relate to. I read it in a coup of sittings. Looking forward to the next one.

A wonderfully sparkling story of a family farm and an inheritance split three ways. Family feuds and country living come to life in this delightfully written book.
