I always love a Veronica Henry book and this one didn't disappoint. Great characters and a lovely setting. I would whole heartedly recommend for fans and folks new to VH's books.

A tale of two houses separated by a bubbling sparkling river - fantastic read. Plenty of gorgeous scenery with an injection of intrigue. The unravelling of two family histories revealing secrets and hidden loves. The characters are so compelling and the writing is so warm, it’s just easy to dive in into this book and get enveloped in a cosy, comfy cocoon. Loved it!

Thank you NetGalley

An absolute pearler of a book, most definitely one of my favourites this year. I love Veronica Henry's style of writing and boy does this book have it all. Love, loss, friendships, secrets, family dynamics, its jam packed with emotions. I have really struggled to try to write a review without spoiling it for the reader. So all I am going to say is, read for yourself the story of two families that have been feuding for years and now the younger generation are adults, will we see any end to the feud? An absolute must read, do not leave it on your to be read pile x

Loved this, and I didn't guess the significance of the relationships between the characters before it was revealed. Cleverly written and the author is able to hold the reader without giving away the plot. Would recommend.

This is a very definite 'holiday' book, or beach read.

I enjoyed meeting all of the characters and was invested in finding out what happened to them. My only slight issue was that the backwards timeline introduced a few too many Uncles / Great Uncles, friends of brothers etc and I found it difficult to follow who was related to who at times.

However, overall this is an enjoyable fun read.

Like the Montagues and Capulets, the Melchiors and Culbones had been feuding for more than a hundred years after Dragonfly farm was won by. a Melchior in a game of cards.. So why does Matthew Melchior’s will leave the farm and cider business shared between his two great nieces, Tabitha and Georgia, and Gabriel Culbone? As the three try to uncover the mysteries of the past that link the two families together, they also need to find a way of living together to keep the farm in tact.

I enjoyed this book as it had several storylines, across the different generations, interwoven together, all believable and delightfully brought to life. Having so many key characters actually worked and kept the story flowing, without suffering from the confusion of other novels. The settings were all well described and easy to imagine.

A real pleasure to read.

Great read, full of family secrets.

Told from various points of view, but easy to keep up with.

I would love there to be a sequel to find out what happens next.

Another excellent family story from Veronica Henry, this time spanning three generations, full of intrigue and family secrets, and and all set in the beautiful cider making county of Somerset. The real strength of this novel lies in the creation and development of all it's characters, both main and supporting. They are distinctive, interesting people who draw the reader on as their stories progress. A great read, and not just for a holiday!

This such a fantastic read. All housework has been abandoned whilst I finished this beautifully written story of the Culbones and Melchiors. I love the author's style and never fail to be swept away to the gorgeous locations she creates. The twists and turns that unite and weave the two families together are on occasion heartbreaking, but so compelling it's impossible to stop and the culmination of all the threads being pulled together is just perfect. One to be added to your TBR pile immediately!

This book is so full of life, you feel like you know every single person how they look,if you close your eyes you could be in front of the log fire at Dragonfly Cottage
I loved the way the author interwove the story of two families destined to hate each other on opposing sides of the river
But then legends are not always quite as true as we would like them to be
To save this cottage and farm that makes the most amazing cider (you could almost taste it) it will take a new generation of these families to try and bring their lives together in some way to save both their family homes
I truly wanted there to be an epilogue telling me how everyone managed to muddle through the next stage of their intertwined lives
Well worth reading will make you feel warm and fuzzy in parts as well as making you hold your breath in other parts wishing people would make the right decision

This is another fantastic novel from Veronica Henry, it has plenty of twists and turns within two families some very unexpected. Will this have the ending you think it will have or will the reader have a surprise. I really recommend you read this novel and enjoy it as much as I have done. The storyline is great, well done to Veronica Henry.

A lovely story! Two families have been warring neighbours for many years, ever since a Melchior won Dragonfly Farm from a far richer Culbone. The Culbone’s had tried many times to buy the farm back, but it wasn’t for sale. But now Matthew Melchior, the current owner, has died, and left the farm equally to his two nieces Tabitha, who has lived there most of her life, and Georgia. .... and to Gabriel Culbone - the enemy!

This is a story of old secrets, and new beginnings. Nothing is perhaps as it seems, there are other secrets to be revealed. You soon begin to care for all of these people and hope for a happy outcome for them, which they get in unexpected ways.

A delightful read with a great feel-good factor.

This book is a perfect treat ! Definitely worth saving for a holiday read - I can think of nothing better than lounging by a pool, under a sun shade, sipping a cocktail and reading Veronica Henry’s ‘A Home from Home ‘ . I spent a fab weekend reading it and almost wish I’d saved it for my holidays but whenever you read it, you’ll love Tabitha, Georgia, Gabriel and Dash and follow their story with quiet joy. I’ll have to go back now to catch up with Veronica Henry’s back catalogue...

The Melchiors and the Culbones are arch rivals in this cider making area. An untimely death reveals a strange decision in his will, causing the 2 families to collide. You will have to read it to find out how it turns out.

After reading a few new to me authors and genres it was nice to go back to one of my favourite authors and just slip right in to a style I like.

It tells the story of Tabitha and Georgia who sadly lose their uncle. Then they find out his estate is being left to the two of them and a mystery man called Gabriel. They set out to discover who he is and how he fits in and uncover all sorts of family secrets and lies. Will they all get their happy ending of carry on long term family feuds?

I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of this book but this is my honest opinion of the book.
