This one was an okay for me. Readable, but not truly my style. Would try the author again, though.

Due to a passing in the family a few years ago and my subsequent health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for years after the bereavement. Thank you for the opportunity.

When someone disappears, the police does everything they possibly can. Looking for clues, interviewing people, talking to the press to ask the public for help, delve in social media accounts and the past,… Often they hit paydirt and they can find the culprits and offer justice to the victims. Their hard work has helped the family to get closure.

Sometimes though, no matter how much effort the investigators invest, a very hot case suddenly turns into an ice cold one when they arrive at a dead end. At first a whole army of uniforms were working around the clock. After a while, some of them are put on different cases and finally, the file is classified as unsolvable.

Years go by and different officers are called to different cases. The cold cases often forgotten in a dusty corner of a filing cabinet.

But it seems like there is someone who feels like it’s time to stir everything up again. Who are they and why now? What do they know about the case?

Gina is though, but she is vulnerable too. She has been through the wringer more than once and maybe that makes her even more determined. On the other hand a lot of situations take her back to those in her own life and she is touched by them deeply. They even maker her physically sick and she relives them vigorously.

Gina has a great team helping her, but she realises she has to change a few things in her life too.

A fantastic book, a fantastic series, a fantastic author. 5 stars

Thank you

This book was mind blowing to say the least. I was a tiny bit confused at first with the dual point of views as they sort of changed without any warning from chapter to chapter. So I have to admit I got the characters confused at first but once I started to get a feel for the voices of each of the characters, they were more easily recognizable. This was the first Detective Gina Harte book that I delved into and though it is part of a series, not once did I feel like I was missing out on something as the author did an amazing job of separating the story lines and making it so that the book could be read as a stand alone.

The Liar’s House was a twisty whodunnit with the prologue captivating you from the get go. When a woman goes missing years ago, no one thinks more of it until another woman, years later turns up dead. Following that, one more woman is attacked and another gets kidnapped. In the middle of this is Detective Gina Harte, a woman whose had a terrible past & who wants nothing more than to leave her past in the past but with this new case, her past gets dredged up unexpectedly & she manages to get herself a stalker along the way. With so many options as to who the killer could be, the reader is full of doubts and suspicions and when the identity of this person is finally revealed, you can’t help but feel that you’re left reeling as to why you never put the clues together.

This was for sure a great read that kept me up for two consecutive nights just wondering what the heck was going on!

Another fantastic read in the series! I enjoyed the introduction of a cold case alongside the current one and the backstory of Gina's personal life alongside the case. Plenty of twists and turns, as usual, and lots of tension. Can't wait for the next one!

This was a great well put together thoughtful mystery/suspense.

Although the subject matter has been done many times, this author along with this established Detective made it its own, in its own right.

The mystery is not only surrounding g the woman who never arrived home after attending a party it also brings out other bi stand mysteries and questions that keep the reader forever questioning what’s going on.

Really enjoyed it

Love Carla Kovach’s writing style! Gina Harte is one kick-ass lady that you really don’t want to cross! I’ve read all of this series and none of them disappoint!
Gina has a fabulous supporting cast within the book and as the series progresses it’s nice to get a glimpse into their lives too.
I do have to warn you though that they are highly addictive and almost impossible to put down! You simply need to know what happens next!
You are kept guessing all the way from beginning end, thoroughly enjoyed it!

This book is part of a series. It was very well written. I have only read this one so I will be definately reading number 1,2,3 to get the background. Lots of twists and suspects to keep your interest going. The book is told by multiple characters. If you like Angela Marsons book then you are sure to like these.

5/5 Stars! This was my first Kovach book and I really enjoyed it. I now realize I should have read them in order however this book was enjoyable on it's own. I am now going to go back and start from the beginning of the series! I felt that this novel as a stand-alone worked great and kept my attention through the twists and turns.

Detective Harte and her coworkers are called to a crime scene where they find a young mother, Jade, dead. She was on her way home from a party when she was murdered. They aren't entirely sure what kind of party at the time. The timeline and events that follow the death are incredibly easy to follow and I had no idea what was coming!

I’ve never started in the middle of a series and I attempted it recently. I obviously hadn’t met Detective Gina Harte yet since this is the fourth installment in the series and knowing how much I didn’t know, messed with my brain. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The subtle hints to previous events that create the layered characters we become so loyal to call out and are such a sign of good writing but in this case made me impatient and I bailed. Now I know not to start in the middle! I bought the first in the series in order to give Gina a genuinely fair go.

This book was so good, I can't wait to read more in the series. Omg the twist was fantastic, I always love missing person books.

The story was rather disappointing and in many ways predictable. I felt that the story dragged quite a bit.
I just couldn't really connect with any of the characters which I found disappointing. Maybe this one just wasn't my cup of tea. I will say that the end was a tad different from what I was expecting. Overall this is not a book I would recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

What a gritty and dark crime mystery!

This is a fourth book of detective Gina Harte series. I’ve read the previous books and all of them were pretty good read so I moved on to book four.

Gina starts to investigate a brutal murder case that she was killed after she joined a suspicious party. Gina found that her cruel ex-brother in law was a member of this party. She also discovered the case might connect to the mysterious disappearance of a young lady couple years before.

I recommend to read the previous books of this series as they give you the background information that you can enjoy this book more. This book contained Gina’s past and complicated romance. Hence, without the previous information, it’s difficult to understand what is going on and why. Well, I enjoyed her romance in the first book, though I’m getting bored of it a bit. I thought when I read the third one, she will move on her past someday but the shadows still cling on her. I hope she gets out of her trauma...
What I like about this book is Gina’s teammates. They are very engaging characters.

The murder is pretty brutal and lots of twists as all the ones in previous books.
In this story, Gina gets distracted a lot as there are her brutal brother-in law and a guy she met online, who started stalking her, seem to be involved in the case.

The investigation and twists are gripping but I get bit annoyed by Gina... I hope she stops hiding herself.

I marked this book as 4 stars

Thank you for Bookouture via NetGalley for a copy of this book.

D.I Gina Harte series is a little addicting! After writing this re use I’ll be moving straight on to book 5! I think this is my favourite so far!

I found The Liars House very gripping and was intrigued from the get-go. Its thrilling pace was steady throughout and also had a few twists thrown in. I love the relationship that’s developing with two of the main characters. I’ll look forward to seeing how that develops in the next book!

The Liar’s House is my first book to read by Carla Kovach. It is the fourth book in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. I must say I enjoyed the book so much that I want to read the rest of the series. It is such a psychological thriller that will leave your head spinning.
