I really try to give an honest review to all the book I read, but I am having trouble with this one. It was a good murder mystery. Good characters and good sub-plot, but I got annoyed that the main character could not cook yet spent her life savings by buying a Bed and Breakfast inn. I know that that is a small detail, but since the author spent so much time on the main character's trying to cook and failing, it got in the way of my enjoying the mystery. I like Leighann Dobbs mysteries, but I am not sure I would read any more of this series.

I'm really loving this Oyster Cove Guesthouse series, from Josie the incredibly bad at cooking guest house owner, to her mum and best friend show seem pride them selves on being amateur detectives , to the assorted people in town who are starting to become familiar to me.

Oh and I can't not mention on a list of things I love about this book, Nero and Marlowe, two of the smartest cats I've ever seen, who along with the other others in the Cove, really are the brains behind any murder investigation and give a great insight into cat thoughts and behaviours.

Watching Nero and Marlowe try to communicate key info to Josie is incredibly sweet and funny, and I'm sure that if I had my own cat, I would be wondering just what sort of a double life it was leading.

However I wasn't keen on the guests at the guesthouse this week, all from the same family, whose ancestors used to own the property. There is an ancient curse and rumours of buried treasure which leads to people starting to wonder if a ghost really can murder a living person!

The Biddeford family were horrible, loads of infighting between them and seemed like they all had it in for each other. Despite not being keen on cheese, I was very curious about their cheese sculpting business, as I had no idea such a thing even existed, nor why you would want one!!

I had even less clue than the useless town detective about who the murderer was, I just enjoyed seeing how it all would pan out. I am really enjoying this authors writing style, it drew me in, and gave me a really quick to read and highly enjoyable story. I can't wait to see who gets killed next and why!

What could beat a murder mystery, with crime busting cats?! This book was great, both funny and intriguing. I enjoyed it very much, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

In this second installment of the Oyster Cove Guesthouse series, the skeleton of the original owner is found in the wall of the house as repairs are being made. Shortly after one of his descendants is found murdered as he searches for the long rumored family treasure, could it be the rumored curse that goes along with the treasure? That’s what Josie, Nero, Marlow, and the gang plan to find out.

I liked the first entry in this series, but found this one to be far more enjoyable. Perhaps it was Nero and Marlow, but it is definitely a series that is evolving and getting stronger with each book. a purrrfect addition to your Summer reading list.

I am not writing any concrete review for this one, just few chosen quotes from the book, hope it won't be too spoilery. I admit the book was not too deep, not enough meat on the bone and mystery was easy enough to solve but I still enjoyed it greatly only because of 2 feline friends...

Sometimes one has to let others think things were one way, even when you knew the real truth. Like the fact that that Josie thought she was in control of the guesthouse simple because Millie has sold her the property, for example. Silly humans.

O how I missed these two crazies, Nero and Marlowe -

"Do you think we've been too soft on her?"

Nero thought about it for a second. There was a fine line between creating a bond with your human and spoiling them to the point where they thought they were in control. "I've been taking her seat every night in the chair she loves to sit in in the parlor. You know, the overstuffed comfy one that shows off the black hairs I shed?"

"Yeah, and I've been lying on her keyboard when she wants to type, then sticking my tail in her face when she tries to move me."

"And we've been going into the dining room when the guests are in there eating, just like she asked us not to."

Marlowe and Nero - super detectives....

"Too bad the humans will never realize the key role we played in helping them find the killer," Nero said as they trotted past tents on their was to the bait wharf.

This book was an absolute joy to read! I feel in love with Nero and Marlowe. The story is full of twists and turns and will keep you guessing. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Thank you Bookouture via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

The second in this series, I have found it to be just as delightful as the first. The antics of the cats are again quite funny with a mystery that keeps you guessing. A wonderful cozy mystery that is quite a tale (tail)!

I had not come across The Oyster Cove Guesthouse series previously, though I had come across other novels by Leighann Dobbs. This book was quite different in how it flipped between cat and human perspective. So if you want a cozy mystery with quirk, this is definitely the book for you.

A Whisker in the Dark is Book 2 in the Oyster Cove Guesthouse Cozy Mystery Series.

I loved that the story line was about a 300 year old mystery intertwined with a current mystery. There is a treasure map, cheese sculpting, and lots of suspects. Lets not forget the beautiful coastal setting of Oyster Cove and not to mention a the town's 250 year celebration festival.

I LOVE this new series!!!!! I am a huge cat lover and I love that the cats have dialogue with each other. Marlowe and Nero and their little street gang of pawsome detectives make this book truly loveable and such a joy to read. The author knows her cats and describes them perfectly in appearance and language.

The main character, Josie, is relatable, likeable, and fun. All of the secondary characters are anything but secondary because they each bring so much to the story and the mystery.

The story is an extremely well written mystery with humans and cats both on the search for the killer.
The author crafts a mystery with twists and turns that leave the reader guessing until the end.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

A Whisker in the Dark (2nd in The Oyster Cove Guesthouse Series), by Leighann Dobbs is fast paced read that is even better then its predecessor. I loved the first, A Twist in the Tail, but the continued development of the characters and the complexity of the murder/mystery was even better in this installment.
I love Josie, her Mom, Millie, Flora, Seth, and Mike. They are down to earth, like-able, sarcastic when needed, and humorous. I love Nero, Marlowe, and the feline gang and felt there was a better balance between the human and feline characters in this novel (I love, love the cats but I really love reading the interactions with the characters even more). I enjoyed the double-layered mystery with the finding of Jedediah and also the buried treasure aspect in addition to the murder mystery as well. I was not able to guess the culprit ahead of time, which is a major compliment.

I love this series and am very excited to read more. I look forward to seeing how the characters continue to interact and are developed in the future installments.

Everyone starts digging, including his descendants who are visiting The Oyster Cove B&B. When one of the siblings found dead in the pond, his head bashed in by a shovel, and the old maid is accused of murdering him, Josie, her mom and her friend Millie start investigating. The cats Nero and Marlowe are there to lend a hand (or a paw) to make sure the murderer is found. Will Millie find out who the culprit is before she becomes the next victim?

A whisker in the Dark is a cute mystery with great characters. The storyline is interesting and entertaining. The book will keep you entertained till the last page.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite series! I love that you gain clues not only from Josie and her human friends but also Nero, Marlowe and the cat posse! The Author seems to have a real understanding of cat behavior , they do own us and not the other way around! Not only are the characters (human and feline) awesome the mystery was complex and I didn’t figure out who-done-it until it was revealed. After a skeleton is found in a wall under renovation, rumors of treasure lead inn guests and villagers alike to start digging on Josie’s land. It’s all fun and games until someone turns up dead.

I received this ARC via Netgalley and Bookouture in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed returning to the Oyster Cove Guesthouse and Josie, Nero and Marlowe's adventures. It sounds like a great B&B (well, except for the odd murder here and there, and Josie's not great baking skills!). This story is well told and the 'who dun it' isn't obvious. Ms. Dobbs continues to do a strong story with lots of possible murderers and motives. The supporting cast returns, including Nero and Marlowe's fellow feline sleuths. Collectively, they point the oblivious humans to the clues to solve everything! While not revealing too much, Josie's second big booking of a dysfunctional family as the B&B guests results in a murder. Coupled with the discovery of skeletal remains in the wall of the dilapidated ballroom wall, Josie has much to keep her busy at the B&B. Handsome Mike makes a return, as well as Josie's Mom and Millie, the former owner of the Oyster Bay B&B. It's a fun read and one you'll enjoy. No sex or foul language :). I'm so glad that Josie finally (finally) gets a baking recipe right and hope her kitchen skills continue to grow.

I ready the first book in this series, after a slow rainy day at work and did the same with this one which lighten my mood just as much as the first. What else can these fun, quirky characters and cats get up to? We're about to find out in this one with a 300 year old mystery combined with a modern one, a treasure map, cheese sculpting, and lots of chaos to keep you guessing with a beautiful setting as the background. Can't wait for the next adventure with this crew!

I am in book " love" with this series! Something about Nero and Marlowe (and the other feline detectives) makes me grin just thinking about these books! The main human character, Josie, is relatable and fun. I loved the Mystic Notch series, by the same author, and wasn't sure how this would compare, however it has "charmed me"! Millie, Rose, Seth and all the quirky townspeople make the mystery entertaining, funny and cozy!

When a dysfunctional cheese sculpting family business takes over the guesthouse for a family meeting, , chaos and murder gear up. The cats and their human counterparts are determined justice will be served - along with possibly discovering the treasure a hidden map has revealed. Problem is the skeleton that is found in a guesthouse wall, with the old map, is a victim of murder and is around 300 years old. However, when a greedy family member is found dead after a night of treasure hunting, the mystery takes a modern turn.

I enjoyed the well written mystery, witty human and feline dialogue (oh, does Ms. Dobbs know cats!), the beautiful seaside setting and lovely descriptions of the guesthouse. Makes me want to pack up and visit!

I can't wait for the next adventure with the crew!
