Five out of five stars for The Divorce by Victoria Jenkins!

This title was a great read - if the book looks good to you from the description, go for it!!! I was captivated until the very last page!

Things are not always as they seem. The story of Josh and Lydia Green seemed rather normal at first. However, as Karen continued to delve into their marriage during the counseling sessions, it became apparent that there was more to their story. There are many twists and turns in this book. However, you do now become aware of how intriguing it is until almost the very end. The character development is significant and plays a huge part in moving the story along. Secrets have a way of coming out, and the secret contained within this story will likely catch you by surprise. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

A slow read, with characters that are hard to relate to. I like my mysteries to start out fast and stay that way, and this one is definitely not that kind.

I received The Divorce by Victoria Jenkin as an ARC from NetGalley. This book was not what I had expected. Karen is a marriage counselor who is counseling Josh & Lydia. While counseling them she starts having flashbacks to her abusive first marriage. There were a lot of surprises in the book and I wasn't expecting the ending.

An enjoyable read. A little slow in places, but intriguing kept my interest till the end. Recommended.

The Divorce by Victoria Jenkins is a slow burn psychological thriller narrated by different POV’s . The first half was a little slow but the tension picked up midway and made it an interesting read for me

I wanted to like this novel but I just wasn't that engaged with the characters and guessed some of the twists. The pacing was a bit off also and I found it hard to follow at times as the author jumped about a bit. A good premise though and a lot of tension

Short and easy read! Some chapters were long which is something I struggle with since I can’t seem to stop in the middle of a chapter. I think for this being Jenkin’s first psychothriller she did a good job!

I loved the story and the plot
The book was well written. The characters were well rounded and easy to relate to and follow.
My negative comment would be that the ending was complicated

There is nothing more frightening than someone who has nothing left to lose; no one to be feared more greatly than a person who has nothing standing in their way.
A solid psychological thriller by another great Bookouture author!
"The Divorce" starts out fast paced and never had a slow part! Each character has a mysterious side that needs figuring out. You'll spend about 75% of the book thinking you know, but the twist will definitely take you by surprise.
Victoria Jenkins definitely proves that a twisty plot doesn't have to have tons of characters and multiple layers that can sometimes add confusion. This book was written with a slowly building yet intense plot twist that was extremely well written.
Highly recommend!

Psychological thriller with domestic drama that leaves a relationship counsellor reeling when she attempts to help a married couple whose situation reminds her just a bit too much of her own past.

What it's about: Karen Fisher, a 56-year-old widow, is a psychotherapist whose specialty is marriage counseling. Her newest clients, Josh and Lydia Green have been married for 14 years and have two young children. As the couple returns in repeat sessions, Karen starts to feel a vibe that indicates that Lydia may be in danger. As her concern mounts, Karen elicits more revelations from the two and she is unconvinced that she can save the marriage. She's reluctant to make any suggestions and is starting to wonder if they are telling her the truth. NO SPOILERS.

Why you should read it: The narrative shifts between the 3 voices of Karen, Josh and Lydia. As might be expected, each has a different perspective and take-away from the sessions. Karen is also dealing with her own personal issues and bad memories and the reader senses that she's attuned to what might be going on in the Green's marriage that may mirror her own experience. The reader is well aware that something isn't quite right and the anticipation of finding out the big reveal creates some good tension. If you're a fan of this genre -- the unreliable narrator, secrets, lies, revenge -- then this is the story for you.

I've read the police procedural series by this author and liked those books but this is a departure for Victoria Jenkins writing a psychological thriller. Personally I prefer a police procedural to bad marriage stories, but that's just me! More science, less emotional drama. I'd give this a solid 3.5 stars though.

An avarage read for me, a little slow in places, especially second half, and I thought the ending was weak.

I could not put down this book. It was so interesting and the writing was great. I will definitely be recommending this to customers at my work!

Karen is a therapist and Lydia and Josh are a couple seeking her help.
But something just doesn't seem right or normal about their story and relationship. Actually it's quite disturbing. It also brings up thoughts and incidents from Karen's past!
Just what is going on? And it's also very frightening!!

Unfortunately, for me , this book turned out to be a different one from that I had expected from the description given.
I enjoyed the first half of the book, and the storyline being told from three different points of view, but I felt it dragged .I had hoped that the ending would compensate for this , but for me it didn’t!
Perhaps it’s because I’ve read so much better psychological thrillers recently but sadly I wasn’t surprised or thrilled by this book.

The Divorce – Victoria Jenkins

This is my first Victoria Jenkins book but I’m almost certain that it won’t be my last now that I’ve discovered that she has written a British police procedural series. The Divorce was a little bit of a slow burn but once it got going it was a goody. I do enjoy her writing style although I would prefer slightly shorter chapters the ones that encourage that just one more chapter demon inside me.

The two main plots revolve around Domestic Violence and Marriage Guidance these are important topics to write about sensitively without having made sure that some research has been done and it shows in this book. With episodes of Domestic Violence on the increase all over the country according to the statistics much more needs to be done about it. Sorry I’ll get off my soapbox before I get started properly.

Married couple Josh and Lydia are having problems so turn to Marriage Guidance counsellor Karen for help with their troubled marriage. It seems as if they married young with children quick to follow and now as adults their lives have drifted apart. Being a stay at home mum means that Lydia feels acutely lonely and Josh is seemingly working longer and longer hours at the hospital. It is the work he does alongside the hours he puts in that gives Lydia the luxury of not having to work I think it might have helped her if she did a few hours just for pin money.

While seeing the couple Karen begins to experience problems and flashbacks from her own previous experiences. I did feel that once or twice she took some silly risks and did one or two things that weren’t strictly professional.

In all honesty I didn’t really like the characters, I found that they grated on my nerve endings but in all honesty think that the author wrote them that way deliberately. I can't really go in to too much details about them without spoiling the book so I will just leave my opinions there

I’d definitely recommend this to my bookworm friends as it’s something slightly different for them, in a good way

This was so different than I was expecting!! I feel like it was a bit confusing - I understood the plot but I don't think there was enough build up to the reveal. I had to push through the last few chapters but overall this novel had great writing and a new premise!

Excellent read. Hard to put the book down. Right from the start you were sucked in and new this was going to be a good one. The storyline was wicked. Not quite knowing where it was going next. There was lots of twists and turns in the road.

I thought this book was good, but it wasn't really as suspenseful as I thought it would be. I enjoyed it though and would recommend it.

The book gets right into it and grips you right to the end. Based on a couple in crisis attending marriage counseling, but is all what it seems. It appears the the couple have a secret and so does the therapist. Brilliant
