For me , started slowly but builds in tension as the story progresses. The characters were ok although I didn’t take to Josh at all.
I for one didn’t see the twist coming at the end.
Overall an enjoyable read.

A slow-burning, gripping psychological thriller with a unique set of characters and storyline. I believe it's Jenkins's first foray into this genre, but she writes like a pro. Fascinating characters with a different, intriguing twist.

The plot blurb intrigued me to request this, but I was sadly so bored reading this that I couldn't wait to finish it. I do know that marriage counseling will not be in my future ever.

I really enjoyed the plot. Was very hard to put down.

I eventually liked this book...but the first 30-40% definitely drug on and were somewhat boring. Once I made it through the first part, the pace picked up and I enjoyed finishing it. I liked the writing style, just feel like parts could have been shortened and less detailed. However, I still give it 3.5 stars because I did enjoy the second part and ending.

This is the first book I've read by Victoria Jenkins. This is her first psychological thriller she's written and I thought she did a really good job.

Karen is a marriage counselor. She is still struggling with the loss of her husband but wants to keep busy by taking on new clients. Josh and Lydia come to her needing help with their marriage. There are talks about abuse, control, infidelity, as well as other subjects during their sessions. However, people can deceive others and show you what they want you to see about them. This book kept me guessing for quite a while. The various twists and turns had me surprised right until the end. The ending seemed a bit rushed, but I still liked it.

In my opinion, this is the type of book you can consider to be a "wild ride". I had no idea what was going to happen, who the heck these people were, or why anything was going on. And it was such a treat!

The Divorce is told in three perspectives from a couple, and their therapist. I enjoyed every moment.

Pros: Fast paced, interesting characters, not too long of a read

Cons: You may find yourself getting angry with a character or two

Once I started reading this book, I found it impossible to leave down, the story was gripping from the start and it keeps you guessing to the end. It's my first time reading anything by this author and I will be back again to read more. I would like to thank the publishers and netgalley for letting me have the book to review and the opinions expressed are entirely my own views and are completely unbiased.

Josh and Lydia Green. A doctor, and a stay-at-home mother. They met at a party, which led to a dinner, which led to a happy and comfortable life together. They married young, and had children earlier than planned. They have their moments, of course – who doesn’t? With Josh working longer hours in the hospital, and Lydia feeling increasingly isolated at home, the strain is starting to show. They don’t talk as much as they used to. Not every wife is as scared as Lydia. Not every husband is hiding as much as Josh. Not everything you think about them is true.

So this book just does not work, I can see what Jenkins is trying to do but the execution is poor. This is written from the perspectives of Josh, Lydia and Karen; their counsellor, the chapters are very long in this, extremely long, too long, in my opinion, with each chapter told from one of their perspectives. Now this would be okay except Jenkins muddles up threads and blurs the lines, a thread will be explored and then suddenly Jenkins switches to the past or to a character reminiscing, it really breaks up the flow of the read, I found this stunted and if I am honest, a tangled, bizarre mess.

Writing style aside, the plot is okay, Jenkins builds the tension extremely slowly throughout this read, and I could feel that something dramatic was going to happen and of course, Jenkins was building to a dramatic climax. Well, the tension kept building but the big dramatic finale? Never really happened. The book felt like a big disappointment, I felt that I was promised excitement, twists and shocks but this was not delivered, I felt like I had been promised this incredibly dramatic finish and instead got a damp squib.

We do not have many characters in this read which does help create an atmosphere of claustrophobia which I enjoyed, however we never really learn a great deal about the characters. I can see why, as it enables a greater sense of mystery regarding the plot but I needed something a bit more to keep me interested and connected with the characters. This is a running though for the whole book, I needed something more to keep me interested.

'The Divorce' is a disappointing read that promised a great deal and delivered very little. The tension throughout is good but that is about the only thing that is.

Wow. This book was sooooo boring. Thank god it was short because otherwise, it would have been a DNF. For the first 50-60%, we are basically being subjected to therapy sessions between a therapist and a married couple who are having issues that are not particularly interesting. The therapist is also getting threatening emails between sessions. Then we get to the bottom of what is going on with the couple and the therapist and it is underwhelming to say the least.

I hate giving bad reviews and barely ever give a 1 or 2 star, but there was nothing to this book. It reminded me of The Silent Wife, another book I absolutely hated, because I was bored stiff throughout. Also, this book is nothing like Gone Girl, The Woman In the Window or The Wife Between Us as indicated by the blurb. How do they even come up with these comparisons?!

I enjoyed this book. With Lucy believing her father's death on the marriage counsellor,he was able to hide his narcissist behaviour. Which ended in tragedy. Trying to 're enact their parents problems as their own just shows Lucy took after her father. A very good read.

Not sure what to say about this book only that it didn't 'grab' me, I found it a bit of a toil to read and I didn't like the characters.

The Divorce for me starts slowly.

But I persevered am I glad I did.

I found the story intriguing from the beginning and the end brought it all together and then some.

Others may not find it starts slow so do give The Divorce a read.

The Divorce was 2.5-2.75 stars, I rounded up to 3. I really hate to give poor reviews but this book just never took off. I think I may have been the wrong reader for this book as I do sessions with people and couples and see and hear all kinds of things so reading session after session was rather monotonous.

I felt like the sessions gave accurate descriptions and there were strong quotes and valuable information given throughout but it just lacked any thrill factor for me.

I wanted to love this book but I really just had a hard time connecting to the characters and story line.

The Divorce is a brilliant psychological thriller that hade gripped, it was a very enjoyable read with a great twist.

I really didn't like this book. I found it boring and tedious. There was nothing intriguing or exciting about the book. Even the ending with the "twist" had me rolling my eyes. I can't recommend this one.

This was a good book, but I felt it could have been a little stronger... the premise is very unique and good but there was a lot of dialog that wasn’t entirely necessary. I think the characters were okay, and the ideas behind the book were a little dark, but there were moments where I lost a little interest.

I have read the book in 3 hours. It was catchy, mind taking and well written. Even thought he action was placed in one house only over short period of time, it was really quick and interesting. I loved the book. It made me think about the different mental challenges (anger, personality disorder etc) people live with
