How lovely to take a walk down Coronation Street, with some of our best loved characters, when they were young and just starting out. I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming tale which set the scene on characters we’ve grown up with over the years.
Totally enjoyable and a must for all fans of Coronation Street.

I read the first two Coronation Street books and really enjoyed them so I was excited to receive an advance copy of Snow on the Cobbles. This book did not disappoint and was a joy to read. In this book we pick up in 1945 as the war is nearing its end. We’re introduced to Lizzie and her family and Hilda Ogden makes her debut. As always the book is full of trials/tribulations and laughs.

This is not a book of great literary work but one which makes a lovely winter evening read. I have never seen Coronation Street but obviously have picked up bits of storylines over the years and can imagine how well this tale fits in with the series.

If you love Corrors then you will love this, if like me you haven’t seen it for years you will still love it!

The book is based at the end of the Second World War and focuses mainly on Hilda Ogden and her new friend Lizzie and has a good helping of Annie Walker, Elsie Tanner, Ena Sharples and smaller roles for Minnie Cauldwell and Albert Tatlock and Stan Ogden and even a small mention for Ken Barlow
Its fab to read the details of what they get up to and what probably would be mundane day to day carryings on isn’t as Hilda goes cleaning, Annie disdainfully sniffs her way through a day at the Rovers and Elsie entertains GI men 24/7!
There’s a wonderful street party where Ena plays hymns on her piano and everyone gets food poisoning from the knocked off pork pies 😃😃The parts where Hilda ( in her curlers ) goes from Rosamund Street to Coronation Street gossiping to everyone is wonderful and her excitement at Stan coming home from a POW in Italy is touching
You cant help but picture them all, it happens as soon as you see their names and yea ok the book isn’t a literary classic but its a great read for memories and feel good factors
There is a very interesting bio at the end of Jean Alexander and her life and the episode where she left Corrors is the most watched episode ever
For what this book sets out to achieve it succeeds and for that it has to be a
10/10

Lizzie and her mother move into 9, Coronation Street just after the end of World War II. Their new neighbour, feisty Elsie Tanner tells them that the house is supposed to have bad luck. Lizzie gets a job in the Pride of Weatherfield. Lizzie then meets a then young Hilda Ogden. Hilda is patiently waiting for her husband, Stan to return from a prisoner of war camp. Will life ever be the same on the street again?

I did not k ow that this was the third book in the Coronation Street series. It ca be read as a standalone, but I will always tell you to read a series in the order they were written in. I'm a fan of the tv series so i was pleased when I received an ARC of this book. I loved Hilda and Stan Ogden when they were in the programme and i lo bed them in the book. I felt like I have read the next few weeks scripts. The story is full of secrets and surprises. I liked that there were a few original characters in the story even though they were uch younger. A ook to curl yourself up by the fire.

I would like to thank NetGalley, HarperCollins UK HarperFiction and the author Maggie Sullivan for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
