This is an encouraging little book that aims to help you feel better about yourself and find happiness. The author encourages actions like journaling (some specific lists and themes are given), getting rid of toxic people and reframing the way you look at things, among other strategies. There's a fair bit of cussing, but in an encouraging sort of way (saying f*cking this or that to show emphasis, saying things like "take an ax to that b*tch" about metaphorical doors that haven't opened, etc.). The author comes from a background of a really dysfunctional childhood and dating violence plus she has 5 kids, so she has some credibility in saying her methods work despite chaos and baggage. That said, some readers such as sexual abuse survivors may take issue with her push for forgiveness and her repeated statements along the lines of you choose to be a victim, everything bad can be a blessing or lesson to serve you, everybody has bad things that they deal with so stop making excuses, etc. I can see a lot of the wisdom in what she says now, but I remember people saying similar things when I was dealing with repeated miscarriages, deaths of loved ones and sexual violence when I was younger and those messages just added to my pain. This book is better suited to readers who are dealing with chaos and/or feeling down about themselves and stuck in life who are looking for a supersized pep talk. Reed is good at being encouraging and has lots of motivational sayings that can inspire positive change and belief in yourself. She's an effective cheerleader if you're looking for a push in a great new direction.

This is a powerful little book of practical ideas and suggestions and challenges to create more space, love, and joy in our lives. I found all of her suggestions extremely doable, and some are more challenging than others… But that’s the point! I appreciate this author’s Wisdom as she shared solid advice and suggestions for letting go of regret, forgiving, and so much more… If we all follow her lead, we will all have simpler, clearer, and happier lives.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
