Animal lovers will enjoy these stories. Everyone who's bee friends with a animal will relate to these tales (based on true stories of the authors'). Animal companions, both domesticated and wild, are such a gift. I think all ages will benefit, and enjoy reading these stories!

These are great animal stories which students will enjoy. I especially liked reading about Chicka, since I knew a rooster who thought he was human. Now I want more pets...!

The importance and the positive contribution that pets can play in a child's life is wonderfully depicted in this charming story based on real life events written by Nina Loeffel and Rachel Larson and with Oleksandr Pitura providing the delightful illustrations. Each of the animals have their own backstory, character and relationship that they develop with the children.

Among the animals is Chicka the chicken who owing to her birth believes she is human and is shun by the other chickens and Hazel the squirrel who's mother may have been shot by one of the boys. The delightful stories will teach children to appreciate and respect the animals around them and most importantly they will understand that death is part of nature. Recommended for old and young a most endearing read.,
