As the synopsis states, this prequel to the Highland Healer Series takes readers back in time, to the beginning of the line of healers from whom Caitlin—the fiery, determined protagonist at the heart of the series—has come. Who were these people? Where did they come from? And most importantly, who was this grandmother, Ci-Cero, that is spoken of in the series? What was so special about her? Does Caitlin possess some of her traits, her character, or her abilities? How is it that Caitlin finds herself in Scotland?

Quite interesting.

This is the first book I've read in this series, but it really wasn't for me. I tried several times to read this book and could just never get very far into the story before calling it quits and moving on to something else. There wasn't anything wrong with this book per se, but I think this is just a genre that I've grown bored with.

I received a free ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

The Wolf, The Wizard, and The Woa is the first book by Florence Love Karsner that I have read. It is a prequel for her Highland Healer series. I loved this story. Well written and engaging. I now need to read her Highland Healer stories to learn even more. The characters are well developed, and like you and I have both their strengths and weaknesses. You are drawn into the story and feel as if you are there with them. I look forward to reading more by this author.

I really enjoyed the Highland Healer series and this is a great and surprisingly poignant sequel. It actually put me a little in mind of Julliet Marillier’s work – high praise from me since she is a favourite of mine. Ci-Cero is a great character and her journey is rich and satisfying. Highly recommend.

A family travels by ship on a long journey to find a new home to live. Why? Sadly, people including Ci-Cero’s mother be comes ill. Most of those who become ill die. Ci-Cero’s father takes her from the ship to land that is found. He leaves her with the wolf and tells her she is special. The wolf will protect her as well as the goddess. He says also that she will discover someone to help her on her journey, teach her what she needs to know. Will she survive? Will she find someone to help her?

This book is a prequel. I haven’t read the series so I think this was a great introduction to a series I need to read now. I was so involved with Ci-Cero and her journey that I never wanted to stop reading it! I loved the novel and didn’t want it to end. I will be reading the series as soon as I can. The journey of Ci-Cero and her wolf was amazing. I loved how the wizard trained her.

The author creates vivid word pictures that drive the plot in the mind of the reader. The characters are well-rounded, being neither too good nor too evil. The motives of the players are realistic for the time and place in which they function.

Wow! I loved it!
A brilliant fantasy, a great read for those who already love the genre and newcomers alike
I loved the historical additions to the plot and liked the native American style magic and culture immensely. I was completely immersed in this book from beginning to end and enjoyed it so much that I immediately bought and read all the others in the series.
The characters were very interesting and fresh feeling, while still in keeping with a classic fantasy. They were well thought out with plenty of depth and enough background to make them easy to understand.
Lots of elements in this book, all of which weave beautifully into an entirely pleasing whole.
Great story, easy to read and well written, definitely an addition to my bookshelf!

An interesting preview to a series I am not familiar with.
However, whilst I liked the Native American Lore and the mix with some Viking theology, the actual 'magic' element seemed rather thin.
Yes, there was a wizard - one must suppose that as he turned out to be white skinned with blue eyes, tat he was in fact a Druid. Which didn't fit with all the other theologies.
I did wonder if it was aimed at a YA audience, but it seems not, which surprised me, as the level of knowledge seemed at this level.
In the end, I found it a little disappointing. Too many pantheons and theologies mixed up together.
