I haven’t read any of the authors previous books The girlfriend or The temp so I had nothing to compare this one too , I did enjoy this book , The book flicks between past and present which I love in books. On occasion I did find it a little slow in places but overall it was a good read. The premise of the story was interesting and the story kept my interest throughout. After debating for a while I did figure it out before the end , but this didn’t put me off . The only thing that I wasn’t keen on was the cover , I felt it didn’t match the story .my score is 3.5

I did enjoy reading this psychological thriller with the main character seeking out the truth about her daughter’s death. A strong eco message within it all and flicking backwards and forwards between the two characters keeps the plot moving albeit a little slow at times. Not one I immersed myself in so took me a while to finish it but a satisfying conclusion. I must try her earlier books.

I found this really refreshing and uplifting because the truth is that activists and changemakers really are just people who care enough to do something about it. "The Daughter" shows us that you don't need to be well-educated or wealthy. All it takes is motivation and tenacity. Anyone can change the world. I wish more people would try. This is not at all what I expected to be taking from this book when I first started it. I'm so glad I read it.

An enjoyable read with a serious message - I wasn't sure about this one when I started as it was obvious where it was going but that was revealed quite early on anyway and it developed into an interesting story with a build up of tension towards the end and a satisfying conclusion. Recommended.

I really loved this book. I loved the first book from Michelle too, and this one did not give me any dissapointment.
Kate and her daughter Becky has a special bond and when Becky dies in an accident everything changes for Kate. The way the story tells about their relationship and jumps in the past and the present is smooth and straight. No confusing elements there. I thought in the beggining Kate's boyfriend Tim will be involved in the whole chaos and he will come out as a negative character because he looked too perfect... Goood that did not happen though.

In conclusion I loved this book just as I loved the first book and it is same well written with a lot of twist and turn.
I just reccomend it to everyone

A gripping story as Michelle's two previous books have been. I did think the ending was a bit rushed, and the book cover confused me. . In spite of those criticisms, I loved it and this book is worth more than the five stars that I can give. Highly recommended

When Kates daughter Becky dies in a horrific Road Traffic accident, Kate believes that the company’s van lacks a safety feature. But what if Becky’s accident was not what it seemed? And Kate finds herself investigating something far more sinister?

I thought I would really enjoy this book, and for the first half of it my thinking was correct.
However, by the time I got past the middle of the book and I couldn’t help feeling that it was a bit rushed to get to the end.

This is a pity as Kate was a fantastic character but for me there were to many plot holes, far fetched coincidences, and the ending was far to convenient and quick for me. I also didn’t understand the photo on the cover which seemed to have very little bearing on the plot.

All in all though, despite this it’s a good 3 stars, not a definite recommend, but its worth reading.

I enjoyed Michelle Frances ‘s previous books but was very disappointed with this one. After liking the cover of the book I realised later that it had nothing to do with the story. I only got halfway through the book when I gave up, which doesn’t happen very often. Sorry, just wasn’t the read for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I was a little disappointed with this book and found myself skimming some of the pages. The storyline was good and I really felt for Kate at losing her daughter Becky. I understood the need to find out why she died, following the story she was writing. But then some parts of the plot were too far fetched.

Other parts it felt it was bulked out a little bit with things that didn’t need to be in there.

Overall a good book just not as good as previous books by this author.

Thank you netgalley and Pan for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

I really enjoyed this book. Lots of interesting characters- including some horrid baddies! The story itself is intriguing and highlights some of the very real issues of chemical misuse. A heartbreaking tale but told in a positive way. This story would make a great movie.

I enjoyed this story immensely. I felt strongly for the characters, and although parts of it felt unbelievable at times I stuck with it and had a thoroughly good read.

A well plotted, current book which has you on the edge of your seat championing Kate as she takes on a Herculean task. I had my theories about some of the characters - some of which were correct and others were so wide of the mark that it is a testament to skilful writing that took me down that path. A really enjoyable book.

After reading 'The Girlfriend' and 'The Temp' I was really looking forward to reading this book, "The Daughter."

It was a highly addictive and entertaining read from beginning to end. I thought the plot was so cleverly executed and I really enjoyed getting to know each of the characters and seeing how their stories developed throughout. I loved that the story was told from the two different viewpoints, switching perspectives between mother and daughter, Kate and Becky, giving me just enough flashback information to fill in the gaps as I learned more of events in the present day.

There were plenty of twists and turns that were a complete surprise to me and the clever combination of the taught plot, neat writing and high stakes kept me reading well into the night.

I am really taken with Michelle Frances' books and she is a firm favourite of mine.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my own request, from Pan Macmillan via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

I loved this unputdownable book!
It was a thrilling, unnerving read. The characters were realistic. The plot was gripping and fast-paced. I actually forgot i was on my treadmill while reading! Run, do not walk, out to get this fab book.
Thank you NetGalley.

Sometimes it’s the people you least expect who cause the most upset.
Our main character, Kate, fell pregnant while still at school and having a child at fifteen meant certain aspects of her life didn’t quite go as she’d expected. When the story begins we’re seeing adult Kate about to introduce her graduate daughter, Becky, to a new boyfriend.
Very early on we’re told Becky is a trainee journalist, trying to investigate something she feels is a big news story. On the night she’s meant to meet mum’s boyfriend, Becky is killed.
We suspect the two events are connected, but the book focuses on Kate’s efforts to prove this. Before we know it we’re into major intrigue and highly suspicious behaviour.
The narrative is interspersed with past stories and events to flesh out the characters and help give us clues about what’s going on.
I was unsure about quite where this was going, and the storyline involving neighbour Iris and her holiday romance (which just happened to sort things out) was a bit far-fetched. However, Kate as a character was someone you couldn’t help warm to and knowing how her search resolved itself became something I was very keen to know.
Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read this prior to publication, and I definitely think I’ll get round to reading The Girlfriend which has been a book I intended to read and haven’t got round to yet.

I have previously read the girlfriend and the temp by Michelle Frances and I absolutely loved them both. I was really looking forward to reading this one

This book did not disappoint from her previous two.

This book is full of twists and turns and I was gripped from the very first page.

I think that this book would be an amazing tv series/ drama.

I cannot rave about this book enough and I cannot wait for Michelle's next book.

Easily a 5 star read.

I was sent a copy of this book from the publishers via NetGalley. Thank here is my honest independent review.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Girlfriend by this author and was really thrilled to read this.
I find her writing style so easy to get into, the plot flows smoothly and there are a few twists and turns.
The Mother Kate and her daughter Becky are well written characters and I felt the determination that Kate has to find her daughters story.
This doesn't offer anything new in way of plot, however this authors style just makes it a thrilling enjoyable ride.

Thank you to Netgalley for kindly sending me a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

I requested to read this book based on the fact that I enjoyed this authors previous two books. I wasn’t sure what to expect seeing that I didn’t pre the read the blurb however it wasn’t what I expected based solely on the cover. It was a quick paced thriller full of suspense, twists and turns and secrets. I was hooked from start to finish. If half stars existed this would be a 3.5. If was enjoyable however a few things were far fetched and the whole thing about pesticides being dangerous featured heavily throughout the story. I know this was the whole point but it’s not something that I have a great interest or knowledge in and in parts I got a little bored when it was continuously mentioned. All in all a great read, quite unique and fresh in its content and one I would recommend. .

Really enjoyed the previous books by this author so was looking forward to this one. Unfortunately it failed to hit the mark. The twists were too obvious and I couldn’t relate to or sympathise with any of the characters. An easy read.
