Really enjoyed this book and the characters. They were the right mix of unrealistic in finding love and realistic in having issues in their lives.

I'm a fan of Erica Ridley, and her books are usually 3/4 star territory for me, but One Night to Remember didn't quite get there.

I'm pretty open to, shall we say flexibility, in my historical romance. I'm not one who is a stickler for historical accuracy, and I'm very go with the flow about most things. However, One Night to Remember really had me scratching my head. A sister of a duke who moonlights as a blacksmith... um, okay? I might have been just fine with that if the romance was phenomenal, but it was very lackluster for me.

Erica Ridley's books never have any heat, but her best ones have insane chemistry. This one didn't. I just never felt the pull between the two MCs, and I had a hard time buying their romance. The lack of heat didn't help, but it was really the dialogue and that something that was missing that made the romance fall flat for me.

I know Erica Ridley can do better than this one, and though I can see that most of my fellow readers enjoyed this, I wanted something more.

Good Story. I liked that Giles was not a typical hero of the era. I expect coachbuilders who made the curricles were very wealthy and well respected and it was great that Felix/Felicity was an engineer! I felt a bit sorry for the rejected suitor but perhaps his book is in the pipe line.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own and I would heartily recommend this book.

One Night to Remember was another excellent installment in the Wicked Dukes Club series.

Giles Langford, known as the Curricle King for his racing abilities, is more than willing to race for the Duke of Colehaven when asked. When Colehaven mentions he has his own mechanic he wants Giles to work with, Giles thinks nothing of it until he discovers the mechanic in question is Colehaven’s sister Felicity. Felicity never feels more like herself than when she’s working in a forge but having experienced poverty firsthand, she is willing to give it up to marry a wealthy suitor. But first she is determined to see Colehaven’s curricle win in the upcoming race meaning she will have to work closely with Giles, a man who intrigues her more than any she’s met before.

At first glance one would think Felicity was shallow due to her desire to marry a wealthy man, but upon learning her reasons why it becomes clear that is anything but the case. Prior to her brother inheriting, Felicity and Cole were extremely poor which is something Felicity never wants to experience again. But more than that, Felicity is determined to help other children in circumstances similar to her own which I thought was a very admirable pursuit.

Giles has known his entire life that he wanted to be a carriage smith having grown up learning at his father’s side. After his father becomes ill, Giles is forced to take over the family business long before he is ready to do so. But through his hard work and determination, plus his racing abilities, Giles has grown the business to become one of the best in the city.

Felicity and Giles work well together professionally which only enhances their personal relationship in my opinion. Giles doesn’t think less of Felicity, or her abilities, because she’s a woman and in fact he quickly comes to realize just how talented she is. I loved that Giles encouraged her and how Felicity was able to be her true self when she was with Giles. Their conversations are full of banter and I loved the scenes where the two worked together in Giles’ shop. The chemistry between them is simply fantastic and when their relationship progresses physically it is very well done.

Overall I really enjoyed One Night to Remember and I’m looking forward to reading the final book in the series soon. I highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a series of quick historical romances.

A quick fun read. Giles Langford is a Blacksmith with no title and no wealth. Felicity is the sister of a Duke and is to do what is expected of a lady who is to marry well in the ton. That all sounds well and nice, but Felicity is a firecracker of a girl who has her own mind and does what she wants.

Felicity works on her brother's curricle, in secret, keeping it in tip top shape. The Duke of Colehaven, Felicity's brother, hires Giles to assist in getting his curricle in top form for an upcoming race, but he also tells him that Felicity will be his partner in the endeavor. At first Giles isn't pleased until being without her is worst than being around her.

I laughed with this one. The banter between Giles and Lord Felix (Felicity in disguise) was great. Felicity found a man, not from the ton, to love and accept her. I was pleasantly surprised how much love and support Cole offered to his sister. Felicity was always afraid of letting him down. Her brother came through for her in the end.

That wicked man (I forget his name) who cheated at the race, I wanted, for him, a duel to the death!
Read this Series. You won't be disappointed.

One Night to Remember by Erica Ridley is another fabulous read in The Wicked Dukes series. I enjoyed it even more than the other great reads in the series. The look into “technology” of the time. I love the competition between the lead characters and the love of making a faster ride. I also especially loved the fish out of water elements of the story. Highly recommended the series and especially this book!

Unusual talent!

A woman blacksmith, sister to a Duke, captures the heart of well known rogue and whip Giles Langford.
Felicity Sutton, brought up in squalor has fought her way to being a gifted blacksmith with an unbeatable knowledge of the performance of carriages. Yes, she does work in secret disguised as a lad.
What a pair these two would make! However Giles has no money and title, and Felicity's fear of poverty well experienced has decided her to only settle for a wealthy suitor of the ton.
However that was before these two has met. Now Felicity will settle for one night with Giles before marching towards a future of security with no smithing. The Sparks do fly and this is a worthy addition to the complicated lives of the members of Dukes Tavern.

This charming Regency romance is the fifth and penultimate book in the Wicked Dukes Club series by two of my favorite romance authors, Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke. While the stories interconnect, each book focuses on one couple and can be enjoyed on its own.

I have really been enjoying the characters in this series, and I appreciate that these books are populated with strong, smart female characters with agency. As in the earlier books, both of the main characters in this story are likable and fun to get to know. Some of the supporting characters are also quite charming, and the guest appearance by one of the kittens from earlier in the series made me laugh out loud.

This is a fast-paced light read with an easily resolved conflict, though it does offer a bit of suspense. I found Giles’ acceptance of Felicity absolutely heartwarming and utterly romantic. I recommend this book and the rest of the series to anyone who enjoys light historical romance or is craving a feel-good story.

Note that this book includes one scene of premarital sex, but it’s not too graphic. Other than that one scene, this is a sweet, clean read that I would feel comfortable recommending to my mother or grandmother.

I received an ARC of this book from one of the authors and volunteered to provide an honest review. The ARC I received was well written, appropriately edited, and neatly formatted.

Loved reading the fabulous and fantastic fifth book in the Wicked Dukes Club. Felicity Sutton has her goals set to marry a rich, influential man, but working with the handsome Giles Langford on her brother's racing carriage sets her goals in a disarray. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written with captivating characters, and a must read love story.

In “One Night to Remember,” author Erica Ridley continues to surprise her audience by having a working-class gent in a Regency historical fiction as the romantic hero. Curricle racing champ Giles Langford is a blacksmith by trade and has no aristocratic claims whatsoever.

Felicity Sutton might currently bear the title Lady before her name, but she had poor beginnings before her brother unexpectedly inherited Duke of Colehaven. So, truly she had more things in common with Giles Langford than most members of the haute ton.

But though Felicity and Giles find themselves falling in love, Felicity could not marry him. She needed a husband with a title and riches so that she could realize her dream of founding a charity for orphans. Hence, though snobbery was not the reason, Felicity had to choose between and Lord and not even a Mister because for all intent and purposes, Giles is just another worker who provided service for the aristocrats.

Again, like the first two books before it, “One Night to Remember” also teaches a lesson, i.e. what you are looking for might be just in front of you; only thing you have to do is take the blinders off.

I don’t want to go through the particulars of that one because if I do, there will be spoilers. Let me just say that “One Night to Remember” is Rated T for Teens because the message of this book is as much for them as it is for adults.

More and more I am seeking those authors that can provide the escape back in the day with stories that have a different flavor. This is one author I do like to see what she has to tinkle our fancy with. With this one it is even more of a good one because of the reveal of the blacksmith. Giles and Felicity entertains us with their story that gives us a bunch of elements that fit the time. Humor with the banter between them along with the romance gives us a story that we stick with to see who will succumb to what love has for them regardless on what is on their minds. Along with the humor it will also be warming to the heart with us lapping it all up.

Another book that is wonderful in the Wicked Duke series.
In this book Giles Langford is a blacksmith. He lives a comfortable life and loves working as a blacksmith. He also loves racing down rotten row.
Felicity Sutton is a member of high society. She was not always a member of high society, she was poor. She vows that she will never go back to a poverty filled life.
When she says that she will help Giles create the fastest rig for racing, he is astonished. How can a woman help him. He soon learns that she is a very valuable blacksmith and knows what she is doing.
They have to not only learn to get along, but also learn to work together.
As they do this, an attraction will grow.
Could Felicity accept poverty again? Can Giles get permission to marry a peer of the realm?
You will have to read it to find out.

A well written story the fifth book in the Wicked Dukes Club series. Giles Langford falls in love with his blacksmith Felicity Sutton but she wants nothing to do with a poor man she wants a duke. But will her heart and not her head win. I enjoyed reading this book and finding out that question. I know when this series is finished I want to read them all again. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.

One Night to Remember (Wicked Dukes Club, #5) by Erica Ridley. This is a truly unforgettable historical romance about a blacksmith and a Duke’s sister who isn’t at all what she seems. The author writes in such a whimsical way bringing the characters to life making this a highly enjoyable read. Also, the unique pairing of these two characters gives the story a down to earth feel. The writing is consistently smooth and flawless. This story can be read as a complete stand alone. If you’ve read any of this author’s Rogue’s to Riches Series, you’ll love this one too! I also recommend The Dukes of War Series by this author.

This is the fifth book in the Wicked Dukes series, but stands pretty well alone if you haven’t read any of the rest. I haven’t, and I really had no trouble following along with the action.

I really enjoy the way Erica Ridley reaches for a far-fetched premise to create a really unusual character, and then somehow makes it fit absolutely perfectly into the ‘Regency world’. In this case, Lady Felicity is the sister of a duke, and she and her brother grew up poor before he unexpectedly inherited. She went from having nothing to having everything, and she still has a wide-eyed fascination with the world around her - at one point there’s a lovely line where she says to Giles, the hero, that she doesn’t know what it’s like ‘to have some of the things’. Her life has been one of extremes.

The most unlikely thing about Felicity is the one that makes her the most appealing, because she grew up in a smithy, pretended to be a boy most of her young life, and has an aptitude for carriagemaking far beyond the ordinary. When Giles Langford, the best carriagemaker and the best racing driver in London, is asked to work with Felicity by her brother, Giles can’t help but be fascinated. Soon enough he’s falling for her, but Felicity has plans for her future, plans that involve making an advantageous marriage for the best of reasons - because she wants to set up a charity to help indigent children. It’s a cause close to Giles’ heart, as well, so no matter how he feels, he has to let Felicity go. It’s the right thing to do.

Despite the implausible premise, this works so well as a romance. Giles and Felicity have absolutely everything in common, and it’s very easy to root for them. Not only that, but the author has obviously done her research into the intricacies of carriagemaking and carriage racing, and gets the subtleties of both across without ever boring the reader. I certainly learned a lot!

This is a charming read and one I’d highly recommend if you like unusual heroines, especially those with a scientific bent. Five stars.
