Another book that I don't feel fair reviewing because it was just the wrong novel for me. I had been unaware of certain triggering events which took place within it and unfortunately some of said happenings cause me to get dizzy and need to faint. So this was not a read that I found particularly fun. I also didn't really engage with the sister pairing here as I didn't find either of the characters particularly compelling. They seemed quite self-absorbed and the so-called secret at the centre of the whole story seemed rather far-fetched. However I know other people really enjoyed this book and perhaps I would have engaged more if I had found it less triggering.

Liked it but didn’t love it. Beautifully written but it did drag on a bit towards the end. Sorry I took so long to get around to reading this, blame the pandemic and my inability to concentrate on anything for longer than 5 minutes over the past 2 years!

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

A heart wrenching masterpiece featuring a fractured family endorsed with beautiful writing, emotional supplements of mainly grief, and frustration, and a stance on how honesty is the best policy. I loved this book.

I absolutely loved this book. It is a heart breaking story about Audrey and her two daughters who have been feuding for almost thirty years. The writing in this book is fantastic, the character development is brilliant. I can't wait to read more from the author in the future.

Thank you very much Netgalley and Orion Publishing Group for this book. I really enjoyed it. It's a powerful story of family secrets and lies, with some harrowing, distressing moments but ultimately it is an uplifting tale of hope, forgiveness and healing. So so good.

I loved this book. It made me smile and it made me cry. It's so beautifully written. I loved the character of Audrey.
This one makes you realise life is short, even more so as one of the characters in this book has the same name as my child. I felt emotional reading those words with my little girls name being mentioned.
I would absolutely recommend this book, and grab the tissues while you are at it.

It pains me to say that this one didn't work for me - I've had it on my shelf for a while because I kept dipping in hoping I'd feel different, desperately hoping I'd feel different, but in the end it was a case of 'It's not you it's me'.

The writing is gorgeous, beautiful and delicate, I just couldn't get on with two of the main characters which overall made it difficult for me to sympathise with the hidden secret when the big reveal finally came. Audrey I came to greatly care for, although I did keep questioning why she hadn't dug sooner and kept at with her daughters.

An unpredictable novel that like I say is beautifully written which kept me reading till the end - just my lack of sympathy towards the daughters meant I struggled, but I do look forward to more from Hannah Beckerman in the future.

I feel bad. I've had this book sat on my kindle for well over three months after getting a review copy and just let it sit there, stewing, waiting, lonely and unread. I hate that I seem to stumble upon damn good books long after they've been reviewed and enjoyed by many others, but this one was totally my fault. In fact, i totally forgot I had it and only realised when I purchased my own kindle edition after watching my favourite book-tuber say it was the saddest book she had ever read. Then I go to read it and find i now have 2 copies on my kindle; an ARC and my own paid for version. I suck.

This book was amazing. Sad, heartbreaking... all of the depressing words I can't even think of.
It is one of the most gut-wrenchingly emotional books I have read this year, about a family torn apart by grief, half-truths, and denial. Fantastically written and unputdownable. I loved it. I cried, I smiled, but I mostly cried.

I should have read this sooner.

I received an ARC from Netgallety in exchange for an honest review.

A complex tale of how family dynamics, guilt and misplaced loyalties can and do impact on your future life and those around you! Ultimately it demonstrates that honesty, truth forgiveness and communication are key and that it is never too late to effect a change and that forgiveness can be obtained and with it a sense of peace.
Audrey and her two daughters lily and Jess have a fragmented relationship in which lily and Jess will not speak to each other since a childhood trauma over thirty years ago, Audrey now dying with cancer wants to reunite her daughters and give granddaughters Mia and phoebe a chance to know each other, this reconciliation is fraught with difficulties and exposes the truth but eventually leads via a convoluted path to peace and acceptance.
Thank you net galley for this early read.

Excellent book with a clear cut depiction of characters. The storyline is fluid and constant, and my concentration never waived. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed If Only I Could Tell You. I’ve been wanting to read it for ages and it did not disappoint. Wonderfully written with beautiful sentiment; a reminder of how important family and forgiveness is.

** spoiler alert ** Finding it quite hard to believe an eleven year old kept her anger so bottled up that she never once screamed out an accusation at her sister.
Not exactly a challenging read,I raced through it,just because I was so keen to find out what on earth could cause such a rift.
Is it terrible I was slightly disappointed ? Not just by its predictability, but by the fact it wasn't anything more shocking.
Some family drama thrown in for good measure.
I'm afraid I didn't love it as the vast majority of reviewers seem to have.

If Only I Could Tell You is an emotional rollercoaster of a book, telling the story of Audrey and her two daughters Jess and Lily. Jess and Lily have not spoken for many years following an incident within the family, but now Audrey is terminally ill and desperately wants them to reconnect.

This was such a sweet and well written book. I had a lump in my throat at several points due to the emotion of what I was reading, and I found it incredibly hard to put the book down once I had started it.

The story is told from all three women's POVs, and also skips between past and present; although this initially can be a bit confusing, I found that it really added to the story, and it was interesting how seeing the story from different perspectives gave a more rounded view of each woman. I found that by the end of the book I related to each of the characters, and felt empathy for all of them.

Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable read (although hard in places due to its emotional content) that I will be recommending to many of my friends.

The story follows a mum, Audrey and her two daughters Jess and Lily. Jess and Lily have not spoken since they were kids due to something that occurred in their past and Audrey is desperate to get her family back together during hard times. I honestly did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did, I loved it from start to finish. It was such an emotional story that had me constantly page turning, even though I had to keep a few tissues at my side throughout.
I loved all the characters in the book, especially the main three, Audrey, Jess and Lily. It was great to see the book written from the POV of all 3 of these characters, it really helped to relate with the grief and events within the book. It was also great how the book moved between flashbacks of the past and present. Hannah’s style of writing was beautiful, the way she managed to portray every emotion the characters felt through her words was incredible. I will definitely pick up another of Hannah Beckerman’s books and would recommend If Only I Could Tell You!

Really enjoyed this book although it was heartbreaking to see a family torn apart like. Really liked the style of writing switching between the different characters.

This is the tale of two sisters who are bitter enemies as a result of a family tragedy. There are secrets that have destroyed their lives over time. Audrey their mother is terminally ill with little time left. She wants her daughters to reconcile.
The writing is strong and moves forward and backwards in time. It is interesting to read the story from different character perspectives.
This was such a great read and I would recommend it.
