This is the first book that I have read by this author. Keely and Nate make a good couple. This is a second chance romance and I think it’s pretty well done. I really liked Nate He is an excellent hero. Keely is a good character, not my favorite h, but she has a very good personality and is a good fit for Nate. I do think the reason for the break up from years ago was weak. I also don’t understand why she would make the sacrifices she did for her father. I understand the ones she made for her sister, but not her dad. I do recommend this book, it definitely entertained me four stars.

I have read the previous book in the Texas Playmakers series since I enjoyed it I couldn't wait to read this one.

You don't really have to read the 1st book so you can start with this one if you wish.

I enjoyed this book and it is less than 200 pages so it didn't take me long to read it.

I did like the characters and the story is well written.

If you are looking for a good but quick romance book to read I do recommend this one.

I really enjoyed this story. It was well written and the characters are great. Nate and Keely are the kind of people I’d want to be friends with and I loved unwrapping their story. Don’t miss this one.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I loved the book. This is book 2 about the Ramsey men of Last Stand Texas. I read the first book and am glad I did as I was already introduced to a lot of the main characters and have background on this Texas town from the other books I’ve read. This book focuses on Nate Ramsey, the middle brother in this baseball dynasty. Nate left for the minors before finishing college, leaving behind his very steady girlfriend, Keely. Keely broke up with him in spite of the plans they had made to have her accompany him as he traveled. She was from a broken home situation. Her mom had left them when she was 13 and her younger sister was 11. Her dad started drinking and had the reputation as the town drunk. She took college online and paid to have her younger sister go away for college. She remained in Last Stand and built a wildflower business on the family land, paying all the bills and taking care of her sick father. She knew she couldn’t leave and be with him as her sister was still a minor and not in college yet.

Nate gets called to the major league a couple months earlier. He suffers an accident and his hand is badly hurt. He returns to Last Stand to recuperate. He runs into Keely and their chemistry returns. They fight it but finally give in. Keely’s sister Alexis comes home too as she is working as a physical therapist for Nate’s baseball team and is attracted to his teammate Ty who is also injured. Keely is using the family land to grow her flowers. There is a fire cased by her dad and all her flowers are lost. This is the family’s sole source of income. Time comes for Keely to make a decision about whether or not to go with Nate this time around. There is also the added chemistry between Ty and Alexis. I can’t wait t read book 3. Joanne is a terrific author.

I really enjoyed this book. It's my first book by the author Joanne Rock. After reading this one, I will definitely be checking out her other books. This is book number two in the Texas Playmakers series. In this book, Nate Ramsay gets his story told. From a family of baseball players, Nate gets sidelined by an injury after getting a chance to play in the major leagues. He heads back home to Last Stand, TX to recover. Once there he runs into the girl he left behind five years ago to play baseball. Keely Harper has been through a lot. She's spent most of her life taking care of her younger sister while dealing with an alcoholic father. She's also trying to run a struggling business in order to care for everyone. Doubts, feelings of abandonment and family drama runs deep. She needs to gain trust in Nate and also allow herself to do something big for herself. Like a second chance at love. This was a sweet story with great characters and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I highly recommend.

We are back in Last Stand, TX and this time Nate Ramsay gets his story.
Nate comes from a family of baseball players and finally gets a chance to play in the major league but an injury sidelines him and he goes back home to Last Stand to recover. But his return stirs feelings for the girl he left behind five years ago when she chose not to follow him.
Keely Harper is finally getting some stability in her life after spending most of it taking care of her younger sister, dealing with an alcoholic father as well as a struggling business in order to feed and care for everyone.
The story is filled with family drama on both sides, the unknown future of Nate’s career and whether or nor Keely is ready to let go and find time to do something for herself. Feelings and fear of abandonment run deep.
Though at times a little slow, it was an entertaining story . The main characters as well as the secondary ones kept the story interesting.
Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Tule Publishing . The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Second book in the Texas Playmakers series, although it can be read as a standalone and this was to me a very entertaining read, it has a simple but well written and developed story paired with good characters, it does feel like it's slowing down at times but it never put me off reading.
There are tropes and elements I really enjoy like, second chance and sports romance, and also it takes place in a small town. I'm sure I'm not the only who loves this and anyone who does should add this book to their lists, and Joanne's books have a lot of heart too.
I'm really hoping there's going to be another book involving second characters from this book.

This was a sweet second-chance romance. Nate is a baseball player from a family of baseball players. He’s just made it to the majors and been playing well when he gets injured. Returning home to his small Texas town, this presents an opportunity to get back together with his first love, Keely. She had broken up with him when he got drafted because she needed to stay home and take care of her younger sister and alcoholic dad. Keely is seemingly a strong character who has devoted her life to taking care of her family and building up a living growing wildflowers and running a florist business. But she is emotionally stunted in that she doesn’t know how to give herself and Nate a chance.

I liked the set-up, but it all got resolved in a way that just seemed like the author wanted them together so she found a way to sweep all the roadblocks aside.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

3.5 Stars

I hadn't read anything by Joanne Rock before so wasn't quite sure what to expect but I loved the thought of a second chance/sports romance. Game On was a little more about the second chance than the sports and its Nate and Keely's story.

When Nate was drafted to the major league for Baseball he broke a promise to his childhood sweetheart Keely forcing them to go their separate ways. Now Nate finds himself injured and back in his home town.
What will happen when he comes face to face once again with Keely, can everything they need to say to each other be brought out into the open and will they find their way back to each other?

For me this was an enjoyable read but I was just waiting for that little bit more. I liked the characters and will definitely give this author another go in future.

Game on is the second book in the Texas Playmakers series by Joanne Rock. This novel is told in third person point of view and is Nate Ramsey and Keely Harper’s story.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book in the Texas Playmakers series (The Perfect Catch) so before diving into this novel I decided to wipe the slate clean and give Game On a fair shot.
I felt this novel flowed better than the first, I found myself becoming even more intrigued the more I read.

I’m a huge fan of second chance romances. Keely and Nate’s romance is short and sweet but the second chance and hopefulness is what I loved most. Keely is afraid to let the man that so easily let her walk away back in. And Nate is scared to let the woman who so easily let him go back into his heart. It’s a constant push and pull, but the emotion between the two is what really grew on me. These two are clearly meant to be and all it took was a meddling grandfather to help them see the truth. It was a great romance.

I had a few issues with this novel but my main issue was the fact that I wanted a little bit of baseball and I wanted some game play! I was hoping for a little baseball hunkiness. Men showing what they excell at with their women in the bleachers screaming their heads off at a grand slam play. Talk about wishful thinking.

So if you decide to read this book based on the baseball trope and are looking forward to game play, this isn’t the one for you. But if you’re looking forward to the second chance romance between two people who are clearly meant to be, you will probably adore this one.

Overall, I liked this novel more than the first, but it's still not a love for me. Where starting to move in the right direction though!

Theme: A sexy, contemporary sports-romance that focuses on Highschool Sweethearts getting their second-chance love.

Nature of Review: NetGalley provided me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.

Release Date: Game On is set to release on August 08, 2019. It is part of the Texas Playmakers Series, and is the second installment. The first installment, The Perfect Catch, is avilable is ebook format, while the third book is coming Spring 2020!

Warnings: sexual content, language, talk of death and dying. I think this book was actually pretty tame in terms of content ☺️

Blurb:

Nate Ramsey is a small-town hero, having made it to the big times in Major League Baseball. Everyone loves to talk about his successes, but no one will ever forget the woman he left behind to make it there.

When Nate suffers an injury that might ruin his career, he finds himself back home hoping to give back to his town while he still can, in the form of a youth baseball camp. Word spreads like wildfire, and soon enough Keely Harper is having to watch as the man she loved waltzes back into her world. Nate hopes there is a chance for them to rekindle their relationship, but Keely knows in the big leagues nothing is ever certain.

With Keely having made a name for herself with her business, and Nate hoping to return to baseball, the odds are against the couple. But Nate knows Keely holds his heart, and Keely has never felt anything about a guy to parallel how she feels about Nate. Game On is a steamy feel-good romance perfect for a quick read.

I enjoyed Game on and was absorbed right from the beginning into Nate and Keely’s story. I think the whole second-change romance thing adds steamy tension right away, so there was no slow introduction here, which I really did enjoy. Both Keely and Nate’s character’s got POVs, and they were equally fun to read and see their thoughts and desires grow together as the story moves along.

I loved both their families as they added dynamics to the story that both brought them together and tore them apart, which I think is very realistic. There was no part of the story that made me think “yeah right”, it was all perfectly paced and the feelings were justified and relatable.

There were two things I (kinda) disliked about this novel.

1: The ending. I thought there was so much build up on their relationship and them trying to rekindle, that the ending was super abrupt and felt kind of unfinished. Almost like a lame cliffhanger, since there was nothing making me feel like I needed to read the next book, but yet I feel like their story will be brought up in the third installment as they are all based together.

2: Ty and Alexis’s story kinda just popper out of nowhere in the middle of the book. Alexis is Keely’s little sister who is a physical therapist who happens to work with Ty, one of Nate’s teammates, and their story ends up intertwining with Nate/Keely’s romance. It was kinda brought up out of the blue, but it was an unexpected twist. The problem with this was: I enjoyed Alexis and Ty’s side story more than the main story. I don’t have much more to say here, other than they were full of tension and hilarious jibes and I wish they were the focus of the story. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Overall, I enjoyed Game On as an easy, romantic getaway that anyone could easily enjoy this summer. Again, I wish Alexis and Ty had their own book, and maybe they will in the future, and that book I will definitely buy!

This is book 2 of the series, and since there are 3 brothers and a sister I expect there will be more to come. This is Nate's story, who returns home to recover from an injury during a baseball game. He meets up with Keely, his old girlfriend, and the spark is still there. Overall, I did enjoy this one, although I liked the first book better. Would recommend this book and author. Fun and light summer read.

Game On is the second book in Joanne Rock’s Texas Playmakers series and focuses on the relationship between Keely Harper and Nate Ramsay. For lovers of small town, second chance romances, this one will definitely be a favourite, as Keely and Nate are two genuine characters who face unresolved issues and what often seems like overwhelming challenges to their complex and fiery reunion. The storyline for this book is good, and the support cast add an interesting secondary storyline that will obviously continue in the next book. I did find the story a little slow in places, but overall it held my attention and ended nicely. I look forward to the next in the series.

“Game On” is book two of the Texas Playmakers series by Joanne Rock and features Nate Ramsey and Keely Harper.

Injured playing baseball, Nate returns home to Last Stand, Texas. His grandfather, Emmett, needs Nate to talk to Keely about a piece of land that she’s been using for her wildflower farm.
Keely ended her relationship with Nate five years ago so he could pursue his baseball career and she could stay behind to care for her father and sister.
Now, Nate is back and their feelings for each other are still there.

Filled with family drama, Nate and Keely both have a decision to make if they want to have the happily-ever-after they didn’t get the first time around.

Ms. Rock writes a story about family and if/when you should put your own happiness first.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.

This is a sports romance that i guess could technically be considered a second chance romance as well. Nate and Keely broke up when Nate is drafted as a pro athlete. Five years later, he's home and on the injured list. Will they reconnect? Will the relationship last this time?

Nate and Keely first fell in love as teenagers in Last Stand, Texas. However, Keely couldn’t see a way for their relationship to continue when Nate was drafted as a baseball player. They had no contact with each other for five years yet neither found a relationship that could hold a candle to the one they had together.

After Nate is injured, he returns home to Last Stand to recuperate and reconnects with Keely. She fights her feelings for Nate at first, but eventually agrees to a short-term relationship. Nate has hopes to eventually convince her that their relationship can be more than short-term.

Can two people who once hurt each other deeply and whose lives are in different places find happiness together again.

This is the second book in the series. The next book will focus on Nate’s younger brother.

If you like hometown romance, put this one on your TBR list. Five years ago, Nate Ramsey and Keely Harper were sweethearts. I guess you could say baseball broke them apart. Now, Nate has to recover from surgery on his left hand, sustained from an injury during a baseball game. He's going home to recover, back to Last Stand, TX. What he wants is to start a kids baseball camp, what he needs is Keely.
Sweet and hot in Texas.
