What can I say? I love the concept! I love the format. I love the thought-process behind the creation. There is a lot of good stuff here. However, I think you have to be a person who feels comfortable adapting – because the book is definitely difficult to execute in the way that it is designed. The good news is that the author gives you permission to deviate.

The big picture approach to this book is doing a morning bible study over breakfast. I love that each day Ciuciu provides a quick study option and a more in-depth study option. You choose what works best for you on any given day. Ciuciu also provides a breakfast recipe. They all look delicious, but honestly, I can’t imagine that anyone is trying new breakfast recipes thirty-one days in a row!

In regards to the studies, the quick option only requires reading and contemplation. Usually, the Bible verses are quoted – at least in part – for you. The in-depth version definitely requires more involvement. It requires that you actually reading in your Bible. Ciuciu provides thoughtful questions to allow you to ‘engage the text.’ The follow-up sections are devised to have you assess the main idea, spark transformation, and turn to God in worship.

As far as the content, the studies are written with women in mind – but there is no clear topical direction. I think each day is just something relatable to women. It’s not necessarily on stress or children or prayer. It presents a variety of topics. That’s not a bad thing! I just wanted to make it clear because I think that point is missing from the general overview of the book.

Even though the book stands on its own just fine, Ciuciu has developed a website to provide additional support. The website wasn’t live at the time of this review, but on it Ciuciu intends to provide printable reading plans, leader’s guide, discussion questions, and so much more. I think it will be a nice bonus feature.

I imagine you will see this book making its way through many church circles! I hope to gather my own circle or two and dive deeper into these studies – and recipes! I will be blogging about my experiences at www.Patch405.com.

I love the idea of this book and plan on buying a hardback copy as soon as possible. I think combining a cookbook and devotional is genius. I looked over some of the recipes and most were easy and kid-friendly (which is a plus with my 5 yo!) There are short devotions for busy mornings and longer ones for days where you can digest (literally & figuratively).

Bible and Breakfast gives you not only food for your spiritual devotion but also a new quick breakfast recipe to enjoy with your reading. It is calming and quieting to sit and enjoy not only a satisfying breakfast but a fulfilling devotion. I look forward to making the delicious sounding recipes. Some days I may only have time to read the "snack" while other days a will enjoy the "feast". I believe that I will enjoy this book for far longer than 31 days. I received a copy through Netgalley. I was not required to write a review.

"Bible and Breakfast" by Asheritah Ciuciu is a blog-turned-book from a concept that Ms. Ciuciu created by having a desire to have a healthier breakfast and to regularly read the Bible. She says that the book was written for women, however, I thought as a man that the devotionals and Scripture was applicable.

There is a daily "snack," i.e. a shorter devotional for someone pressed for time, and a longer, "feast." Each day also includes yummy recipes to try out for breakfast. The book also references her website, www.bibleandbreakfast.com with lots of resources to lead discussion groups, more information to pull from, and even printouts when you invite friends for breakfast.

There is a lot of great content here to read, use and grow as a Christian.

I received this as an eBook from Moody Publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review of the title. I did not receive any compensation from either company. The opinions expressed herein are completely my own.
