Such a cute story. The romance was good and the story flowed without any issues. Karis Walsh is becoming a fast favorite.

4 Stars for this pleasant romance by Karis Walsh. Walsh has become a favorite author and she doesn’t disappoint in this book. This is one of her fluffier romances, with minimal angst and puppies ;)

Cute storyline with adorable animals! Also awesome book cover... it was the big draw for me prior to reading!

Has all the elements that make Karis Walsh one of my favorites writers in this genre. Slow burning romance, just enough angst, very likable characters, dogs. Another winner!

Sweet read. I mean it does include puppies. First time reader. F/F romance.

Alanna goes to Yakima Washington after being betrayed by her boss. She takes a job at a ranch even though she never even ridden on a horse before.

Tegan is the towns vet. Has bad experiences with relationships. Sees that Alanna is out of her element.

This was a slow building romance. Started out a friends then went from there.

Tons of laughs. A light read with barley any angst. Overall a good read.

Stevie‘s review of Sit. Stay. Love. by Karis Walsh
Contemporary Lesbian Romance published by Bold Strokes Books 13 Aug 19

The main elements that appeal to me in Karis Walsh’s novels are the people, the locations, and (in most cases) the animals. This book promised all three in abundance, starting with the cute dog on the cover, then continuing with the rural setting and the mismatched central pairing of a veterinarian and an event planner. Tegan Evans is very much at home in Yakima, Washington, even if she does have trouble recruiting staff as dedicated as she is to help run her busy practice, catering to all the local domestic species – as well as a few beasties that are less keen to be tamed. Meanwhile, Alana Brendt sees her new job as very much a temporary diversion from big-city hotels. An opportunity to rebuild her confidence and her reputation after months of covering for her previous boss’s mistakes ended in her getting the full blame for the biggest disaster of them all. Even if the fallout of that particular confusion was pretty funny in hindsight.

Desperate to impress any employer who might not have heard about her dismissal, Alana lies about her hobbies and her experience in handling and riding horses to secure what she expects to be an office-based post at a soon-to-be-opening hotel and outdoor pursuits centre. On arrival, she learns that the centre is further off opening than she’s been led to believe, and her new employer expects her to spend most of her time, once it is open, outdoors, leading trail rides and other expeditions. Alana convinces herself that she can teach herself everything she needs to know via Google with no one being any the wiser and sets out to prove all the detractors she left behind her wrong.

First up, she has to help Tegan perform some routine veterinary work on the hotel’s horses – and Tegan spots instantly just how inexperienced Alana is. Realising that there’s no time to find a replacement if the hotel is to open on its latest projected date, Tegan and Alana strike a deal in which Tegan will get Alana as up to speed as possible before the hotel opens and she has to lead her first trail ride. Meanwhile, Alana’s first evening in the house that’s been rented for her results in yet more adventures with Tegan, when the scrabbling from under the porch turns out to be a stray dog and her litter of puppies.

Alana takes on the canine family, scoring herself lots of points in Tegan’s estimation, and determines to ensure that they all survive to find loving homes. Along the way she meets a whole bunch of her neighbours and manages to team some of them up with the purposes they need in life, even more than the puppies need loving humans. And, of course, Tegan and Alana grow ever closer, in spite of the fact that Tegan has no desire to live anywhere but Yakima, while Alana is determined to get out of there as soon as her contract’s up and return to working in glitzy hotels where she doesn’t have to get her hands dirty.

While I liked the setting for this book, not to mention all the background characters with their various quirks and needs, I found it very difficult to warm to Alana, and was quite cross with Tegan for letting someone with so few clues about horses take on so much responsibility for the herd so quickly. I’d have liked to have seen a bit more of the dogs too, especially the mother dog – I was kind of expecting her training to form part of the plot, given the book’s title.

Grade: C

This is my 9th book by Walsh. For me, Walsh is consistently a good read, and I always enjoy her books. I never love them but they are enjoyable. I usually save her books for a weekend read, and this one was no different. Her books are sweet and cute with usually good settings and likable characters. Walsh's books are not too deep, it's all romance and puppies but not that deep intimacy you find in other with some other authors. If you love Walsh you will love this book. If you want an easy sweet romance for a weekend read, this is your book.

A really fun read which started slightly slow for me at first. Alana turned out to be a really funny character to follow as she tried to discover all things country and outdoor activities. Tegan wasn't my favorite at first however I found she warmed up fairly quickly. I loved the addition of the puppies and the way Alana tried to find them the right homes.

The secondary characters really added to the story for me in particular Chip who I thought was so sweet and loved he wasn't always what he seemed.

I got this book solely because the cover caught my eye and the summary was interesting. I feel like many of us might have exaggerated some of our skills on a resume before, so I was interested to know how Alana did it. Also, I love dogs and while somewhat key in this book, they did much more in bringing together two unlikely people together to create a lovely story. Alana Brendt, a woman who 'fudges' on her resume experience with hotel/property management with outdoor skills finds a job at a ranch in Yakima, Washington, and Tegan Evans, a local veterinarian who has had her heart broken a few times but seems willing to allow it to happen again, bond over Alana's desperate attempts to prove she can handle her new job and the outdoor requirements she was unprepared for and over the puppies they find under her house. The feelings between these two women range from interest to dread at various times, but it is always feelings of comfort and love that ultimately prevail between the two as they realize that home is truly where one least expects it.

The character development between the two was gradually and not rushed; their relationship had the same pace and made the book enjoyable. I prefer a slow burn book and this book definitely delivered on that. Even the romance scenes were tasteful and not overdone. I was always surprised by the turn on how Tegan dealt with romance, considering her past. It was interesting to see how people who have been hurt in love before allow it to keep happening, even though they know it might hurt. It made her a much more endearing character and made me wish I could get to know her in person. This was my first book by this author but I don't want to make it my last. I definitely will be checking out her other books. I like her style!

What a great read. It had fun and likeable characters and puppies. The setting for the book was beautiful. It was just an easy enjoyable read. The heat between Alana and Teagan was believable. Alana moves to Yakima, Washington for a position as activities director for a brand new dude ranch. In a desperate move, she lied on her application and doesn’t really have extensive experience in riding horses or leading rafting trips. But Alana’s always been good at thinking on her feet so she figures with a few YouTube videos and some hands on tutoring from the hot, local veterinarian, she’ll be fine. And after all, she’s just sticking around until a better offer from an elite hotel comes her way. The only fly is that darn wonderful vet, Tegan, who makes staying in this town a real possibility.

A light and fluffy romance with puppies! This was so cute, I really loved it.

Alana is a city girl who just accepted a job as an event coordinator in remote Yakima, Washington. She may have fudged on her resume just a little bit...but it should be fine! Until she realizes she’s going to have to lead trail rides and white water rafting, not just coordinate them for guests. Then she meets veterinarian Tegan who helps Alana with some puppies, along with other aspects of her new job.

Tegan and Alana have a sweet relationship and I really loved reading about them. It made me wish I was out in the country on a horse with them or running outside with some puppies!

There was a little bit of drama, but not a lot which was just fine with me. I loved seeing the way they flirted and interacted, and enjoyed watching their relationship grow.

I rarely take long to read a book, but this one was a bit tough to read.

The pacing stared low, however, once it picked up it was overall enjoyable. This is a full on romance book with little drama, just full on chemistry and relationship developing naturally.

This would be the second time reading something from the author, and I am not entirely convinced on her writing style, specially because there is not that initial thing that drains me

Perhaps I would give her books another try, am not sure though.

It’s been some time since I read a Walsh novel and now I’m wondering why I haven’t read more of them.

Sit. Stay. Love. is a cute romance novel with little drama. There was plenty to keep me interested, though. I loved the characters, their fun banter, and how easily they fell in love. Usually I would want some sort of drama, or excitement, but sometimes this is just what the doctor ordered.

A fun read overall.

“Sit. Stay. Love.” is a good book. Big city girl Alana flees to a ranch outside a not-so-small town and meets attractive home-town vet Tegan. The story gives the reader two good main characters with a lot of chemistry and honest attraction. No overdrawn angsty build up here. The supporting characters are good. As usual from Karis Walsh, we have great descriptions of the setting and scenery that paint a lovely backdrop to the story. The book is well-written, well-edited, and I liked it a lot. It’s a bit light for me to really love it, but overall a very solid four stars.

First, this book was fine. I have no massive complaints or warnings. It’s a perfectly fine book that took me 35% to get into, and then there was no strong emotional arc to keep me engaged. Second, this is my biggest quibble, the book acts like it takes place in a small town, but Yakima is not a small town. So, you have to ignore that Yakima is a real place and a city of more than 90,000 people, and embrace the small town-ness.

If you’re still here, you want my supporting arguments for my first point. My complaint is not that this is a sweet story about two people meeting and falling in love and finding a place with each other. My complaint is that there’s no real growth. You never get a chance to see the heroines develop into more than who they were when the book started. They aren’t really changed by knowing each other, which I apparently feel strongly about needing in my romances. Not that I require DRAMA, but that I want a sense that the book is more than two people who are compatible coexisting. I finished the book with a greater sense of what the ranch looked like than how their relationship worked.

And the thing is, it is a sweet book. Puppies and their mom are rescued. There’s very tame flirting while learning how to ride a horse. There are two people who become friends and later become lovers. Then, they have to figure out what they want and are willing to compromise on. Only it took me 35% for the story to advance enough for me to feel engaged, and even then, I never felt like I was in a comfy place. The book kept me at arm’s length, refusing to let me get closer. There was nothing propelling the very little story forward.

It was fine.

I thought I would really enjoy this story, considering there were puppies involved in the main story, but alas, the story dragged too much for my liking. There was an abundance of descriptions, which I typically do like, but there was too much and not enough of the plot. The main characters, Tegan and Alana were fully fleshed. If you are looking for a book that has a veterinarian, horses and the setting is in Washington state, this might be the book for you. Unfortunately for me, it wasn't.

The premise of this book was so good that I expected to love it a lot. Horses, dogs and wlw. How could I not love it?! But I didn't. I liked it, sure. But I expected more.
Maybe the reason I didn't like it quite as much has nothing to do with the story itself (it was cute and solid) but with the fact that I read not long ago another "big city girl arrives to a small town and doesn't expect to stay but she falls in love with the place and another girl" book.
But it's Alana and Tegan are good characters, they have instant chemistry (I think this was an issue for me as well, I love a more slow burn thing) and it was good getting to know the other characters. I get why people love the book as much, and I enjoyed it, I just thought I'd *love* it.

This is an Lgbt romance about Alana Brendt an event coordinator and the veterinarian Tegan Evans, this looks like an enemy to lover type of romance but they became friendly really fast and start to show feelings to each other and I found funny when they started to flirt using massages.
One thing that I liked about this book was the character development of Alana and how she has finally given herself a break and stop planning an insert future and accepting an amazing present with her new friend, lover, and animals.
The book is well written and the sex scenes and now heavy and if you are new to the whole romance thing I recommend this one. Tegan and Alana are couple goals and I liked how they resolve their problems, in the end, talking and giving each other a new chance in the relationship and life even with all the things in the past.

This may be my favourite Karis Walsh to date!

Alana's been working in hotels her entire life, working her way up to bigger cities and fancier names. But when disaster strikes and she embarrasses one of those fancy name hotels, she has to reboot her career and ends up taking a job in the tiny town of Yakima, Washington. She finds out she has to lead trail rides and take care of the horses, and quickly realizes she must rely on veterinarian Tegan Evans to help her stay afloat in this new job she so desperately needs. As the two women spend time together, between horseback riding and puppy caregiving, they can't help falling for each other. But is Alana always destined to leave for a life in the big city that she's always dreamed of?

This was a unique and sweet story, I loved the setting and the set up for Alana's new job. The puppies were a hilarious and lovely addition. The romance was sweet and had great chemistry. I loved the whole little world created here, it was just a heartwarming story all around. I couldn't ask for anything more. There were a few instances that made me go 'wait what' when characters made wild assumptions or mentioned things they couldn't possibly know. This took me out of the story a little but still I enjoyed the ride so much that it didn't matter in the long run.

I really liked this book. I always enjoy reading about animals in my lesfic. It's the perfect combination. The mother and pups were almost like another important character in the storyline. I'm always a fan of this author's work and this book doesn't disappoint. She provides lovely descriptions of the environments and scenery that makes it possible to see the story as you read it. I lack a bit of imagination while reading, so this is a great bonus for me. All in all, this book is a worthwhile read.
