Part of the Beauchamp Heirs regency romance series, Dominic Beauchamp, Lord Avon, is expected to find and marry the perfect high society wife. The only woman who he is attracted to, however, is Liberty Lovejoy, a woman who has just moved into society after years of being a nobody! She is too loud, bubbly and independent but she is the one he wants. The pair start as enemies, she is furious that his brother is leading her brother astray, then friends and finally they want more.

A lighthearted enjoyable read that illustrates the class system that existed during Regency England and how the Duke’s family had to change their attitude in order for their son to be happy.

I received this novel from Mills & Boon via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

This was a really enjoyable Regency romance based more on the emotional side of things than requiring action and drama to create conflict. Liberty is a fun, sassy heroine, and Dominic is an enjoyably self-aware hero - there's no doubt that they're well-suited, except in their own minds! A lovely gentle read with a very sweet ending.

Janice Preston never every fails to amaze me in her books and this was no exception, a truly astounding read.
I was thoroughly entranced right from the start, I was glued to the book and didn’t put it down. Dominic Beauchamp a typical Heir, full of expectations brought up to fulfil his role with clear views and now looking for the “ perfect bride” who has all the requirements. And then in comes comes Miss Liberty Lovejoy with a bang and my heart skipped a beat. She is everything he is not looking for and they both know it. They start out as enemies, they then become friends and it’s not long before love is found. I loved the way the story unfolded and the way they each had to look at themselves and re evaluate what they actually wanted from their lives and love. And their situations made them question themselves.
This book was so cleverly written I was utterly enthralled and totally drawn into the book and this story I absolutely loved it. This is Ms Preston at her total best. Simply sublime.

#DaringToLoveTheDuke'sHeir is part of The Beauchamp Heirs series and this happened to be my first one. I haven't read the others. Still, that fact didn't detract from my enjoyment of this story.

Stiff-lipped Dominic Beauchamp, Lord Avon, is a powerful duke’s heir and it’s his duty to marry well. Unfortunately the only lady he is attracted to is the irrepressible Liberty Lovejoy, who’s been thrust into society after years of being a provincial nobody. She’s too bold, too bubbly and frankly not his type at all, yet she is the only lady he can think about.

It was fun to join Dominic's journey as he battled with his feelings, the scorn of society at large given his status, and the expectations of his family, his mother's in particular, to come to the realisation that his true happiness lay with Liberty.

A Duke has to marry to have heirs and the lady he marries has to be impeccable. So, why then, is he attracted to a totally unsuitable spinster.? Who knows .....? He certainly doesn’t! But fate seems to be conspiring to throw them continually together!
I lighthearted and very enjoyable read!

Oh the ‘Ton’ and their ideas that women should be seen and not heard - unless they agree with men of course - in very simpering way.
A time it seems of true misogyny, at least in the ranks of the privileged few. Bearing in mind that very few women had any control over property, children or money. Let alone voting and politics. Not even the ability to pay bills it seems.
What therefore is a woman with a mind, a voice, and emotions going to do when her twin brother seems determined to fritter away their newly acquired fortune and she can’t control him or the money or...
Clearly she was not going to marry a Duke. Except that this is a love story and...
Nicely written and one feels for both the hero and heroine. The hero because he has been brought up in a world of expectations and the heroine because she has so little control over her life and yet is a passionate and meddling..!

I really liked this story!

It was set in days long gone by and Janice has brilliantly captured the "goings on" of the gentry perfectly in every detail. Her writing style suits this genre perfectly and I felt like I was transported back in time. The attention to detail and descriptive nature of the book was excellent.

This was a heart-warming romance with some excellent characters that were well developed and they worked so well together, I liked their interaction and really enjoyed getting to know them.

It is 5 stars from me, I thought it was a superb story, very well crafted and thoroughly enjoyable - very highly recommended!!

I always really enjoy stories by this author and yet again she does not disappoint. Liberty and Dominic are really well drawn characters with interesting personalities which also include the all to human flaws which make them more realistic. The situations were so well drawn that they are clear to visualise and easy to remember so the story really flows. I read the whole book in less than a day and now look forward to the next novel with Alex’s story.

This book just didn't do it for me.

Liberty Lovejoy, our heroine, is the responsible older sister in a once impoverished family. However, this just didn't work for me. The many blunders against society rules in only the first few chapters contradict her apparent desire for her sisters to do well in society and marry well. She must have realised that with their mother's family having a whiff of trade about them she'd have to be more careful than most to follow the rules? She didn't have the sense of humour or charm to carry her rule breaking off - or make me like her more.

And Dominic, the hero, just seemed dull and heavy handed. Not sure why Liberty fell in love with him really.

The plot seemed rather unoriginal too. The writing flowed well though.

So all in all, not one that had much to recommend itself to me.

The second book in ‘The Beauchamp Heirs’ is a delightful read. I like the originality of the plot, the complexities of the heroine and hero, and the cast of characters who bring this story to life. The historical detail and the ethos of living with the expectations and rules of the ‘haute ton’ are cleverly interwoven into a story that explores marrying for love, over the marriage of convenience.

Liberty Lovejoy protects her family at all costs after the loss of their parents and her intended husband to illness. Her meeting with the outwardly proper Lord Avon would leave society’s matron’s gasping, but thankfully he sees beyond her risque actions, to the caring person, who only wants to save her brother from himself and ruin.

Dominic, The Marquess of Avon is to marry, he has a list of likely ladies, but his unexpected encounter with Liberty severely threatens his plans. Both protagonists are damaged by events in their past, especially Dominic, who believes in duty over happiness.

The romance is gentle, the couple like each other, but the love element to their relationship is a surprise to both. The dialogue is witty and often amusing, and the romance as it deepens passionate. The ending is so romantic, almost fairytale-like, but a perfect completion to a lovely story.

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

A superbly written historical romance from a virtuoso of the genre, Daring to Love the Duke’s Heir is a beautifully written, intensely emotional and highly charged Regency tale that is sure to satisfy and delight aficionados of the genre the world over.

Miss Liberty Lovejoy is used to feeling the heavy burden of responsibility upon her shoulders. After the tragic death of both of their parents, Liberty had assumed all the duties and responsibilities of the family and starting putting herself last and her siblings first. Liberty does not begrudge being the sensible and practical one while her brother Gideon and sisters Hope and Verity have all the fun and none of the concerns that plague her every day. However, when she learns that Gideon is spending all of his inheritance on games of hazard and loose women and going through money like it’s going out of fashion, Liberty realises that she cannot continue to allow him to behave in such an irresponsible manner. Liberty blames Alexander Beauchamp for leading her brother astray and she vows to put a stop to his malevolent influence. Unchaperoned and determined, Liberty heads off to his sumptuous London house to give him a piece of her mind – and finds herself confronted by Alexander’s arrogant, conceited and handsome brother, Dominic Beauchamp, Lord Avon, who is naturally less than impressed at having this provincial nobody marching into his house and throwing all manner of accusations at him!

Dominic Beauchamp is a man with marriage on his mind. Lord Avon knows that the time has come for him to do his duty and find a suitable bride to marry. Dominic is not looking for love, but for a woman with impeccable breeding, manners and taste to hang on to his arm and be the perfect society wife. As one of the Ton’s most eligible bachelors, Dominic can have any woman he wants, however, ever since Liberty Lovejoy strode through the doors of his house uninvited, he has found himself unable to stop thinking about anyone or anything else. Liberty might be the most beautiful woman he has ever clapped eyes on, but she is totally unsuitable to be his wife. She is a woman of inferior birth, rank and connections, but the more time Dominic spends in her company, the more he finds himself falling headlong into love with her.

Liberty might be a gentleman’s daughter, but she is well aware that the Ton will simply never let her forget that her mother’s family was in trade. Since she’s been thrust in society, she has had to contend with barbed words and disdainful glances, however, these are of no consequence to her. All she cares about is her siblings’ well-being and having lost the man she loves, she is certainly not interested in falling in love again – until she meets Lord Avon! As fate conspires to throw the two of them together, will they manage to triumph over all the obstacles standing in their way and spend the rest of their lives together? Or will they let this chance of happiness slip through their fingers?

Written with wonderful flair and style and sparkling with exquisite period detail, delicious wit, powerful emotion and uplifting romance, Daring to Love the Duke’s Heir is an evocative and engrossing Regency tale from Janice Preston, a fantastic storyteller with a terrific ability for bringing the past to vivid and colourful life.

Daring to Love the Duke’s Heir has echoes of Jane Austen’s classic romance Pride and Prejudice with Dominic, an honourable hero who is initially haughty and arrogant, but who soon falls for spirited, resourceful and kind-hearted Liberty. Both Dominic and Liberty give Elizabeth and Darcy a run for money and Regency fans are sure to fall in love with Janice Preston’s characters and cheer them on to their happy ending.

An outstanding historical romance from an immensely talented writer, readers who enjoy reading Regencies simply cannot afford to miss Janice Preston’s latest novel, Daring to Love the Duke’s Heir.

An excellent book written and edited to a high standard which added to the pleasure of reading it. A lovely, gentle romance with plenty of little twists and turns, some of which were quite amusing. Bertie and Domenic’s path to love included many characters whose stories are also just waiting to be told. Highly recommend this for a relaxing read.

Dominic, Lord Avon, is the heir to a prestigious dukedom and has realised that he needs to marry and provide a suitable heir. The lady he marries must have impeccable breeding, elegance, class and be from the right family, he has even come up with a shortlist of suitable young ladies! However when he meets Miss Liberty Lovejoy he finds himself thinking of her more than perhaps he should...

Liberty is in London to have a season and to support her sisters. Her twin brother, Gideon, has unexpectedly inherited an Earldom following a fire killing his distant relations. Liberty wants to protect her brother and believes that the person who is leading him astray is Lord Alexander, the younger brother of Dominic. She heads to the Dukes house to confront him and ask him to curtail Alex in a hope that it will stop the destructive patterns of behaviours and the past times that Gideon is getting into. The Duke however isn't home and instead she confronts Dominic, at first believing him to be his brother

Dominic tries to protect Liberty, he knows better than she what could damage her reputation and her sisters prospects and they end up in a series of unconventional encounters across London

Can they overcome the social differences to be friends or more? Are they willing to risk themselves for actual happiness? Will their arguments and bickering, their closeness, attract too much attention and pull them apart?

I loved this book, I did a bit of a binge read, starting on the train to work and finishing at bedtime (sort of...) and I laughed more than once!

It is really well written and the characters feel real, this comes through especially in the voices of Dominic and Liberty. They had a good split of narrative and it helped me to feel more engaged with them and to understand their thought processes, why what was happening was happening and what they actually wanted

I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a historical romance in which the main characters who have a bit of fight between themselves, a good energy and a fast paced story

Dominic Beauchamp, Lord Avon, is a powerful duke’s heir and it’s his duty to marry well. His bride must have impeccable breeding, manners and grace. So he makes a list of names. Then he meets Liberty Lovejoy who’s like a breath of fresh air she’s from a merchant background, too bold & forthright. They are constantly thrown together & their attraction grows as does their friendship. Liberty also becomes friends with Dom’s sister Olivia.
An engrossing read of the straight laced upstanding Marquis falling for the almost spinster, I loved their verbal spats & they way he was so drawn to her but insisted he’d marry for duty. I loved both Dom & Berty who were so right for each other & the road to their HEA was highly entertaining, his speech at his parent’s ball was lovely & brought a tear to my eye
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I won’t say I’m surprised, I won’t say I never expected Janice Preston to be able to outdo her last novel because it would be a lie. I KNEW she would, because Janice Preston is a talent and utter gem in writing regency romance. The stories just get bolder and wittier as we go along. She has the ability to conjure such vivid scenes in her readers head. While reading it would be so easy to close your eyes and see what she was describing as if you were in their world. The attention to detail is impeccable.

Both hero and heroine are a delight to read. This is the most perfect opposites attract book I’ve read this year. They clash, the banter is funny and I did sit there laughing to myself even while not reading. Just because I’d remembered something funny I’d read an hour ago! Looking like a loon on the train is something I understand, because authors such as these just fill my heart with love and joy. Talking of joy…

Liberty Lovejoy (I have to say this is the best name for a heroine I’ve ever seen in any genre. I grin ear-to-ear just saying it) is a lively, outspoken, stubborn headed woman so far ahead of her time. She is definitely a heroine I related to on a personal level, as she all but was a mother to her younger siblings. She’s protective, and doesn’t care what she has to do to keep her siblings on the straight and narrow, she forgoes her own freedom as it were to make sure her siblings are happy and content. This is how she meets Dominic, when she goes to confront Alex, Dominic’s brother, about his galavanting and influence on her brother.

Dominic Beauchamp was introduced to us briefly in the previous book and from that glimpse I knew I certainly loved him. Head over heels in love with him I would say. As the eldest son, he was set to inherit his father's dukedom once he came of age. The only thing left for him to do is find a suitable wife to become his Duchess. He has in mind the qualities his perfect bride must have and a list of eligible young ladies to fill the role, but do we really think it’s going to be that simple?

Liberty comes crashing into his life like a mini hurricane. She’s audacious and downright hilarious in her approach to bringing her brother back into the fold. Dominic’s plans for the perfect wife soon look to be a distant memory as his attraction to Liberty builds. And builds it does, this is a very drawn out romance. Perfectly paced to pop and sizzle, give stolen moments, perfect bickering and teasing all leading to the most perfect, swoonworthy ending. By the time we got there I was a blubbering mess, I’d become completely engrossed in them, their love story was so beautifully written my heart is just set to burst.
