Why is it a surprise when you find a novel about a happy family? That's what this is. Yes the Blythe's have some troubles as adults but they also have one another and that's what matters. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

Hearts ease is the family home of the Blyth family. The story starts with the sisters awaiting the birth of their new brother and follows the siblings into adulthood. Some parts of the story dragged for me. I kept waiting for something grand or bad to happen but it never did. I liked the book, especially the beginning. I received a copy of this arc in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Family Drama – Women's Fiction
This was a tedious book to read. I kept waiting for the meat of the story and never found it. The set-up for the story is good. I never discovered a true plot. I suppose that the plot could be that life never turns out how you expect. I was intrigued by the author's rhythm. I just felt that it never went anywhere. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

This was about a family and their house. Set between 1977 and the present time with a hint of history about earlier times and families who previously lived in the house.
Marguerite and her husband Hugh and their children live in a happy house called Heart’s Ease by the seaside near Salting Bay in the UK.
Their children grow up happy in their home surrounded by love. It is about families, family life, relationships and a house called Heart’s Ease. I loved the way the family members interact with each other and new relationships.

A rather gentle, and wonderful read about the influence of home on our lives. Wonderful characters and a great setting add to this intelligent book.

I can’t praise this book highly enough. Its characterisation is outstanding and the imagery superb. It’s intelligently written and perceptive, which is this author’s signature. What a delightful family in a much-coveted home. The children are growing up and determining their various futures. The only thing I found a little disconcerting was the over-use of pronouns instead of names, which forced me to backtrack to figure out who was doing and speaking in the middle part mainly. The style of writing appeared to change at that point. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this condensed family saga, but the ending was abrupt with a few loose ends. Does that mean there will be a sequel? Thank you to NetGalley and Severn House.

Thank you NetGalley and Severn House for the eARC.
Heart's Ease is the beautiful home that is beloved by the family who own it. The siblings, Felicity, Charity, Honor and Bruno grew up happy and secure under the benign love of their parents.
When they have grown, we see how their lives turn out. They're all quite different, but each one of them are appealing characters who lead interesting lives. At first I didn't like Felicity much, but she changed for the better.
This book is quietly wonderful, I loved it as much as I loved the author's Love in a Mist (another 5-star must read). Do yourselves a favor and read this heartwarming book! It was a welcome change from the mysteries I'd been reading, because it really makes you feel good and restores your faith in humanity. Highly recommended!
