I didn't realise that this would be so religious, and as an atheist, I just wasn't interested in that. The collection wasn't awful necessarily but they were very dark and depressing and then became very religious which I didn't want. So, it was probably more of a "me" thing.

When I read a book I plan to give feedback on, I always try to figure out who it might appeal to. This collection of poetry, I just don't know, the language tends toward archaic words used in prayers, thy thou etc and the poems have the format of old prayers.

Delightfully refreshing poetry. Thoroughly enjoyed this stroll through the author’s mind and feelings. It seemed that all emotions were covered by the verses in this book and it was a joy to work my way through them. I’ve no doubt I shall be visiting them again on more than one occasion.
If you love poetry, this is a definite must read.

First, one of my pet peeves in writing knocked this down a star-overused words ( coy, beguile(d)...). Otherwise this was a deep, thought-provoking life journey of emotional Poetry. Enjoyed and read in one sitting.

I struggled to even finish this book. The cadences were skewed often by words that were only used to complete rhymes, and left many of the poems feeling incomplete and confusing.

Death, comes with grief and sorrow, as the healing begins then comes possibly a belief in a God, then hope moving on to love. This is how The Voice Of My Minds 75 poems travel. T. A. Fish writes and complies these poems over 5 years. I love poetry, however, these poems were dark and even the movement to love seems to be darker than I presumed love would be.

There were three poems I did enjoy, Goodbye, Brain and Dream. Their literary style reached out to me. The rest of the poems were a little too creative writing class for me. I guess maybe the compilation in total just didn’t speak to me.

Thanks for the opportunity to read The Voice Of My Mind in lieu of my honest review.

Sometimes I read poetry just to exercise my brain with a genre that is never my first pick. I do not know, maybe poems are difficult for those who did not study literature deeply? Most of the time I read, but I do not connect. However, that was not the case with #TheVoiceOfMyMind by #TAFish. I had a good time reading this beautiful book of poems, and I profoundly esteemed "How Long?", "Failure", "Tortured", "If Only" and "Strive".

Will I be torn?
The burden of life
Since I was born."

Thank you NetGalley and Fish-Books for this ARC in exchange or a honest review.

I've always wanted to like poetry.. not sure why I keep trying tbh

The Voice of My Mind was actually not bad, but it wasn't great.
2.5 stars, since I liked some of the poems

I read this in one sitting yesterday, but haven't got a chance to write the review until right now. Well, honestly, I do really love this book so much. Mostly it tells about love which I don't think very relatable for me. But I guess it is very suitable for daily read for people in general considering it talks about love life in general. Let me make this clear that not every page is talking about love, there are lots of things that the author mentioned inside the book. I won't spoil it right now, you need to check it out yourself. :)

T.A. Fish spent five years composing this anthology. I appreciate his care and call to define elements of this world: emotions, life mysteries, and one's role and identity in the universe. Fish captures life's essences throughout this collection. Many times, however, I found his rhyme to intrude upon his communication of these. I found the poet's rhyme forced and somewhat immature in relation to the scope of his topics. I did find some poems that exquisitely captured the essence of his topic; my favorite was "Visionary." This poem ends with reference to the laws of balance and power. It reveals truth. Overall, I found the rhyme schemes in this collection usually lacked nuance and the rhyme ultimately distracted me.

Was intrigued by the cover and description, but didn't meet my expectations.

There are a few typos in the book. The poetry form is modern, fluid, but the rhyming seems forced. There are some really great lines, my favourite being the one about Poe.

Towards the end, the poems were finer. Like Lamentations and Treetop. Earned another star just for these.

I didn’t enjoy reading this book. Lately I have read a lot of poetry books, but this book failed to catch my attention in its poems/meanings/topics/. And it has mooore religious poems than I would have liked.

The writing style is another thing I didn’t enjoy, the rhymes seems just off in some poems and I didn’t feel that there was any harmony between the collection (I don’t even know how to explain it).

In conclusion, a book that was NOT for me at all.

All I’ve seen in those poems is religion and the love of God. Of course, I’ve got absolutely nothing against this, but i did not connect with it at all.

I expected something else and was not able to appreciate it.

I can tell the poet put a lot of thought and effort into this collection but for me this does not work on any level. The language used for the poems is overly simplistic and clunky. The poems rhyme and I am not a huge fan of intense rhymes because they are obvious and have zero impact. Unfortunately, the rhymes in every case are expected and simple and completely ineffective. At times, the rhymes and language used seemed to have no connection to the rest of the poem as if they had been shoe-horned in at random. Many lines seemed devoid of a deeper meaning. The poet took 5 years to complete this hogwash? Seriously?

" The Voice Of My Mind " by ~ T.A.Fish. An avant~ garde book of poetry. But, really more than that! It is meditative......it is food for the soul and healing for the spirit. It would be very difficult to choose a favorite. The reader may choose a special one for a day or week; but, the reader will find that it is a selection of poems that speaks to the depths of grief and explores joys of the heart. It is a book that can be picked up to enjoy anytime. Publication ~ July 2019.

I am not a poetic person, but I have read my fair share of poetry.
Unfortunately I did not understand a lot of these poems, and wondered if some words were chosen simply for the fact that they rhymed
For example;

What do you dream as your eyes close ?
What do you know of the world from the crow

I went over this line multiple times before giving up and moving on.

I found the writing style to be simplistic and expected.
And while I am sure these words make sense and obviously speak to the writer as well as some readers, I personally could not get behind it.

I did like the writing and how it flowed together, it sounded good and i highlighted some lines in it. I think poetry is a personal thing it's supposed to make you feel something. I only felt that I liked some of it, it didn't bring out any other emotions for me.
I gave this a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

"The Voice of My Mind," by T.A. Fish is a rich collection of poetry filled with the ups and downs of life, as well as her spiritual cries out to God. I found this collection to be a fascinating and quick read with lots of chew on. There is an interesting, eclectic array of poems that are all well-written with a beautiful rhythm and flow.

The poet relies heavily on repetition and rhetorical questions to highlight her subjects and ask questions to the reader without any specific answers. The result is a reflective work that is thought-provoking.

Some of my favorite poems include: Misunderstood, If Only, A Shrewd Voice, Dark Fruit, Alone, Lost, Query, Victory and Joy. There was so much in this small collection of about 60+ poems that these will be enjoyable to return to time and time again.

I definitely recommend this book!

I received this as an eBook from BookBaby via NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review of the title. I did not receive any compensation from either company. The opinions expressed herein are completely my own.

It has been a while since I’ve read a poetry book. And upon seeing this here in Netgalley. I decided to pick it up.

What this book made me feel was a tad bit nostalgic of my high school and college days when I was starting to fall more and more in love with poetry and have tried (and failed) to write magnificent poems. These poems kind of fell under that kind of voice and style, often sappy and pubescent.

I did like a few entries though! Like this one:

“How long,
May I wake?
The rumbling earth
Doth shake.

How long,
Will I mourne?
The pessimist
Doth scorn.

How long,
Is the time?
The fear of madness
Is benign.

How long,
Will she love?
The lightning of death,
Falls,
From above.

How long,
Will I be torn?
The burden of life
Since I was born.”

I was not expecting this poetry book to be so religious. It wasn’t a book I could get through I couldn’t relate to what was being said. Felt more like a prayer than poetry.
