Perfect Stranger is a really brilliantly written, smart and clever psychological thriller. A young woman shows up at the door of a well respected married couple, says the man is her father, so of course they take her in and their idyllic lives are turned upside down. This is one of those books with short snappy chapters that trick you into reading 20 at a time, with twists and turns all the way to a great ending.

I liked the storyline of this book although i did find it hard to read. For some reason I found it hard to keep all the female characters seperate in my mind. Also at times the writing felt, I suppose awkward is the best way to describe it. Some of the things the characters did or said seemed to come from nowhere and perhaps if I had more of a sense of them this would not have felt so disjointed.

This book kept me guessing to the end. It was well written and built up suspense as the story progressed. I found it difficult to put down as I needed to know what was happening and what would become of the main characters. I intend to read more from Jake Cross.

Atmospheric, creepy, edge of your seat. Love and hate characters and a gripping read. Enjoyable and great storyline

This book starts right away with the mystery and drama although it was a bit repetitious. But once you get deeper into the book it gets much better. Rose and Chris find out that he may have a daughter from a summer fling from before he was married. I liked the premise a lot. Then the twists and turns start and you start to wonder who the stranger really is. While I found this an easy read, it wasn’t really a cant put it down kinda book for me. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced ebook in exchange for an honest review!

I wanted to love this story, it just didn’t do it for me. The idea and story line was great but I was so done with chis being micromanaged. I couldn’t feel any sympathy for Rose and her arthritis because I couldn’t stand her character as a wife. Katie tried to be hardcore but then would have moments she acted like a small child. I didn’t hate the book, I would find myself completely lost in it but then Rose or Katie’s character would just ruin it for me.

Rose and Chris have been happily married for 20 years. They have a beautiful daughter; Julia and both like the path they are on and whom they are on it with. Suddenly their lives are shaken up when a beautiful young girl shows up on their doorstep and tells Chris that she is his daughter. Before Chris married Rose he had a short affair with another woman. They went their separate ways and Chris forgot about that episode in his life until Katie appeared shaking everything up. She knows all about the affair; requests that to remove all doubts about Chris being her father he take a DNA test coupled with a similar test of Katie's. And her mother has passed away prompting her action and need to find a way to live.
Katie indicates that she is staying in a temporary residence pending the outcome of the tests, but Rose extends an invitation to her stating that the family should get used to her in the meanwhile. Katie does so and suddenly strange things start to happen; someone crashes into a neighbor's fence,an unexplained fire starts in the kitchen, and a family friend disappears on the way to visit them. Mysteriously Chris refuses to explain where he was when the friend went missing.
The plot evolves from one to many instances. The police get involved and it is a certainty that the reader will experience some sleepless time when unable to put the book down. A well done mystery with an ending a capstone to a well done novel.

Perfect Stranger by Jake Cross is a fast-paced thrill ride that does not let up in its intensity, even for a moment. From the very start, the reader is pulled into a story that is so saturated with twists and turns that it is almost impossible to look away.

Chris and Rose are living a relatively quiet life with their teenage daughter when a young woman suddenly appears, claiming to be Chris' daughter, the product of a long-ago fling. Having recently lost both her mother and stepfather, Katie has nowhere to go, so Chris and Rose take her in, although somewhat reluctantly on the part of Chris, as they await the results of the DNA test. Something about the young woman does not sit right with Chris, and he begins to question the logic of taking a complete stranger into their home. But Katie is not the only one in this newly formed domestic scenario who is harbouring secrets. Are there sinister motives behind Katie's sudden appearance, and what secrets are the other family members hiding?

This is a solid thriller that has some surprising revelations in store.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

The writing in this novel was good and some of the plot twists were interesting, but I did not like any of the characters, except for one. This, unfortunately, did not endear the book to me. I wish I had enjoyed it more.

This is an entertaining fast paced thriller prefect for the beach.

Chris and Rose had been happily married for twenty years until Katie arrives at their door step.
Claiming that she is Chris's daughter from a long forgotten summer fling and that she had nowhere else to go, the couple invite her in.

From that moment onward strange things start happening including the mysterious disappearance of the couple's friend. Chris insists Katie is evil and had to go, but Rose disagrees and seems to be not so sure of who and what to trust anymore.

Thanks Netgalley, Bookouture, and author Jake Cross for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A normal, everyday family - (Rose, Chris, and their daughter, Julia (18), are in for a surprise!

They soon find out that Chris may be the father of 18 year old Katie. This, from a day-long affair Chris had before he even met Rose. Chris had never been in contact with Eve after that single day. Eve, Katie's mother, passed away but first told Katie about Chris.

So, Katie descends upon Chris and his family - motorcycle (hidden agenda?) and all. Katie and Chris both take DNA tests (7-10 days waiting period). And a lot happens during that time! Lies, deception, threats, chaos -
and yet we are waiting (not so patiently) to find out IF Katie really is Chris' daughter! Either way, what impact will this have on the family? A perfectly mastered suspense story with characters that sync together well!

Mystery/Suspense/Thriller - you've got it in this book by Jake Cross!

Many Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a superb read !

This is a great fast-paced thriller. It has unexpected twists and keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire book with its amazing plot.

Chris and Rose are the perfect couple. They’ve had a dream marriage and wonderful life together- what could be better after twenty blissful years?

One day teen Katie shows up at their door claiming to be Chris’s daughter. Say what? Katie pleads to the couple for help and despite Chris’s protests, Rose invites her to stay. Katie has recently lost her mother and has nowhere to stay now.

Strange things begin happening and Chris has had enough. He wants Katie out. He feels Katie is sinister, has ulterior motives and is dangerous. Why is Chris behaving so erratic to his own daughter? Rose isn’t sure who to trust.

Has Rose invited a dangerous stranger into her home? Or has she been living with one all along?
