Harper Reynolds was a forensic photographer - but too much exposure to the horrific scenes she had snapped over the years required that she take a break. As her break was coming to an end she found herself in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, south of Yellowstone National Park. As she was photographing the grizzly bear on the banks of the Grayback River something caught her eye. It was a hunter. But he was not hunting deer or bear, he was hunting that woman. And Harper watched as she was murdered in the moments that followed. Thus begins Elizabeth Goddard’s latest book.

In a story that takes the reader from Missouri to Wyoming to Texas, we are presented with a life and death drama that involves first responders from the national government and from multiple states and agencies. It is a gripping tale that holds the reader’s attention from the first chapter to the last - this reader’s heart could not stop pounding. The author does a wonderful job of describing the wildness that is found in the National Forest - whether seen on horseback or on foot. She is less successful in describing the downtown Dallas theater where the story finds its resolution, this reader’s only disappointment in reading the book.

A faith-based novel, Elizabeth Goddard book will find a willing home in the church library. But given its exciting and riveting story, it also belongs on the public library shelf. For the reader looking for a good fall story from a colorful writer, Always Look Twice may just fill the bill.

Crime scene photographer Harper is taking a well-deserved mental health break from her job and photographing wildlife in remote Wyoming when she accidentally witnesses a murder - and catches the whole thing on camera. Fleeing in fear of her own life, she runs into Heath, a local ranch owner who she knew as a child before her family moved away from the area.

Things get complicated when local law enforcement can’t find a body, Harper’s lost camera or any trace that a crime has even been committed. Heath believes Harper, but he seems to be the only one… and then the bombs start going off.

There’s a lot going on in this story and it was possibly a bit too much for a romantic suspense, because at the end of the story I realized while we knew who the murderer was, we never actually really found out why he killed the woman whose death Harper witnesses at the opening. That death didn’t fit with the rest of the pattern explained to us, and we didn’t really get an insight into the murderer’s psyche, why he committed certain crimes, why he took a significant break and then why he started killing again. I enjoyed Heath and Harper’s story but there were a few too many elements skimmed over on the suspense side of things for me to really love this. Four stars.

The story is a non stop thriller from start to finish. Harper is a very like able character who has been through a tough time. Her job as a crime scene photographer was becoming too emotionally draining for her. I want to stop here for a moment. I applaud the people that do this job for a living. They see things that is unimaginable and terrifying everyday. Without their efforts we would not be able to prove who committed a crime. I liked Harper because she realized she needed a break from this demanding job.

Her love for photography takes her into the woods to take scenic pictures one day that looked to be a pleasant outing. I have heard this said about cameras, “The camera never lies.” This one little statement for me is the focus of this story. What Harper sees through her camera on that unforgettable day will turn her life upside down. Can you imagine looking through the lens of your camera and witness a murder? I would run as fast as I could and never look back.

The book is well written with intrigue and danger that jumps off the pages. Harper is in danger but for some reason not everyone believes she saw anything. Losing her camera as she tries to get away from the scene will prove to be a huge mistake. The camera has evidence that someone doesn’t want anyone to find.

I loved Heath and how protective he was with Harper. He believes her and tries to help her find her camera and keep her safe at the same time. There is one scene in the book where I was on the edge of my seat. Harper and her sister are in a camper and suddenly it starts moving. That one terrifying moment knowing you have no control becomes a life or death situation. The author is brilliant at writing scenes that make you gasp and start hearing noises in your own surrounding. I have not read a book with this intensity in a long time.

Who is behind the murder and why can no one find the body? The author cleverly gives subtle hints to this question which can lead to speculation for readers. . The book is a wonderful journey through secrets, trust, danger and and letting go of the past. The faith element in the story is placed at perfect times and I did enjoy Harper and Heath dealing with their past. This has been a great story and I look forward to the next in the series.

I received a copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion.

“Always Look Twice” is another great read by Elizabeth Goddard! I really loved the first book in this series, but I think I loved this one even more! I was hooked from the first page until the last. There was a twist in this book, also. I didn’t see the ending at all.

This book follows Harper Reynolds. Harper is a crime scene photographer, but she has taken a break for a more peaceful life. But as she is taking photographs of nature, she witnesses a crime. As she is running away, she drops her camera, which has the picture of the murderer. Heath McKade is a former Green Beret and an old childhood friend of Harper’s. He comes along to help Harper find who the murderer is. There is a lot of suspense and a little romance thrown into this book to make it a great read!

Elizabeth Goddard is one of my favorite authors. If you enjoy good, clean, romantic suspense fiction, you will definitely enjoy this book.

I received this book from the publisher for my honest opinion.

We experience this action packed adventure with Lori and Heath. From the beginning to the end the suspense never let up! The romance keeps you guessing: are the going to give up their own fears and submit to God's prompting to accept His love as well as the blessing of a loved one in their lives even though they are afraid?! This is definitely one of those books that you will find difficult to put down once you start reading! Well done Elizabeth Goddard, cannot wait to read Liam's story!!

This was my favorite book from Elizabeth Goddard. There was so much suspense that I couldn’t put this book down. Harper and Heath are so good together. I enjoy the area they are in and love the description of the wilderness. I loved all the romance, suspense and intrigue. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Harper and Emily are camping in the area where they grew up when Harper witnesses a murder through her camera lens. In her haste to get away, she loses her camera and the local sheriff can’t find any evidence a murder has been committed. Heath, Harper’s childhood friend, is determined to protect her, even from herself.

It was interesting how Harper, Emily, and Heath, all chose careers to help them process events from their childhood. I wish Emily’s mystery writing would have played a more prominent role in the book. I did enjoy learning a little bit about crime scene photography.

I enjoyed this book. There was a unique violent episode I’ve never seen before. There were some surprises and an exciting, tense finish.

Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Wow, what a story! This one drew me in from the very first page. All I wanted to do was to keep reading until the mystery was solved. The setting in the Jackson Hole area was perfect and played its part in building the suspense in this book. The characters were compelling and I instantly connected with Harper. Even as she was struggling to overcome her anxiety over tragic events in her life, she stayed strong and used her talent to help find a killer. This storyline had plenty of twists in it. At one point, I thought I had the mystery solved, only to have another clue come along to make me realize I was wrong. As Heath and Harper struggle to catch the killer before he kills again, the affection they had for each other in their childhood grows in to something stronger. I also appreciated the thread of faith that was woven into the storyline.

This is an excellent Christian suspense novel and I’m looking forward to (hopefully) reading more about these characters.

Harper Reynolds, crime scene photographer, finds herself in the middle of something she is trying to avoid for a year now. Harper and her novelist sister Emily have been on the road, shooting pictures of nature in the National parks they’ve been camping in.

Harper sets up her camera on a tripod and zooms in.” Taking in those big brown eyes, she captured the images of a grizzly bear foraging for berries near the Grayback River…”

Something catches her eye. It’s a woman frantically running, she saw terror in her eyes. She keeps taking pictures and zooms in for a closer look. A man has a gun aimed at the women and shoots. Harper realizes that this man could spot her with the high-powered rifle and scope. Harper screams and runs for cover leaving her equipment behind. She accidently runs into Heath McKade who just so happens to be the owner of Emerald M. Guest Ranch, a former Green Beret and assists the sheriff when needed. She welcomes his help and tells him what’s happened. As she relays what’s happened, Harper and Heath take a closer look at each other, they smile and realize they know each other. What a great surprise they were close childhood friends until Harper’s family moved away.

Heath McKade stays true to Harper when they are unable to locate a body, her camera, tripod and cellphone. Was Harper having a PTSD relapse? She knows what she saw. She’d find the evidence needed to verify her case; Heath helps her. They both get way more than they bargained for in this search.

I didn’t read book one in this series. I felt caught up with things. I liked learning about what a crime photographer does and how they gather evidence. I liked the mystery, and plot twists, in this action-packed romantic suspense story. This is the first novel I’ve read by this author it won’t be the last.

While being the second book in Goddard's Uncommon Justice series, Always Look Twice works well as a stand alone read. As I read, I had a suspicion that I was stepping into a series, but it in no way impacted my ability to understand and enjoy this book.

Harper Reynolds and her sister, Emily, were nearing the end of a year's traveling and camping together, a trip designed to help Harper heal from the emotional trauma of her childhood and her job as a crime scene photographer. Little did they know of the trauma that was yet to come as they camped near their childhood home. Harper's reconnection with her childhood best friend, deputy and rancher Heath McKade, was both a comfort and a challenge for both of them. Both broken and afraid to take emotional risks, neither was sure what to do about the attraction between them, nor did they have time to process it with the violent acts being perpetrated in the small town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Always Look Twice is a story of hope, redemption, and second chances. It is engaging with a fast moving plot and characters one can care about. I am very grateful to have received a copy from Revell via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to write a positive review, and received no monetary compensation.

Talk about the edge of your seat, yes, this one will grab you right from the beginning, and it doesn’t let go until the last page is turned.
You won’t get to comfortable and you won’t think you know the ending, no, not possible, this one is non-stop action, and then more!
Now this is the second book in this series, and they are connected by location and brothers, but they are really stand alone, but don’t miss either of these they are excellent, and there is another brother!
Beautiful area of our country, and we experience this in a way, um, you probably wouldn’t really want to, but the author has used a great back ground for this read!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.

Always Look Twice is a romantic suspense novel with a plot that is constantly changing and a definite page-turner. In this book, the reader is engaged throughout and will want to read it through in one sitting. The main character of this book is Harper Reynolds who is a crime scene photographer. She has taken time off to rest and relax before continuing with her work. While traveling with her sister, she is taking photographs of nature and the country. Heath believes Harper and sets out to help her prove she saw what she saw. Together, they race to discover who is behind the murder. This is a romantic suspense book that will keep you guessing throughout. I really enjoyed reading this latest book by Ms. Goddard. I highly recommend this book! You will not be disappointed!

ALWAYS LOOK TWICE....Elizabeth Goddard
With camera in hand, a grizzly bear forging for berries, the pictures she is wanting to take. A step closure, and another, the bear senses her, thinking she was okay, she had bear spray. When a cry alerted her of a woman in need of help, aways from her, she captures first, then will call. A rifle, a man, and then she noticed he was aiming now at her. Fear, she had to run, finally alerted her, to only stumble. A group traveling in the mountains, Heath heard the noise. Finding her, hurt, and the sooner they got out of the area. the doctor checking her out, had she been unconscious, she doesn’t recall. Now thinking of her sister at the camp site needed to be told. The camera, her phone, were they still in the area. They needed them for proof, or would the killer already have. The past, as they recall knowing one another till she had moved. Another fear, her father had been murdered.Gripping, good characters , and held one’s interest,.

As a crime scene photographer, Harper has seen too much. Now on a year long sabbatical from her job, Harper is back in her hometown snapping pictures of nature. Accidentally capturing images of a murder, Harper flees after being spotted by the murderer. After hearing a woman scream, Heath is surprised to run into his childhood best friend. Heath, a volunteer deputy, is now in charge of protecting Harper. Both of them are still dealing with the effects of violence in their past. I received a free copy of the publisher through Netgallery. This is most honest and voluntarily given review. Even though I was a little tired of Harper and Heath's reluctance to have a relationship, it was probably very realistic. This is a very suspenseful book building to a very exciting ending I really liked this book.

Always Look Twice by Elizabeth Goddard is a romantic suspense book. This is book 2 in the Uncommon Justice Series, but the story stands alone.

Harper is a crime scene photographer who has taken some time off to heal at the suggestion of her therapist. I am happy to see more authors adding in that their characters are seeking help. I think it helps people/readers understand that it is okay and more common than they may realize.

Harper is healing from a current situation and from her childhood drama of being a homicide survivor. She is taking pictures of wildlife when she witnesses a murder. The police cannot find evidence that a crime has happened.

Harper is saved by a childhood best friend and hero, Heath. They both survived traumatic childhoods and have a special bond. Heath owns a ranch and volunteers with the sheriff. He had been a green beret so he was totally qualified to protect her.

The mystery was very good. We had plenty of suspects and plot twists. The secondary characters were well placed and added another layer to the story.

The romance was a little too melodramatic for me. I totally understand the guilt perspective. But do people really get out of relationships because they think they are not good enough for each other. It was too much of a yo-yo for grown-ups, in my opinion.

I assume this is a series. We have some unresolved issues. One of them is was Heath’s dad drunk during the crash or not. And if we are lucky, the next book will be Liam’s.

Sexual content - kissing
Violence - she sees someone be killed, she is a crime scene photographer so there is that violence, and someone is trying to keep her quiet, there were some bombs, nothing that was disturbing

Always Look Twice is the second book in Elizabeth Goddard's Uncommon Justice series. While I had read and would certainly recommend reading that first book-Never Let Go- as well, I would say that this is great as a stand-alone too. I didn't see any moments throughout that in any way made it feel like you were starting in the middle and missing any backstory.

From the very start, this book captured my attention. We meet photographer Harper Reynolds. Having left her job as a crime scene photographer, she is finding much needed peace in photographing wildlife... until she witnesses a murder through the lens of her camera that is! And that's just within the first chapter. The action and adventure only continued from there! Twists and turns at every turn of the page kept me captivated and wanting to find out how it all came together in the end. One thing that made this story really great is that there was suspicion cast in various directions so though I would start to figure it out, there was always that little bit of doubt. It is mentioned in the story that the villain liked to plant fake clues to throw off the authorities, and in a way that is just what Elizabeth Goddard did within the story as well. I absolutely loved it.

This is a Christian romantic suspense, but I would say that this this particular book the suspense was front and center. At times, I perhaps would have liked to see even more of the romance--- certainly there but playing a background role to the suspense. Likewise, there was some talk of God/faith here and there throughout the story, but not overwhelmingly so. I think this is one that even those who don't typically read Christian fiction could be drawn to for that reason.

Overall, it was a really great read! I look forward to more from this author, and I hope from this series too! If you love a good, clean romantic suspense, this is certainly a must read.

**I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.

Always Look Twice is a great new book in the Uncommon Justice series that takes place in the wilderness of Wyoming, near Jackson Hole and Grayback. Elizabeth Goddard does a wonderful bringing the setting to life with characters that are real and well developed. It's a return to the area after the prior book, Never Let Go, where we met Heath McKade, owner of Emerald M Guest Ranch, where guests can hike, camp, ride horses and many other outdoor activities. While on a camping trip with guests in the national park, he hears a gunshot and a scream that he decides to check out. He finds a young woman who had fallen on the trail, an old childhood friend, Harper, whose family moved away after the death of her father.
Harper Reynolds is taking a sabbatical from her job as a crime scene photographer with her novelist sister, Emily, traveling around in Emily's old restored Airstream trailer, visiting national parks. Harper needed a break her job, only while photographing nature shots along the river in the park, she witnesses a murder near where Heath and his group are camping. She was trying to leave the area because the killer saw her through the scope on his rifle when she fell.
This is an action packed story where it soon becomes apparent that the shooter is trying to kill Harper because she witnessed the murder. But there is not a body and any evidence was washed away after a rainstorm. There have been bombings in the area that is already taxing the local sheriff's office so this adds more tension.
I enjoyed trying to figure out who could be the culprit, who could be trusted and who couldn't. Great suspense and mystery, romantic tension, emotional healing and faith make this a great story that is a page turner to the end. I highly recommend it!
I received a complimentary ARC from Revell through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.
