I really couldn't get on board with this book at all. It tells the story of Josh and Hazel, who knew each other briefly at University and then meet up some years later, become best friends and go on a series of double dates. Firstly, the premise is good, but for me the execution was awful. At no point did the interactions seem authentic or believable. The speed at which everything happened was whiplash inducing and just left me feeling irritated. Finally, there was a completely unnecessary obstacle thrown in at the end that I found distasteful. Overall, I know that there are many people who love this book, but unfortunately, it just did not work for me on any level!
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Thank you, NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for a review!

This was a very cute love story and even though I am not the biggest romance fan I appreciate it as it should be! Many people told me that this was going to be cute and it actually was. Hazel and Josh are a complementary couple that gets along nicely and I do appreciate the ease between the two of them. Not that I am a real life dating expert, buut the chemistry really looks nice! Christina Lauren really has some good words to say in the romance department!

The authors behind Christina Lauren write a terrifically zany rom-com, a delight to read, set in Seattle. Hazel is a one-off, a warm personality around whom chaos and mayhem reign supreme, she is wild, eccentric, and has absolutely no filter when it comes to what comes out of her mouth and sees nothing wrong in casual sex. Whilst at college, she meets Josh Im, a Korean-American, a guy she adored and becomes her blueprint for the perfect man. The first time she met him she was drunk and immediately propositioned him, following that by barfing all over his shoes, Josh gets to see her in the middle of sex with his room mate, and then there is the memorable email incident. Josh is smart, good looking, kind, funny, laid back, a considerably more buttoned up persona, and definitely not a casual sex man.

Seven years later, Hazel has found the ideal career, she is an elementary school teacher who fits in perfectly with her young charges, her best friend is Emily Goldrich, another teacher. It's the end of the school year, and Hazel is on the cusp of joining Emily at Riverview School. Hazel's longest relationship has been for 6 months, and she has accepted the idea that for men she offers an immediate attraction but which doesn't last long before they become embarrassed by her antics and want her to become way more more conventional. Then there are her pets that include Winnie, her dog, Vodka, her parrot and Daniel Craig, her fish, enough to put off any prospective suitor. Hazel is comfortable in her own skin, she is not going to change for any man. When Emily throws a end of term party, Hazel is shocked to see Josh there, it turns out he is Emily's brother, and still the perfect guy. Hazel makes a beeline for him, determined to make him her new best friend, knowlng the two of them would never work. they are just too different. As Josh faces heartbreak over a cheating girlfriend, Tabitha, Hazel gets him to agree to double date, with each of them finding a person for the other.

Josh and Hazel's double dating get progressively more disastrous, but as their relationship with each other consolidates into something more......could it be possible that they are perfect for each other? This is fabulous escapist, feel good reading fare, it is hugely entertaining and hilarious, I particularly loved the character of Hazel, a joyous creation. I would recommend it to anyone who needs an uplifting and heartwarming read in their life. Many thanks to Little, Brown for an ARC.

I am a huge fan of Christina Lauren's books and I am always excited to start a new one. I was initially disappointed in Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating as I felt that Hazel's character was too over the top and crazy but she soon grew on me and I was rooting for her!

The double dates were very funny and I enjoyed the progression of Josh and Hazel's relationship. They were the perfect mix of sweet and hot! A fabulous book!

I really liked this book, I've always been a fan of Christina Lauren books, I've only ever read the Beautiful Bastard books by them so i was excited to read something new by them.
It was easy to pick up and read and easy to follow. All their books are so easily likeable so i wasn't surprised.

Loved this book. Entertaining and full of great characters.

Josh and Hazel first met in college. They meet years later, finding out that he is the brother of her new friend Emily. What will happen when they meet this time, given their encounters haven't gone so smoothly in the past?

I was so excited to get this book, i started and finished it the day i got it!
This was a highly engaging read with charcters i was really invested in.
Josh was ADORABLE and once i got over the fact that Hazel was wildly different to me, i really liked her too. They had fantastic chemistry and i thought the pacing of their relationship was great.

Can't wait to pick up more of Christina Lauren's books!

This was such an adorable book. I have to be honest... Hazel is not my favourite. She annoyed me. She stressed me out. I just wanted her to shut up.
But the relationship between her and Josh can be summed up in one word: HOT.
OMG so hot. I loved it. I was rooting for them. And by about halfway through I’d got used to Hazel’s quirks.
A great book by great authors!
